A lot of parents think of the internet as a bad thing, but if many of them were to take a closer look they would see things from a different point of view. The net is a good source of communication, entertainment and education. Its time people started focusing on the good, not the bad.

If you don't want to spend money on a long distance call, just instant message. The sad part is, this is seen as something dangerous for teens. But when you think about it, it all depends on the person using the website and how they choose to act and react. If the teen is educated, than there should be no problem.
Another thing found on the net is entertainment. This ranges from games to music and movies. Problems have already been found for all of these, so now it's time to think about solutions. If your kids are spending too much time playing games on the computer, than give them a time limit, instead of taking it away completely. Many websites that offer music and movie downloads are free, which makes it illegal. If you don't like the thought of that than find a website where you must pay for your downloads. There are simple solutions to these problems that seem so complex. Give it a try and you will see that the web isn't such a bad place after all.
As for education, people are led to believe that school is the only form. But what about the stuff that isn't taught the schools? The internet is a very good source of information on various topics. If you have a question, but don't have anyone to ask, a quick search can find you an answer. Or if you are in a debate, and trying to prove someone wrong, you can search the information and print it as proof. But remember, you must search with caution since not all website have truthful information. The most trustworthy sites would be ones that end in .org, .edu, or .gov because that means it is run by an organization, an education facility or the government. With the internet, information and education can be right at your fingertips.
