I am the manager of a group called Door to Darkness on MSN and have been for a while. Now when I first came to MSN there were so many groups to choose from and it seemed daunting especially if it is your first time rping. I joined a few low key sites to practice on and then moved up to a more advanced group with a battle system and stat points. Again all of this seemed to overwhelm me and I thought I would never get the hang of it, as with everything though it comes with practice.
Now to those wanting to start out on text based rps, take a look around the kinds of sites you wish to rp in. Is it a Kingdom Hearts site you want, Naruto? Whatever it is look around the site first before joining, see what the members and management are like. If the management and members are always fighting or unfriendly it's not the best place to start out your rping experience. Once you have chosen a site and joined it read through all the rules and systems they have, if you still don't quite understand them ask a manager of the group that's what they are there for to help new members.
Depending on whether the group is DM (Dungeon Master) based or just freeform while depict how you will rp, Door to Darkness is a DM based site which is where members are assigned a DM to help create and mould a storyline, with freeform rp groups the storyline just seems to form as you rp. There are a lot of choices you will need to make when joining a rp group without even thinking about it, text based rp groups are good for helping to improve your writing, grammar and your creative mind.
