Over the last few years I have noticed that there are a lot of scams being perpetrated over the internet. Some of them are very obvious and some are not. I was going to write an e-book concerning this problem. I wanted to find a way to help those that seem to get targeted by so many unscrupulous low life's that have nothing better to do with their time then to con people out of their lifetime savings.
Now you might think that I too am also a victim of one or more of these scams because I choose to write of them. My answer, Nope. Although many of these scammers have tried to do so, they have failed miserablely in their efforts. My life mate and friends just shake their heads each time I reply to one of these scams and tell me to be careful. Then they smile and laugh as I can not hide the glimmer in my eyes as I send my replies off to these would be scammers.
Most of the ones I receive are based on as follows:
- Lotto winnings - Which I never entered.
- Inheritances - From Dead people I don't know. (By the way, did I ever mention? “I see dead people”.
- ob offers - Yes you heard me right. Seems there is a lot of business in foreign countries needing someone to open a bank account in their own names and then they want you to collect money from supposed customers here in the good old U.S.A. You are to keep 10 % and send on by Western Union the balance to them your new employers. (Money Laundering is alive and well! It's also very illegal!)
- The good old phone scam. They seem to come out of the woodworks even the cracks in the pavement. They tell you that you have won some fabulous prize and all you need to do in order to collect is send them money. (Shipping & Handling can cost).
Often in the thousands of dollars. But, yet to my surprise I have seen these types of scams actually work and it hurts to see a friend get taken down like this. The allure of gaining instant wealth can be over powering to those that are down and out. Even to those that are just plain duped because they try to see the good in everyone.
A word of advice and to the wise? If you didn't by the ticket personally yourself, it's a scam. If something sounds too good to be true? It usually is. If you were to win a lottery or anything above that has been mentioned in this article, you would be notified by Registered Letter and the fee's if any for receiving such winnings would be deducted directly from your winnings.
I hope this article has been able to help others in a good way. Let's take our power back and before given into that unscrupulous con artist, remember this please? They only hold the power over us that we for whatever reason allow them to have.
Again, if it sounds too good to be true; it more then likely is!
Sadly but all true an article like yours is needed. At least armed with a warning others may not be taken in my the low lifes you speak of.
