Writing is not as easy as it looks and as some of us may discover, succeeding on Triond is harder than it looks. Here are ten encouraging tips to help keep you on track and help you succeed.
Get motivated!
If you are unmotivated or not confident, it will show in your writing. Every writer has their own voice, that is the voice that we as readers here when reading. You want your writing voice to sound confident in the information you are trying to relay. This also goes the same way with creative writing.
Try and find motivation by getting excited as well. Writing is a fun hobby and by sticking with it, there is a chance that you could find a career in the process. Take pride in knowing that people out there are reading your material, whether only two people read it or five thousand people read it, your voice is still out there being heard. Plus, you never know if what you write may make a difference.
Edit your material!
Make sure you quadruple check your writing. Little punctuation or spelling mistakes can be distracting to the reader. The best way to edit is by using spell check on the computer or having a dictionary close by. Also, if you know someone with good writing skills, see if they will proof read your material before you put it out there. The main thing is that you want your writing to look as professional as possible. If you are dyslexic, don't worry about it, just take your time when editing and see it through.
Another tip when editing is to use a thesaurus. Everyone has it happen to them where they just cant seem to find the right word and then it interrupts the writing process. If this happens to you, just put down a word that is like what you are trying to find and go back to it later. Then, all you have to do is find the right word in the thesaurus.
Don't give up!
If some or most of your pictures or articles aren't getting the attention that you were hoping for, don't fret. Just keep trying until you find something or a certain style that does. Remember, each of your articles promote your other published articles as well. So if one of your articles turns out to be a hit or someone just finds it really good, they may end up looking up other articles that you have written.
Another thing is money. With Triond, you aren't going to become a millionaire, or at least not over night. Some of your articles may only bring in a few cents per month, some not at all, and then of course one of them may bring in a really good amount. If your articles aren't putting out as much as you would like, don't give up, just try to improve. Using these tips should help, but you will surely never make money unless you stick with it. Also, using the Triond school could help as well, make sure you use every avenue that you can. Last but not least, remember that this is a very young company that is still growing by the minute. Where right now may only be small change, in a few years there may be big bucks.
Stick with what you know!
Some people on Triond write articles on things that they have absolutely no idea about. For instance, if you are going to give instructions on installing a kitchen sink, make sure you know what you are doing. If you have no idea about how to do it, why would you write about it? The key is to find your niche and not write about whatever is currently a “Hot Topic”
Another tip in this area is to write about similar things. This is a great way to promote your content. Let's say you write about gardening and then later you write more articles about gardening, but they are all about different methods used when gardening, then you have now made yourself marketable. If you keep going with that same subject you will soon become one the most popular authors in that field. Then, anytime someone is reading an article about gardening, one of your articles may pop up as a related subject.
Set goals for yourself!
There is truly no better way to succeed at anything then by adding some structure to it. Here is an example. I am in the Army, currently in Iraq. However, I still dedicate a few hours a week to writing an article. One day I'll write it, the next day I'll revise it and the third day I publish it and then that is it for the week. One article per week is my goal. I can allow myself to beat that goal and publish more content if I have time or I am motivated enough to do so, but I will not let myself fail at reaching the goals that I have set. Just make sure that all goals are within reason and can be accomplished. It wouldn't be good for you to miss your goals because then you may be adding on more stress than you really need.
