When using forums, they are a very public place, meaning people of all ages may be there, and you need to be respectful of that.
Quality posting is also VERY important, without it you may get banned/suspended/warned. Neither is good if you want to make some friends.
You also need to abide by the forums personal rules. If the board has rules, then please follow them. Nobody likes a rule breaker.
Some things aren't acceptable at all on any forums. (Ex. Pornography) These types of things you should never post on forums, and you may even get fined for it.
Signatures and Avatars are a big thing on forums, and should be used respectfully. Don't put big signatures, or disgusting ones. They may be offensive to some people, or may take the page to long to load up.
