  • Don't be obvious when creating a new password, this is obvious
  • Therefore, don't use your name and don't write it down to keep in an accessible place, example, don't keep it in your wallet.
  • Don't use names of children or family members. don't use your birth-date
  • Don't use numbers that you "own", like your street number, telephone number, and certainly not bank account numbers, or the number of children you have, or people in your family, etc.
  • Don't let anyone else know or use your password, key it in yourself and block others from watching your fingers, put a sheet of paper over your hands if someone "hovers".
  • Do use a word and number, both known only to you, therefore not usually relevant to you and not known by others.
  • Do make up a new word, an acrostic is great, like "t 0 t a c o," now this is not identifying me, but:
    T = Totara Terrace is where I live 0 = Zero, the number, (or the number 1 to make and I or an L letter) T = again, Totara Terrace A = Aish for my last name C = Carolyn for my first name 0 = again, you can use number 0, or the letter o.
  • Do think of a 4-figure number of an amount of money you would like to make every month, or week, (dreams are free)- such as 7750 (memorize it) and put "dollars" or "pounds", or, the word month, week, year, in the password. Example: 7750dollars, or monthly7750.
  • Do use capitals if you want, but remember to put on the shift-lock, just as you Do need to remember to take it off if you have used lower case.
  • Do use different passwords for different bank accounts, credit cards and frequented websites because this way, if someone gets one of your passwords, they do not have access to everything you visit or own… therefore…
  • At home (not at work, or the office) do keep a small alphabetized "address book" with all the frequented web addresses you visit and need passwords. I have so many different passwords, I write my ID, or user-name below the web-name, and also the password. And I do keep it in a safe but reachable place in case I've forgotten a site's password, this is quicker than requesting password and waiting for the email to arrive with it. Example, under the letter "T" in my small address book I write:
    Triond.com Username: my username Password: 7750POUNDS (example)
