If you are like me you get fraud emails. They try to play on people's kindness by sending you a sob story. Their husband was killed and he left 4.2 million to them and they need to get the money transferred out of the country. Now these emails are easy to be spotted if you know what to look for. They usually ask you for personally information so they can steal your money or open credit cards in your name and go on a major shopping spree. Your credit is destroyed and you now owe so much money you have no idea how to get out of debt.
First of all, these people don't necessarily go after only rich people. They go after anyone they can steal money from. They don't care if you're poor or rich, they just want money. They grab your email address from email sent to lists. Some emails are sent to many people and sent to more people. It's hard to say who exactly has access to your email address. All a fraud needs to get started is your email address. An easy way to keep from getting scammed is to never to open a message from people you do not know.
But if you do open them, you most likely get a very sad story. One I commonly get is from a wife in Africa whose husband was killed by the government and he's left her millions of dollars. She wants to move to America and needs you to help her transfer the money to your bank account. She even promises to give some of her vast amount of money. Now Africa is generally a poor 3rd world country. It's very unlikely a rich man would be killed by the government. Don't believe her story, its very fake if you stop and think about it.
Another kind of fraud is selling you items for low prices. There are also ones saying they checked your credit report. Frauds try all kinds of things to scam you. Never buy anything from an email send to you unless it's from Wal-Mart or Waldenbooks or you know it's a reliable website.
Now if you do get a fraud email, you can just delete it or you can mark it as spam. But you can also send a message to fraud reporting websites so that this person doesn't manage to scam another person. It only takes a minute to report them. You can use www. .fraudwatchinternational.com/report_fraud/report-fraud/. They are a good group who tracks down frauds as fast as they can. Since there are so many reporting's, don't expect them to get to your reporting right away.
My claps, next time I will report them, thank you again
