Nine Websites You Should Know About, But Probably Don't

Featuring news, TV Shows, computer Software you name it.

  1. Fark

    Genre:
    News

    Why it's the Best:
Fark.com is the king of News on the internet. It works by users submitting news links and witty headlines for them, which then get put onto a list to be reviewed and placed on the main page. Fark has news about anything and everything, weird news, important news, politics, sports, you name it fark has it. Also, to the right of each news headline is a topic that users can post in to discuss the news article.
  2. TV-Links

    Genre:
    Archived TV, Movies, Documentaries

Why It's The Best: Have you ever been frustrated when trying to find an episode of your favorite TV show online? Look no further, because theres a 95 percent chance that TV Links has got you covered. From new shows to old, American to British, shows you've never heard of to shows you can't stop hearing about, TV Links has it all. Its easy to maneuver and unlike most TV web sites does not have a billion ads placed anywhere and everywhere.
  3. Stumble Upon

    Genre:
    Archived TV, Movies, Documentaries

Why It's The Best: If you have a chronic web surfing problem, chances are that you get bored easily online. Even with the help of such amazing sites as Fark and TV Links you just can't seem to find enough to do online. Well look no further and prepare to develop a sleep disorder when you get the stumbleupon toolbar for stumbleupon.com. It allows you to pick from your favorite topics and then stumble through random web sites of those topics by clicking the stumble button. Also, stumble upon lets you give web sites thumbs up or thumbs down, and if it has not been added to their list yet then you can add it yourself! I personally have found many great web sites on stumble upon, including many on this list.
  4. TVU Player

    Genre:
    Streaming TV, Movies, Music

Why It's The Best: TVU Player has some of the best streaming channels available on any players out there. At the time of this post it has streaming TV channels like Comedy Central, Spike TV, Fox News, and Nickelodeon just to name a few. It also has many Asian TV channels and channels that stream old TV or cartoons such as South Park. While the advertisements on the site and the player itself can be slightly annoying, as soon as you go full screen it removes them all. For people who do not have cable/satellite television this is a blessing!
  5. File Hippo

    Genre
    : Computer Software

    Why It's The Best:
File hippo has all the best free software programs listed by category with details about how to use them and what they are. Sick of paying for your Anti Virus software, Anti Spyware, Microsoft office? Need to find a better browser, Audio/Video player, instant messenger? File Hippo has the best free alternatives to programs that you should never have to pay for. Best of all, they are FREE.
  6. YouTorrent

    Genre:
    Torrents

Why It's The Best: If you do not know what torrents are then you can ignore this one. If you know what torrents are, you can send presents to me accordingly. This is the ultimate torrent search engine, searching the top 14 torrent sites and listing their results by whatever categories you can think of. Most recent, most seeders/leachers, torrent size and search engine. It needs no further explanation.
  7. OV Guide

    Genre:
List of web sites with TV Shows, Documentaries, Movies

    Why It's The Best:
For starters, it has TV Links on it! The reason I included it on this list though is for the people who can't find their favorite show on TV Links, but do not want to give up. OV Guide is the place to go to find newer episodes of your favorite show that aired a day or two before, but you have to hunt around different sites on there. My favorites are bedroommedia.com and sidereel.com.
  8. Guerilla Mail

    Genre:
    Temporary Email

Why It's The Best: Sometimes the web site has the best description of their site. "This web site provides you with disposable e-mail addresses which expire after 15 Minutes. You can read and reply to e-mails that are sent to the temporary e-mail address within the given time frame." Also, if you need more time you can just give yourself 15 more minutes. Never have to give out your own email address again, or create another junk address, this web site does it for you!
  9. WikiUpload

    Genre:
    Free File Hosting and Sharing

    Why It's The Best:
It's pretty simple really, you can host up to 5GB file sizes free and quickly!

LAME
#4 by Emma, Feb 13, 2008
Three websites I find amazingly useful are
1. Meebo (http://www.meebo.com) - I hate using multiple different instant message clients to communicate with all the people I regularly exchange messages with, and Meebo is a way to use AIM, Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger, and MSN Messenger at the same time.

2. Buzzillions.com (http://www.buzzillions.com) - It's hard to find trustworthy product reviews, especially when you have sites like Epinions paying their users to write reviews. Buzzillions aggregates reviews, mostly from verified buyers, and helps you "find the right product for you, guided by actual buyers." So if you're a beginner looking for a digital camera for casual use, you can read camera reviews written by people just like you.

3.Pandora (http://www.pandora.com) - helps "to discover new music quickly" – you tell them what you prefer and they recommend songs that might be a good fit.

hey thanks backwards Shawny Nevill (lliven ynwahs).......since you're backwards, i'll take the Lame to mean AWESOME!!!

and Emma, Meebo and Pandora are awesome! I was going to include meebo but i forgot the name of it! I'll check out buzzillions, thanks for the tips!

Sure thing, this is a great article. You should write another article with the sites you left out and other extremely useful sites: meebo, buzzillions, pandora, Etsy (the ebay for everything home made), Yelp (local reviews), Prosper (community borrowing and lending money), chegg.com (rent textbooks for cheap)

you should make that article Emma! feel free to include whatevers on my list and make a better one.
#8 by Ksmail, Feb 18, 2008
Another great site is WikiAnswers. It is a Q&A site based on the wiki format. Dumb answers are removed and good answers are continually improved. Refreshing concept avoiding some of the problems of Yahoo Answers.

1. Tv-links exists no more, owner's been arrested

2. Torrent-finder.com is a better search engine, trust me, check it out. It searches all engines.

1. TV Links DOES exist, its now tv-links.cc and not .co.uk

Another good site is rainlinks. Who doesn't love free movies? I watched Superhero, Juno, and Penelope, so basically I just saved $30.00. I found this site through Stumble(:

the guerilla mail link seems to be dead? Some sort of "parked" page.....ads, etc...

I like dodgit or mailinator though as alternatives :L
