Have you ever had somebody you didn't know emailing you telling you that you won or inherited money from a person you never knew existed?
There are many email scams like this going around.
My advice to readers who may get these emails is delete them immediately.
They come in two forms usually, they either may be a virus
or they may be an attempt to collect and steal your personal data.
Tips for Safeguarding your data.
- Make sure you have a secure internet connection.
If you have an unsecured connection or you are on a network with multiple computers
(such as a library or at work) make sure your data is at least encrypted even if you need to get personal encryption software.
For all you computer experts out there,
help your not so computer savvy friends out.
- Make sure your email service has good spam blockers.
- Never give out bank account or PIN numbers online.
These scammers may give you an alternative way to contact them,
either way do not under any circumstance give them your information.
If it is not a scammer and they are a legitimate person or company,
they will usually give you a way to talk to someone in personnel or services
My advice however is take no chances.
Tread carefully the online world my friends.
There are many snares that could easily entrap the unsuspecting.
