Incorrect Spelling and Grammar
This is one of the most common sell mistakes and one any good buyer would pounce on. For instance if someone is selling a “Brand New, 2007 6 cylinder Ford Engine”, and happen to spell it like, “Brand New 2007 6 cilinder Ford Engine”, than no one is going to end up seeing this item because there are words spelled wrong. To find these items all you need to do is type in commonly misspelled words and see if the search engine finds any of those items. There might only be a couple of them but the edge is that next to no people are going to see this it being auction off. So bid low and more than likely you will have the only bid on the item. This is one way to by items for way less than there true market price. Just buy it and sell it when you get it and make sure to SPELL IT RIGHT!!!
(p.s. names are always being misspelled.)
Buy it Now
Sellers are always under pricing items on the BUT IT NOW link. Make sure that you have an idea about how much what you are going to be buying is worth. The thing is, if someone lists 1989 pickup truck for $2000, and you know that if you tear the thing apart and sell it as scrap metal it is worth $3000-$4000, then go ahead and buy. The best thing about these BUY IT NOW auctions is that once you pay the BUY IT NOW price no one else can bid on that item, it is your item. Look around, I know there are plenty of good deals in the BUY IT NOW auctions.
Pay Attention to Shipping
Don't fall into the common shipping trap. If you buy a Alex Rodriguez rookie card for $1 then you would probably be pretty happy. But when it comes time to pay the bill comes as $51. You just got a $50 shipping bill. Trust me, it can happen. You've got to look at the shipping costs before you consider buying. There are all kinds of people list item for cheap prices but with outrageous shipping costs. Look for items with no shipping cost, maybe you'll find an extremely cheap item selling for way less than its worth. Always consider the shipping price when you are calculating your possible profit margins.
Be Specific When Searching for Items
If you want to buy a blue, 2006 Corvette, and you type “car” into the search engine, it's going to take you a LONG time to find what you are looking for. Adding color words like red, blue, and green will dramatically eliminate the amount of unwanted search results. Type in dates or numbers as well, this will cut down on the search results a give you only the things that are close to what you want. Use specific adjectives as well, but don't get too fancy or you will get to the point where no search results pop up.
Automated Sniping Service
There are programs out there that will bid on an item for you at your preset price with 2 seconds left in the auction. This assures you that you will buy the items you want and not get them stolen from higher bidders. But beware, you aren't the only one, the are plenty of other snipers out there so don't just rely on being the last bidder, put in a fair bid price as well. You will be very happy to use these snipers because they will dramatically increase the number of auction you win.
