How to Find Online Jobs Using Craiglist

Craigslist is one of the top Internet destinations where one can find a job. In fact, in the United States, it is the 10th most visited website.

Also unlike these other websites one can also use Craigslist to help his business grow with no cost of him. In fact, for 99% of ones uses, Craigslist doesn't require nothing more than a bit of time for one to make posts and read the ads in categories which one might find it interesting.

Finding jobs through Craigslist may be the easiest way to find job in the Internet. Individuals can use Craigslist in a large scale to find jobs. One can either browse through the listings available in the craigslist website by selecting locations and a general category. The search feature of the site can be also used to refine the search of any job. This may also include using of search criteria such as whether or not the position is telecommute position or a contract position or an internship or a part time position or a position with any non-profit organization.

Conversely both business owners and individuals can use Craigslist to solicit resumes for open positions in any available jobs. Also the persons who post job openings in an appropriate category on Craigslist are more likely to receive a large number of responses from people who are willing to do the particular job.

Here are few ways which will help you to find the appropriate jobs through Craigslist

Finding the "Right" Craigslist

For finding the Craig's List for you town or state, you need to go Craig's List and then select the location that you want from the lists on the right side of every Craig's List home page. Then click on the appropriate location link from those listed sites. The new home page will look like the one you just left except there should be a different name in the heading at the top of the page.

Understanding Craigslist

The listings are generally organized by category, in reverse chronological order which means that the newest jobs are at the top, with the yesterday's job next, and then so on to the oldest job at the end of the list. So you can select and pick a category or a sub-category to see the listings which you might find preferable. Again, many listings may be wrongly categorized, so you also need to focus on a sub-category something you want is listed in a sub-category you don't expect.

Finding the Jobs in the "jobs" Column

Near the top center of the home page of craigslist, you will find this column heading called -"jobs"- the number being in parenthesis, and then following the word indicates how many listings are there.

Now to get started, just browse the job postings by clicking on the word “jobs” and then scroll down to see what jobs are meant for today, yesterday or day before yesterday and so on. It is best to browse the recent jobs so that you don't miss some thing that is in an unexpected category.

Below the jobs on the homepage of Craigslist are the “gigs”-the number in parenthesis, is a count of the number of the job listings available. ”Gigs” are short term jobs which are also organized into sub-categories. The browsing of Gigs is most interesting in most locations. Even you can end up with a permanent job of yours starting out with a gig. Sometimes you can also get enough money to cover your bills until you get a permanent job and gigs also help you in getting experience for your work.

Searching in Craigslist

Craigslist has also got a search function that works pretty well. First you need to select the category or subcategory you want, and then just search through the jobs postings using specific keywords. Now if you type your query in the search bar of Craigslist.org homepage, you are not bound to get everything you need, not just the jobs, and so it probably won't be very useful.

Networking with Craigslist

Networking is one of the best ways to find jobs! And in addition to the "jobs" and the "gigs", the community of craigslist and it discussion forum sections may also be useful for your job searching. In the community section of Craigslist you can find activities, groups, events, volunteers, classes and politics. All these are potential sources of opportunities for networking.

In the discussions forum, you can find a “jobs” discussion group, although there is no separate forum for each location. All forums are combined into a very large forum which includes all locations.
