Making Friends on the Internet

The internet has become the new Super Highway for information. You can now send and receive messages in almost no time at all. You can talk to people all around the world, share photos, writings, even meet people and grow new friendships that last a lifetime. Do you remember the days of snail mail? You would wait weeks sometimes months for a letter from a pen pal. Then it would come and the excitement within you would be boiling over because you finally got the mail. You would sit glued to the new letter reading and treasuring every last detail contained within it. I know, I sure do remember. But I also remember the let down as well because the advice or moment you were trying to share was long over by the time your friends received that precious letter you sent them.

The internet has rocketed forwards and what we once thought to be a great achievement of modern day technology has now become the dinosaur, yes a thing of the past. Businesses are being created and ran from home using computers and web sites all by means of this wonderful modern day technological advancement called the internet. The internet has bridged the gap and has eliminated the walls and miles that separate so many. With but a click of the mouse you can join and inform the entire world of news in a nana second. You can start your cam and within but a very few moments see your friends and talk with them almost as if you were sitting in their room with them.

If I were asked though what the internet has done for me and how has it changed my life? I would have to say, it has helped me to help others as well as myself. It has given me yet another family of great new friends. Friends that are always willing to sit and talk. Friends that share parts of their hearts with me that no other has seen. It has given me my life mate. It has taken me to all four corners of the world; giving me the tools and the means to see and reach deep into the hearts and mindsets of others. The internet has also brought me together with people of like mind and by doing so it has helped me to move forward on the walk of life I've chosen.

It has helped me to research many things and to catalog the results of my research. Yes, the internet has shown me that great endings often have small beginnings. It has become an ongoing educational part of my life and has helped me pass on the knowledge of my lifetime and the lessons I've learned along the way. Yes, for me the internet is a wonderful new concept.

Marketing for Beginners: Writing in Volumes

To be a successful Internet blogger or article writer, you must be willing to write some new content every couple of days, so to keep your audience interested in returning to read some more of your writings. This is especially true if the writer has an established RSS Feed linked to their publishing account.

Writers who are consistently producing fresh and new content to be published on the web are usually the ones who make the best money and who are the most well known on the Internet. Writing new content should be a given if you really want to be taken seriously as a writer of any kind.

Most successful writers and bloggers have at least one very important thing in common, and that is, that they have chosen the type of writer that they are. These writers have created a reputation for their work and themselves by writing about one or possibly two topics on a regular basis. This works so well, because their audience starts to recognize these authors as experts in their chosen topics.

When writing an article per day becomes normal daily routine, then quickly enough you realize that you have built a pretty sizable article archive that could continue to generate an attractive combined income each month. Of course, whether a writer will continue to make residual earning from their writings depends on the type of publisher that they have chosen to write for and the “terms” that the publisher is willing to payout and for how long.

Internet writers and bloggers who publishes at least one article per day will eventually build a loyal readership and make more residual income from past published articles that are stored within the author's article archives. New articles or blogs will typically make more money on average in a short period of time, because new content will normally attract larger audiences who has been swept up in the moment and desiring to read more of what they are interested in learning about at the time.

The longer that the articles or blogs that the writer has written is published on the Internet, then the more it is considered old news and the less appeal effect the writings will be in the future. The older the articles and blogs become, then the less money the articles and blogs will be able to generate in the future. On the bright side, the entire archive of new and old published articles can potentially generate a decent residual income on their own, even if the writer should take some time off from their writing.

Writers have the ability to write themselves a pay raise, just simply by publishing a few new articles per week. So, if you are disappointed after learning that you are making less than what you want to make, then just write something interestingly new to share with your loyal audience. It is really, just that simple to do.

Virus Heat: The New Virus

Virus Heat is a new rogue anti-spyware program infecting your computer. Of course, it looks like a great anti-virus program but it is the exact opposite. Most of the viruses it scanned are installed by the program itself. It is also been known to exaggerate how many viruses it has found. Now, if you have tried to uninstall it already you will already know it will not be uninstalled.

Now, how to uninstall it. There are three basic ways to get rid of this. First, you can purchase the Virus Heat ($49.50 I think) and uninstall it. Of course, nobody wants to pay that much. Another way to uninstall this is to do it manually. This is hard and can become very confusing if you are not that good with a computer. Finally, you can use a program called Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to kill Virus Heat. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is by far, the best anti-malware program on Earth.

To uninstall it manually, follow the directions on the website below. I will not list out the directions because I did not do that, and also, it is a long and grueling process.

First, you will need this program called Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. No, it is not a virus. To be safe, download it from this website.

There is some additional information there about uninstalling.

After you have downloaded Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, start a quick scan. Let it finish and Virus Heat should be gone.

This isn't the usual list of extensions that everyone is used to using, but 10 add-ons that many may not know about, but can be very useful for everyday web browsing.

1. PicLens

2. Snap Links

You know the times where you have been trying to find something through a search engine, but you have to go through every link one by one in order to find it? All of us have been there, but now with just one click you can open multiple searches with Snap Links. Snap Links allows users to easily open multiple links in new tabs by drawing a box around them.

3. Tab Scope

With Tab Scope you can hover over a tab to get an instant preview of the web page. The cool thing is you have real time navigation, zoom, and you can even click on links without having to switch tabs.

4. Reminder Fox

This is for those who spend hours on Firefox, including myself. Reminder Fox is an extension that displays and manages to do's. It can set reminders and alert you at the appropriate moment.

5. Download Statusbar

You can view and manage downloads in a small status bar in the corner of the screen, without having that download window get in your way.

6. HyperWords

This add-on makes every word interactive by adding a very handy options menu when you hover over it. Just think, you are viewing a map, and you hover over a location name and you get the option to locate it, search it, or get any information you want on it. Possibilities are endless!

7. Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer

If you're like me and use Firefox on multiple computers, you'll want Foxmarks. All you have to do is install Foxmarks on each computer and without you knowing, it will synchronize your bookmarks for you. You can also log onto my.foxmarks.com to have access to your bookmarks where ever you go.

8. Tab Effect

It adds a nice effect to Firefox by simulating a 3D cube being turned when switching through tabs.

9. Cooliris Previews

Cooliris Preview allows you to surf through the web faster by giving you a small preview of the website, without you even having to click on it. Just imagine, surfing without wasting time by clicking on links and coming to realize that it wasn't even close to what you were looking for. All you have to do is just mouse over any link, and the Cooliris preview window immediately appears in order to show you the content.

10. StumbleUpon

This is by far the best add-on out there. It discovers websites based on your interests, and learns what you like. A fair warning to those that want to download this, it's so great that you will find yourself spending more time than you thought possible surfing around the web. It basically feels like the first time you got high speed internet.

Eight Incredibly Fun and Useful Websites You've Probably Never Seen

I'll guide your through 8 of my favorite online tools which I guarantee will improve your life (or at least make you smile!). You won't see this stuff anywhere else!

If you're looking for something rare or expensive on ebay, FatFingers is your new best friend. Countless auctions slip past everyone's radar because they contain typos or misspellings. FatFingers allows you to type in the correct spelling of any product you want, and it will automatically generate a search for you utilizing all of the most likely misspellings, saving you time and money.

Get non-partisan, unbiased straight facts about every political issue under the sun. Find out whether candidates statistics are true, or just rhetoric. Interesting, easy to use, and informative.

A fun way to find something new to read. Slide your cursor along a variety of spectra (happy -> sad, funny -> serious, short -> long, etc.), the website does some calculations, and spits out a list of title suggestions, complete with descriptions of the plot. If you live in the UK, you can even send an online request to borrow the book from a list of libraries.

Pick a mood from a list, it suggests entertaining websites to browse which fit your mood. Fun, and definitely enough variety to waste quite a bit of time.

This one's essential for me, since I love to eat but don't have a lot of time for grocery shopping. Type in what foods you have lying around and it pops out a tasty recipe you already have everything (or almost everything- if you're one or two ingredients short it'll generate a shopping list for you) needed to make. Many recipes even have reviews, you can be sure you're not making something that will turn our horrible. It can also recommend cocktails by doing the same thing with alcohol.

I like this because its completely free, doesn't require registration or installations, and has a large size limit (100MB). Allows you to upload any kind of files and gives you an ID code with which you (or your friends/family/whatever) can download the file anyplace in the world whenever you want.

Find free stuff in your community! Instead of throwing unneeded stuff away, people offer it online. If it happens to be something you want, you can claim it. This one is best for people who live in major metropolitan areas, but you never know. Everyone likes getting something for nothing.

Artsy types will love this one. Choose any color on the RGB/HSV spectrum and this nifty device will find you a collection of photos in which the primary theme is that exact color. Every picture it finds is 100% fine for you to use under the Creative Commons License. Great for webpage design, collages, and probably lots of other stuff too.

Ways to Generate Traffic for Your Blog or Website

I have been running a website for over three years now and I have learned quite a few things even in my limited experience. By no means is my blog a traffic monster but I have found valuable ways to have you enjoy checking out my site statistics. I have created a general website for personal and semi-business use as well as for a forum community.

Here are the basics you need to know beforehand. They are no brainers but it's always good to remind each other on what the basics are so we don't forget.

Key Words:

This is very crucial when first starting out. Key words will play an important role in making sure your blog is one of the top 1,000,000 website links pulled up on a search result on Google. It's smart to jump on a rising trend. For example, if the appeal of a new technology is increasing and your blog's theme is to covering new technology, write some articles on it even if you can find only a little bit of information. Your articles will come up as search results, which means your blog can potentially be looked at. Use product names! Even if the articles are on page five of a search result, don't worry; it's still better than nothing.

Uniqueness and Originality:

This is one of the toughest basics to cover simply because it seems like almost everything has been discussed or at least mentioned a long time even before you thought of it! But don't fret; with careful thinking and patience, creativity will take over. Try to find a way to be able to offer content that may be generally inaccessible for most people. Articles about personal experiences are what I find to be extremely useful because I am able to relate. They are easy and fun to write for the posters. Although I can't relate to everything I search for, I can still find usefulness in other people's personal experiences because it allows me to look at what my other options can be in various situations.

Visual Appeal:

Websites that have a lot of advertisements and cluttered, unorganized content can be very distracting and uninviting. Please, please, please have a nice and neat layout for your website. If it takes me more than a couple of seconds to locate the link to the page I want to go to, I won't bother with the website. The reason why we have fast internet connections is to minimize the time spent on websites. Slowing down the time it takes a visitor to find what they want on your site will only irritate them.

Now you know the basics. How about these? They are things bloggers soon run into after successfully launching their website.

Losing Interest:

A website doesn't explode with overwhelming traffic within the first few months. I understand that it is difficult to get the word out on your blog or website. You want to sell custom made clothes and you advertise your site in every way possible, but no results! What happens when your efforts don't show results quickly? It can be intimidating and upsetting if your site statistic's graph is a barely wavy line nearly flat at the bottom. But don't worry and don't give up! Dedication, patience, and hope are what will keep the potential of becoming a hit alive.

Running Out of Ideas:

So, what should you write about today? Are you all out of ideas? Is it panic time? At the very beginning you will have a plethora of ideas flooding your pages. But after a couple of months, you'll be looking everywhere in your imagination and creativity chamber for brand new ideas to write about.

One of the bigger mistakes people make with their blog or site is pumping out article after article multiple times a day for however long they can go on for. Do not do this! Wait up! At the beginning it's generally OK to post and update more often than usual to fill up your site with great content, but slow down to perhaps one article or update per day once you get situated. Save up on ideas and think of new ones before you need to post. I generally have two or three articles saved as drafts when I click on the "Post Article" button.

Facing those two obstacles will almost guarantee that your traffic will plummet. If you are the sole webmaster or poster for your blog, then you must devote your time and effort into what you're doing. My site got the most traffic when I truly enjoyed working on it.

My website originally started as a hobby. I had a tremendous amount of interest in it and threw in a lot of my time, but it quickly died down when I got side tracked with other personal life issues. However, it became active with traffic once I returned to blogging with a new attitude and new unique ideas. As cliché as it sounds, success doesn't happen overnight. Just keep doing what you're doing with real effort and devotion.

What is Triond?

Triond
is basically an internet website that pays for you created piece of work. The work can be anything, from pictures to videos, from music to documents. Triond is like a website that pays for your work like any other site. But if you were to choose a host for your work, I suggest you choose "Triond".

Is it illegal for kids?

No, the answer is simply no, and everyone can use it, from babies to elderly people. This is just a site for you to earn your money, and in the fact, this site is aimed at kids. You might think it's kidding but no seriously.

How does it pay you?

First of all, you will have to create a Paypal, it's free and simply sign up for Triond, then start posting your things and get your money. The money calculated is in USD and it is calculated by the number of people clicking on your website. Which is approximately USD $0.01 every 8 clicks on your web. If you have a Paypal account, it will transfer the money directly to your Paypal account.

What kind of articles will best make the most profit?

The articles that would make the most profit is things that are most important in life or things that persuades people they want to read it ex. Global Warming? These articles would need paragraphs like the on I'm on now. Plus remember this website is aimed on kids.

What do kids want? If you are a kid, what do you want? Simple answer - games, entertainment. When making a article, you want to make sure it's game or entertainment related, you could have searched on the search engines, translate it to your own words and there you go, you earned yourself some profit.

Why I choose "Triond"?

You might wonder why I choose Triond as my host, it is because that Triond is the best website you can find, it has a high minimum wage (USD$0.50) and you could make more than that. You can also send it to your friends, family, and let them have a look for it, remember every click is worth it. You can even post in on forums and ask people to have a look at it. Which I think Triond is the best, easy to use, and faster money paid.

Well I think I should end here, cos all the Basics of Triond are listed up there…

Facebook - For New Users

On February 4th, 2004,
Facebook
was released to the general public. Mark Zuckerberg, who graduated in 2006 from Harvard University, founded Facebook but it was primarily restricted to Harvard students only. It receives its revenue from banner ads and advertising.

As of September 11th, 2006, Facebook was already widely known throughout the world, usually basing its population towards those in high school and colleges or universities. Nowadays, as of October 2007, Facebook has a total of around 42 million users!

This article will guide new Facebook users to learn how to use Facebook, have fun with it, and join the rest of the 42 million who do! By the way, I have Facebook. Therefore, by the end of this article, you should add me. :) My real name is not Nik Fall, by the way.

Basic

First of all, Facebook is a social interactive network that bonds you and your network of friends (or strangers) together. You can check out their lives, and they can check out yours.

The Home Page & News Feed

Firstly, we have the login screen. So make an account and we can get started. Login using your confirmed email address and password. The first window you will see is usually called your Home. At Home, the most part is your News Feed. You can view updates and have a basic overview of what's happening with your friends and their lives. The News Feed loads up every time you login so you won't have to miss anything important.

This, however, might not be true all the time. The News Feed summarizes only some activities that occurred. You can edit the Preferences of what you want your News Feed to display simply by clicking on Preferences. It should be pretty straight forward.

Left Hand Side of Home

In the left-hand corner of Home you will see a search bar. You can type in a friend's name, a stranger's name, or a group name, whatever. Say you wanted to find a co-worker named John X. The search engine will lead you to pages where you have the eligibility of browsing through many John X's in Facebook and also groups, events, and applications that have the term “John X” in them.

Going back to Home (which you can access in the Blue Bar in the top right hand corner), you will see, under Applications, a total of about 5-6 applications. Applications in Facebook are mini-programs that can function if you add them. Some applications will allow you to check out your daily horoscope, raise a pet, or throw a pizza at a friend.

You can add an application by simply knowing its application name, typing it into the search bar, pressing on it, and adding it…You can choose to display it on your profile or not. Displaying an application on your profile will enable many users to see your application and IMHO, if you have too many, it can get annoying!

Right Hand Side of Home

The right-hand side of Home can have many subheadings. You might see Requests. Friends can Request you to join an event, a group, or an application. Non-friends can send you friend requests. You will see Notifications. I don't access this usually, because it's a list of what you've done with Facebook lately, and it's not like it matters. There can be Pokes. It's a function where anyone can “poke” you. A poke is nothing more than just a way for someone to nudge you for attention basically. It has no special purpose, and no meaning - but you can come up with one.

If you poke a non-friend back, they can see some parts of your profile even if you don't want them to. You will see Status Updates. Yes, you can input a “status” here. A status will begin with “Your name here is ________ (e.g. fishing, hungry, wanting to bathe in bubbles)”. You can fill in the blanks with whatever. If so, you might also see Birthdays. Facebook is awesome because it helps notify you every friend(s)'s birthday who is coming up a couple days before so you don't forget! Then you will see Invite Your Friends. Do so if you'd like. Other things are straight forward.

The Profile/Your Life

Alright! Now we can finally get to the more interesting part. Go to the Blue Bar and click on Profile. Your profile is basically your life. This is like your front page when somebody finds you on Facebook. If they decide to add you, or if they're in your network (I'll explain networks later), they can see your profile. Or, if you'd like, you can set privacy levels to low and everyone on Facebook can check you out…

Facebook accounts can have multiple uses. For advertising a company/business, for uploading photos, for chatting, etc. You can upload photos to Facebook simply by going to the Photos application on the right side. You can edit your information by clicking edit beside Profile on the Blue Bar. You can see and browse your friends. You can do a lot.

Hey, you can change your status here too.

There is a small section called the Mini-Feed, similar to the News Feed at Home. Mini-Feed is not an application. It publishes some things you do on Facebook. You can choose what to publish, and what not to publish. Below it should be the Wall. This is the main feature of Facebook. It simply allows for friends to write/comment on your “wall” and communicate with you. There is an application called the SuperWall which will allow you to input videos, photos, music, and loads of other stuff to your wall or a friend's wall. Using the wall is easy, it's common sense. Somebody posts something on your wall, and you post back on their wall.

You can also comment on photos, or notes that friends create or you can create.

Friends & Networks

The reason for Facebook is usually to keep in touch with old classmates, co workers, friends, family, or random people from halfway around the globe. Sometimes the only way to see somebody's profile is by adding them as a friend.

To add a friend, you have to know their first and last name. If you know their first name, it will be pretty hard to find somebody, now wouldn't it? But then again, this is where Networks come in. Joining a network allows a user to contact other people in the same Networks or view their profiles. You can browse throw a network. You can join a regional network. It is a geographic network. You can also join a business network, if it exists on Facebook. You can create a network. Or you can join a school network. Simply go to Networks and get started.

You also have an Inbox, which is like a message centre. You don't have to add somebody as a friend to send them a message, but you do have to add them as a friend to post on their wall.

Have Fun! Honestly, that's what you should do. You will be addicted to Facebook in no time!
