Skype Hates You

My thoughts on why Skype hates you and how they are robbing their customers.

Skype hates you. They want to steal your money.

This is what Skype doesn't want you to know. Their lies revealed and their cheating ideas exposed.

Skype hates you because they are greedy. You haven't done anything wrong, but they hate you anyway. They are using you and you are allowing it to be done. I began using Skype years ago when they first introduced their software to the public. I thought it was the greatest software invention of the century. You could call anyone in the US absolutely free of charge.

When Skype was first release the program and all of its features were completely free. The first change I remember was the addition of a paid service for calls to land lines and mobile phones, but you could still call computer to computer for free. They decided that people were beginning to use their product and they could make some money. They were right. The software exploded and became one of the most popular products online. People were buying it up everywhere, and who wouldn't. It was a great deal at only a few dollars a month you could call landlines and cell phones with unlimited minutes right from your computer. This meant that people could do away with their landlines and use Skype as their home phone. What an idea! It makes sense right? Get millions of people addicted to your product and then screw them every way possible.

Now, I understand that in cost money for Skype to allow so many people to use their software and I can understand the fee involved in allowing people to use their product. What I don't understand is how they can continue to raise the cost once they've tricked so many people into using their software. Now the people who have cancelled their home phone lines will have to pay a fee in order to get it back or they can stay with Skype and pay the new costs.

Once Skype saw that people were dependant on them they raised the price once again, but they left a feature available to customers allowing them to get Skype pro with unlimited calling to land lines and cell phones for one low price. Once again thousands of people were tricked into using this feature. Just a few months after the introduction of unlimited Skype pro, they decided that they weren't making enough money and so they stopped the feature and replaced it with a new Skype pro that only allows calls to land lines but still the unlimited feature as long as you called land lines that were approved by Skype. If you call any other type of land lines, such as 1-800 numbers you may be charged a fee which in only a few minutes can completely wipe away your available minutes. That's not even mentioning the connection fees and other fees they charge for things like payment fees.

I don't even want to think about what Skype has planned for the future. I can imagine that in no more than a couple of years people will be paying more for Skype than they did for their original landlines. So what's really going on is my question. Why does Skype suddenly need all this extra money? What kind of corporate deals are going on, and why are they robbing the good citizens of the US and many other countries around the world?

Personally I'm tired of their crap. Why pay your internet service provider for a connection to the internet, and then pay Skype for a connection to other people on the internet. One group of engineers in Asia has seen Skype for the way they are and decided to take action. They have figured out what skype is doing and created a hack for skype that has yet to be released. I can imagine that sometime in the near future those of us who are tired of being screwed around by corporate America will have our opportunity to connect to our friends over the internet for free. So my note goes out to those great people in Asia who have cracked the software, and I say keep going. Just please don't charge for your findings. Keep the internet free. Keep your people happy, and they will keep you happy! Join us in the quest for freedom!
