Get Your Green Fix Without Going Nuts: 25 Environment-Friendly Sites You Must Bookmark

The beyond-fad lifestyle of "going green" is nearly a pandemic by this point. The following sites are some great starting points for those looking for some fantastic tips, articles, pics, and more relating to environmentalism.

With climate change no longer in just the history books, but now hitting the daily newspaper and the web, it's not just trendy to becoming an environmentally aware citizen, but a necessity. These twenty-five websites will help you being your trek to turning yourself into that person.

1

The logo itself is what first dragged both of my eyes to this site. It is a great place for techies and designers to check out for ideas on how to incorporate green into your daily cycle.

2

As they state themselves, this place is a pretty comprehensive source, outputting a great array of ecological articles.

3

While GreenSpec is more geared towards those in the U.K., anyone from around the globe will find useful their guides to building green.

4

One of my favorites, Web Urbanist provides an alternative twist on the typical urban lifestyle. Daily (or more) posts, though not all are exactly green, each is eye-opening and just plain-old 'cool.'

5

A fun, interactive site for kids of all ages, although seemingly more directed towards those in elementary school. Includes coloring pages, games, charts, and more great learning materials.

6

While the website itself isn't so flashy, it is appropriate for kids and provides educational games and other interactions to get them motivated to start young and help Governor Schwarzenegger fight global warming (the site is part of the California Government network, but with information appropriate for all locations).

7

With a pretty, inviting homepage for all, Green Kids is there to motivate youngsters to take an active part in reducing the negative effects of climate change. This is appropriate for pre-teens and teens.

8

Perfect for the mechanically-inclined folk, Ecomodder features a great "automotive community" online, which is very active in finding ways for a better fuel economy.

9

A great way to help contribute and read up on all things activism.

10

Another great, generally comprehensive site... with my favorite feature, quizzes.

11

This is essentially social networking for the "Greenie," and while still in its 'beta' stage, has lots to offer.

12

Find your match... one who shares all the same ideas, hopes, and dreams you do.

13

Meet up with some great people who are also looking for some serious and effective change in the world.

14

Perfect for the auto-fiend looking to cruise down the freeway with zero emissions.

15

Your hub for all travel things green... reduce your footprint not only while on the ground, but also on the tracks, wheels, in the water, or in the air.

16

With a large selection of locations, there's no reason not to rent a hybrid while on your next vacation.

17

The GreenUpgrader has such unique and funky green pieces that it was one of the first sites I added to my RSS feeder, and it feeds the mind with both great visual and writing.

18

Some very weird, and downright freaky environment-related stories.

19

The source for all of your global environment news.

20

Okay, so this one isn't focused on just Earth-related issue, but it has great updates and some news stories from our blue-green planet.

21

Custom-made for those who sit behind their monitor all day, aren't quite sure what the outdoors looks like, but know that they need to do something about saving it because the hot 'chick' on Digg is doing it, too.

22

A great source for science geeks all around, including the little one hiding in the corner inside of us.

23

A very cool selection of articles on a variety of ecological issues.

24

This has some stunning natural photography that I absolutely am addicted to staring at for some time each day.

25

Ecoscene offers a variety of photographers' work, focused largely on all things green and environmentally friendly.

Huddler - a great community site where you'll fine user reviews and feedback on Green products.

Triple Pundit - focuses on the Triple Bottom Line, the idea that the economy, environment, and society are interdependent.

I could go on and on... Green Air Radio, No Impact Man, Ecorazzi... You can check out our blogroll for the rest of the green sites we love.
