Do you have a MySpace? This is a standard question among youngster surround the country. College students, young professionals look upon MySpace as a meeting ground for new friends, share their interest and also for some it provides social networking opportunity they are missing in real life. With its popularity rising, even “older” more mature users have jumped into the MySpace bandwagon. But is MySpace right for everyone? Hardly.
In my case, I created a MySpace and Gather.com profile on the same week. Today I logged in my MySpace account after about two months, I visit Gather daily. Why? Because at Gather I found like minded people who shared same passions and interests. Also there I can write and publish articles, discuss with other users. At My Space I was unable to find that “community”. I am not saying that MySpace does not offer a meaningful community experience; it is just that it was not right for me, or I was not right for MySpace.
I suggest that before you sign up with any networking site, you should try to find whether that site fits your needs. Also, there are many sites devoted for special interest audience, like Gather.com works very well for writers; Hi5.com is good to keep in touch with former classmates.
Go ahead and explore, there is one that suits your needs perfectly.
