With the advent of the Internet most people have left reading for the 20th century. What little reading they do is on forums or websites such as this one. For those of you who are still interested in some good old literature, here are some useful sites for you!
- Readprint- A Personal favorite of mine. Readprint offers full versions of classic books free to read. The best part is there are many classics that get used widely in classrooms around the world and can help save college students money!
- Bookmooch - The concept behind Bookmooch is brilliant. It focuses on recycling books for others who want to read them instead of them sitting in a box in your basement. You make a list of books you want to get and books you want to get rid of. You get points for those you ditch, and use points for those you want. And it's Free.
- Freeclassicaudiobooks - Maybe you don't have time for reading. You still have time for your iPod though. Try these free audiobooks available for download and can be listened to directly from your computer, iPod, or other music device. Books range from Shakespeare to Dickens to H.G. Wells.
- Fullbooks - An even larger version of Readprint. This library offers books free to read online, but has a much larger database for readers seeking harder to find books, sonnets, poetry and plays.
- Chainreading - Nice online book community. Read reviews of books by others. Talk about what you're reading. It's the book club minus tupperware and Oprah.
With that I want to leave those with the power of a book. Books have forever shaped the way I think, helped me escape for years and even helped me come back. With the advent of the internet books don't need to die.
