Increasing Your Traffic and Earnings on Triond with Some Elbow Grease

Nothing is ever easy or just plain simple. Sometimes, you have to get dirty to make it worth it.

Marketing your articles on Triond is no easy task for most people, including the seasoned veterans. You have to know where to look, you have to open up your minds to another form of relay switch.

What I mean by all of this is to think outside the box. I know it sounds cliché, and maybe it is but, some of us need some help and we are not afraid to ask.

I was so honored that so many of my Triond friends and fans came to me for guidance.

I am going to let you in on a few points that I hope will make a difference in your traffic count. At least try one everyday and see if it helps.

Social Bookmarking

By now, everyone is familiar with term but, do you really know if it’s working for you? Bookmarking articles, on many occasions, only benefit’s the writer by cataloging your articles for future reference. Also, Bookmarking is a way for users to manage webpages for the sole purpose of sharing them with people we know.

Honestly, this is from my own experience now everyone so don’t get upset, I don’t bookmark as much as the next person. If you have hundreds of friends that will religiously read your work than that’s wonderful but, would you mind millions of people across the globe surfing on the internet reading your work? Hmm

This is why I spend more time submitting to the sites that will make even a greater difference in page views.

I have noticed that when I directly submit my URL to the link submission page for every search engine my articles get crawled even quicker than if I submit through the Triond submit link tool next to the article.

As writers, we want our articles presented to the masses as quickly as possible not only for exposure but, to make a little pocket change.

If you have a lot of time, check out these social networks:

Digg - Make lots of friends because this is the true driving force of this website.

Stumbleupon - Add a toolbar to your browser to submit every piece you read and write.

My Space

Url Submission

These are the direct links to the major search engines to get you noticed right away.

Google - Direct link to URL: submission

Yahoo - Direct link to URL: submission

Live - Direct link to URL: submission

Ask - You can’t submit to Ask. They will find your link through links from other sites. Make sure you included external links in your articles to receive the exposure.

Search Enginez - Submit to Google, Yahoo, and many others from one place.

Submit Express - This site will submit your URL to over 40 Search Engines for free!

Wisenut

Exact Seek

Jayde

Whatuseek

Scrubtheweb

The list goes on and on.

Submit RSS Feed

Rss Feeds are used to publish work that is frequently changing. It’s a great option for Triond users who are constantly getting comments and submitting new work.

If you are unfamiliar on the location of these feeds, just go to one of your articles and scroll to the bottom where is says Subscribe to RSS.

Click on Subscribe to Feeds and get this screen.

Copy the URL.

Submit the URL to Rss Directories like:

Feedburner

Feedest

One of my favorites. Submit as many as you can all at once.

Blogoculars

Live Blog Directory with Live News Feeds.

External Links (Hyperlinks)

I can not stress enough how important it is to include as many external links within your blog as possible, remembering to keep it tasteful and relevant.

What is an external link? These links travel back to webpages that are pertinent to the subject matter and of course the word that is highlighted.

Play around with these in your articles. This is the best way for your page to be indexed by the major search engines.

Internal Links

These are links within your blog that pertain to another article you may have written that’s related.

We see these all over Triond:

Try adding some more within your piece.

I know this is quite a bit of information to digest but, if you have the time and most of us don’t, try to use the best options for you. Stop spending so much time on one option. It’s a learning process for all of us. I am here for each and every one of you if you have questions on how to implement the tasks at hand.

This has now become an obsession of mine and I am hoping it makes a difference for you as well. After all, we are all here for the same reason, to write and have our voices heard by fellow writers aspiring for greatness.

What is the Best Choice in Copywriting? Improving Search Engine Rankings, or Making Your Readers Happy?

Search engine optimization (SEO) copywriting requires a very precise balance between adding meaning important to search engines, and creating an article that is relevant and informative for a potential customer. Attracting the right customer is important. Holding and converting that potential customer into a buyer is critical in helping your business to thrive.

Professional copywriters work to maintain the balance between copy that generates the highest page ranking on a search engine with relevant content that attracts and retains readers. The best content should be able to achieve high search engine rankings and generate a high conversion of visitors to paying customers.

Copywriters and copywriting services work diligently to gain expertise in maintaining this balance. Combining persuasive prose with search engine optimization in each article is critical to the success of an SEO campaign. Many authors may treat this type of writing in the same manner as blogging. There are subtle differences between professional copywriting and content writing. An understanding of how search engines work and how search engines rank pages for listing in their directories is required. Superior copywriting includes:

Content Relevant to the Reader

An article balanced for both search engines and visitors should combine SEO and relevance. The logic and the flow of the article cannot be compromised with inappropriate placement of keywords or phrases. Good copy will help improve the image of your company and provide higher page rankings from search engines.

Keywords

Selecting the right keyword density in an article is critical. Too many keywords will make the article hard to read. A term has been coined for the overuse of keywords - black hat. This refers to the inappropriate use of keywords to trick a search engine into ranking a page highly when a specific search term is entered. Too few keywords will make articles hard to find by both search engines and potential customers and will usually keep rankings down.

Copywriting for Sales

The main reason for copywriting is describe the features and benefits of products and services. One form of copywriting for sales promotion is press release writing. Press release writing is designed to attract potential customers to a website and hopefully also increase sales. Utilizing a professional copywriter to draft and publish a press release may have a very high return on investment, especially if you select a copywriter with SEO experience.

Credibility

Maintaining your integrity by avoiding plagiarism is critical to the success of your web presence. A plagiarized article will show up immediately in a search engine, undermining the credibility of the rest of your message. Professional copywriters are fully versed in creating original content, even on the most common topics.

Readability and SEO

There are two reasons for web copy - to improve the odds that a search engine will properly select the website when a term is searched, and to provide informative, eye-catching content for visitors to the website. While it is easy to write an article attractive to search engines, if a person tried to read the article, it would make almost no sense. Relevant copy is VERY important in addition to seo-related keywords.

If an article does not have relevant search engine keywords, users of search engines will be less likely to find it in the first place.

How to Become a Popular Blogger Online

One year ago I began my blogging career. I did not do it to become popular as much as I did it to generate some extra income. I am a loan officer for a mortgage company first and foremost. After that, call me what you will, but most call me a dedicated blogger. Some even call me "friend."

When I originally started out on this trek of mine, I did it not knowing anything about social media or the process of using social media websites. All I knew was how to write about what I felt and what I knew. I began by joining a website that a former colleague was a member of. It is referred to as one of the largest Real Estate networks around. It is known as ActiveRain Real Estate Network. When I joined I fumbled my way through the site and soon I learned how to maneuver my way around. I quickly sstarted to amass a following from this website. I was getting to a point where I could master the use of their systems and make my posts look interesting.

Soon, I decided to start a post outside the network and build a following of my own. I learned quickly that not all platforms worked the same and I ran into some road blocks. I regrouped and learned how to operate on both platforms efficiently. But, there still was the problem of getting traffic to come to me. It was not until I joined HubPages that I learned about social media and how to use it to benefit my time and get the much sought after exposure.

What I did not realize was the fact that I already belonged to two of the biggest networks around. One was ActiveRain which I blogged in regularly and the other was LinkedIn that I had joined years ago to help me in recruiting employees for the company that I was working for at the time. Where ActiveRain was closing in on 100,000 members and growing, LinkedIn had me connected to 25 million plus. What I did not realize for years was the fact that I had a social network in my hands and did not use it to my advantage.

After joining HubPages, I also learned about eHow and how to use this to write articles about things that you know. We all have things in our lives that we know about. For most of us, we just do not know how to put it into words. What was good witheHow is it taught me a little more about writing because of the different type of format that it uses. Between eHow and HubPages, I began to explore the pages within looking for more knowledge on how to grow.

One day, I found the knowledge that I longed for; Social Media websites and how I could use them to benefit me. It took me a while to figure all the sites out, but soon I was off into a totally new world. A world where I could come across millions of people and still only scrape the surface. One of the first things I did was load "The Button". It has been the greatest tool that I use today. What this does for me is allow me to connect to all the social media sites that I am a member of and add any post (blog page) that I have to their site. It is a social bookmarking tool if you will. In using this tool, I can spread a post that I write to millions of people in a matter of minutes.

Now, for most people, they use these tools in many different ways, so I am not going to go into the details of each. What I will do is tell you the ones that work for me. As with all things that work, consistency is the main key to it. Inconsistent behavior on these sites can tear apart what you have worked hard to build. Below is the list that I promised you and they can all be found in "The Button."

Digg

Twitter

FaceBook

MySpace

Reddit

StumbleUpon

Technorati

Google Bookmarks

Yahoo Bookmarks

FriendFeed

Mixx

BlinkList

Mister Wong

Traffic Paradise: How to Drown in a Website Visitor Deluge

Doing any type of business on the internet ultimately boils down to one central issue: How to get constant website traffic (in other words, how to get more site visitors). There's just no use making an impressive blog or webpage if no one will see it. When you create a web page or blog post, you wanna make sure that it is seen by as many eyeballs as possible.

The first question to ask is this : How much traffic do you need? The answer may vary, depending on the type of website you're running and the nature of your online business. For example, bloggers and content publishers go for tens of thousands of views before they can expect to earn serious revenue from their blog posts and submitted articles. Meanwhile people who retail stuff online usually need lesser amounts of traffic, but it has to be highly targeted to a specific audience.

Ok, if the above sentences did not make much sense to you, don't fret. Here are some cool tips for you to start doing so you can get more traffic to any webpage you choose:

Surf Other Blogs and Comment on Them

Try going to Google Blog Search and look for blogs that have a simlar topic to the webpage or blog you're promoting. Then leave useful comments on those pages. Don't just make spammy comments. Share useful thoughts and participate actively in any discussion. When you frequently do this, you wll accomplish three basic things:

The owners of the blog you comment on have a greater chance to visit your website (this is their way of returning the favor to you). Most blogs allow you to leave a link to your webpage each time you post a comment. People see your link, so they click it and end up on your website/blog.

Your website link will be popular. When your website link is posted on hundreds of other different blogs (just by simply posting comments), Google will decide that your link is important and popular. Therefore, your website address will push higher on search engines.

You will gain more recognition in the blogosphere. This is important for long term traffic.

Study Google Trends

By going to www.google.com/trends, you will find popular search keywords that real people are actively searching online. For example, a recent Google trend showed that Michael Phelps ranked number 2 on Google as the most searched keyword in August. Based on that trend, you may want to provide content that appeals to readers of the same topic. By knowing what's truly popular online, you will be in a position to provide content that many people will love to read. The result? More traffic and more clickthroughs for you.

Ride The Web 2.0 Wave

There are many sites that offer you opportunities to share your useful links and content to other people. The sites that come to mind are Digg, NewsVine, Facebook, Myspace, Reddit and many others. The key is to build a network of friends and a solid reputation on each of these sites. Then when your network of contacts has been established, sharing yor stuff is gonna be a whole lot easier.

Take time to master the culture of each site mentioned above. Others are strict and doesn't allow you to blatantly promote your links. In other Web 2.0 sites, meanwhile, you are expected to read and promote other people's works so others can do the same for you as well. Master the rules and regulations of each Web 2.0 site mentioned above and make sure you abide by them.

Is building traffic hard work? Is this a rocket science? My answer to both questions is yes! Now let me ask you a question: Who ever told you that it's all gonna be easy?

There's no free lunch, so to speak!

The good news is, as you gradually move up and build a huge contact base and reputation online, things will start to get easier and easier. The traffic will become more constant. It's all worth it in the end, if you have the patience and perseverance to do what it takes to succeed on the internet.

The Search Engine Wars: Five Classic Battlefields Where Google and Yahoo Meet

We have all learned to love Google and Yahoo. They give us instant access to information, photos, videos, websites. Yes, these search engines even help us find answers to everyday life. With the rise and popularity of web spider technology, possibly one question comes to the minds of majority of internet users:

Which is the best search engine out there, and which will dominate the internet in the future years to come?

Listed below are five (5) distinct areas where Google meets face to face with Yahoo, in an attempt to win your affection, support, and of course, your elusive click. Let's see who wins!

Google Search Results versus Yahoo Search Results

At first glance, there seems to be no difference. But look closely. While Yahoo gives you the most popular sites regarding the topic you're searching for, Google gives you MORE and BETTER search results. Just try to type Barack Obama, and you'll see that Google Search will show you an index of pages that are not present in Yahoo Search.

The result? Google wins by unanimous decision.

The Home Page: Who Gets The Vote?

The home page is very important because it gives readers an overview of what's happening in the world on a specific day. Google is known for its simple, "uncomplicated" page (is there such a word as 'uncomplicated?). All it has is a simple field where you can type your search keyword and some additional buttons.

Yahoo is different. The home page contains news, information, games, e-mail and many other features. You can even do your own online research survey by looking at the "Today's Top 10 Searches" section (this feature is vital for bloggers who need to choose popular topics to write about). Yahoo News gives you fresh updates every half hour or so. Being on Yahoo gives you a feeling that you're up to date with all the events of the world.

The outcome? Yahoo wins by KO.

Unique Search Engine Features

Both Yahoo and Google have unique search engine features that the other doesn't have. For example, Yahoo Search gives you the capability to have a 'video' search and a 'shopping' search. Google, meanwhile, offers you a chance to do a 'blog' search, where you can surf all kinds of blogs on a specific topic. Both of these unique features are highly useful, and I cannot live online without having one of them around!

Who wins? Well, it's clearly a draw!

The Email Service Is Where The Rubber Meets The Road

This is where the going gets tough. Both of these search engine networks offer outstanding email services. So the question is this: Is Yahoo Mail better than Gmail? Well, I don't know the stats and all those complicated stuff, but I agree that Yahoo is the "the best frequented web based email", as stated on the Yahoo Mail home page. However, Gmail seems to be catching along pretty quick.

This is an unofficial verdict, but I think Yahoo wins by a narrow margin -- a split decision.

Google Adwords/Adsense vs. Yahoo Search Advertising

The advertising and publishing service that Yahoo offers appeals to big website owners. When I say 'big', I meant websites that have huge amounts of commercial traffic, and this includes company home pages, professional business sites, and websites owned by companies which are popular in the world. However, Yahoo Search Advertising is a pay per click method that is yet to outperform the Google advertising system (am I biased? I don't think so). Here's why:

Google Adwords (advertising aspect), and Google Adsense (publishing aspect), appeals to the 'little guy' and individual blog/website owners. Virtually anyone who has a blog or website can advertise and publish with Google. And because Google owns Blogger.com (one of the largest free blog providers), anyone who has a Blogger account can register with Google Adsense, a pay per click publishing service that pays you for placing Google ads on your blog. This unique appeal to the masses places Google on top of all online advertising systems, and they might stay on top for a long time. So in terms of advertising, Google wins by KO!

But when it comes to indicating which is the best search engine on this planet, YOU will be the one to ultimately decide. So what's your pick?

Draw Those Customers to Your Site

The current increase in SEO produced articles are created in an effort to effectively drive traffic to ones website, optimize for search engines and to establish a rudimentary form of credibility. It is without doubt one of the better means of increasing the outside flow of hits to your site that has been created in recent years. More and more people around the world are data conscious today and as such are seeking specific information making article writing the major method of generating large streams of viral traffic heading to your website as well as providing an outlet which allows more publishers to publish your written articles upon their sites. This article proliferation tends to place your name and site in the spotlight of hundred and perhaps thousands of potential clients.

What actually makes SEO produced articles so productive is that they generate a vast number of targeted traffic being drawn to your website from a mere link in your article by people who have an interest in what you have on your site. By following the link you have placed in your SEO article they are arriving at your website to see what you have to offer them and are under the assumption that you are knowledgeable about what you are doing.

Every one of the articles which you manage to get published represent some brilliant advertising concerning your website due to the fact that at the conclusion of your article you are permitted to place a link to your site and information relating to yourself as the author. By your act of placing this information at the end of your article you are portraying yourself as an expert in your field and building a reader base which leads people to your website.

Often times a good SEO editor would place a link at this point to an area that provides some free information of value to the reader relating in a sense to the subject of your article. If the page is created effectively you can obtain a name and email address from this link. This tends to be a great way of creating an effective mailing list.

An additional advantage of writing these articles lie in the simple fact that all of this is accomplished free of charge. The price runs rings around the Pay per Click type of advertising that many websites tend to employ. The more articles that you write the more known you are as an expert and thus the more your site traffic will increase.

As an example of just how effective this can be imagine for one moment that you write three articles per month. These articles are then distributed to perhaps 120 submission sites and ultimately selected for publication on 4 additional sites. If you only obtain 6 additional hits monthly to your website as a result of your article you end up with 8,400 additional hits per month. Do the math and you will see that it can add up rather quickly.

So it only stands to reason that if you are failing to draw the customers to your site you need to overhaul your SEO program and start getting the traffic that you rightfully deserve.

Build One Way Links to Your Website

You've been hearing a lot lately about SEO, one way link building, search engine rankings and what not, and you want a piece of the action! It's easy to see why; after all, when your ranking increases so do your sales and, ultimately, your bank account. And that's great for you. So read on, and find out about the most effective way to increase that famous search engine ranking: one way link building.

First of all, to build one way links is more difficult than the common practice, which is link exchange. Why would you go over your head to build one way links? First of all, because it all pays off in the end, and you'll get excellent search engine results for a longer period of time. Second of all, it's because efficient link building will make your site look better in the eyes of potential customers, having that great reputation given to it by all those free links.

Generally speaking, you want link building to happen when your business depends on your website. Your main concern is Google, the all mighty search engine, but do not ignore the other search engines, such as Yahoo, as you'll get precious traffic from them too. Think of it this way: Google sees every link you get as a positive vote for your site. The more votes you get, the better the place you're getting in search queries for your keywords.

The number one benefit of one way link building is that you aren't bound to link back to websites you don't like, as part of a link exchange program. You just get them, ideally they should be natural, but it doesn't really matter if you use a cheap link building service or the services of a professional link building company. Natural links are better because they're constant. If you get a natural backlink, you can be sure it stays there for a long term.

So how can you get more backlinks for your website? Other than the simple answer, which is content, content and more content, you can also try some of these methods:

acquire the services of a link building company

read a link building book, or a link building handbook, as they're easy to find and very informative

read all the articles about SEO you can get your hands on

provide free content on your website

buy one way backlinks or use a backlink submission company

build one way links by submitting your website to directories related to your activity

link building isn't hard when your company blog takes off with a blast, people will link to it

free backlinks will be coming your way when the newsletters you send are really valuable to those that read them

hire a writer to provide you with quality, original articles that you can then submit to all sorts of websites

for efficient link building, hire a SEO copywriter to take care of your website content and other marketing collateral

These are just a few of the strategies available to you in your pursuit of free backlinks. Our advice, when it comes to one way link building, is to hire professional to take care of it for you. It will be one of the best investments you'll ever make, and link building services abound on the Internet. With a little research, you'll be able to build backlinks that will be both natural and will last for a long time. That, obviously, translating into money in your bank account. Good luck!

Using the Image Tag to Improve Your Search Engine Rankings

Search engine's extract keywords from your text as they read and then use them to determine the ranking of your website in their list. Are you missing a vital trick by not using your 'image' tags for Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)?

The image tag is the code that loads all your website images and tells the browser where they live on the page. An important part of it is the 'alt' attribute that lets you insert a description of the image. It's intended for speech readers to announce but search engine spiders can't 'see' images either, so they, too, rely on the description to tell them what the image is about. If the image contains some of your keywords then this will reinforce that word's importance to your considerable advantage.

This is particularly so if the image is towards the top of the page for search engine's give greater importance to content higher up the page and thus allocate more weight to it.

Thus, text contained in the 'alt ' attribute of the image gives you the chance to get your keyword across in a big way and so help improve your ranking.

Inserting the Description

If you hand code web pages all you have to do is add the text to the 'alt' part of the tag and make sure the text is contained within quotation marks.

If you use a visual editor, select the image and find a properties box that will let you complete the words for the attribute. This might be called the 'alt' text, or 'alternative' text or might even be shown as the 'description'. If you are given a 'title' text area to complete as well then do so but also see below.

What You Should Write

You will have a list of keywords for your page, so take the main one and be sure to include it. You can, of course, include some of the others but write a normal, everyday description of the image, don't try to be clever.

Remember that this is important so take your time and get it right.

What You Shouldn't Write

The temptation is to add as many keywords as you can (it's called 'keyword stuffing') in the hope of boosting your ranking. Search engines are pretty smart and if they think you're overdoing this they'll penalise you, so be smart yourself and include just one or two keywords in a standard description.

However, you don't have to use just a few words, you can get away with ten or a dozen to give you more inventive scope.

The 'Title' Attribute

As well as the 'Alt' text there is now a 'Title' attribute which is supposed to show up as a 'tooltip' when the image is moused - although support for this is rather patchy.

So far as I know, search engines take no notice of this but the situation could change so add a title attribute if you want and a description that uses the same keywords.

Which Images to Use

All images should have a description but small, inconsequential images like navigation images should just have a one or two word text description and should not be used for keyword use.

All other images, however, should have a full description and remember that images towards the top of the page work better than those lower down.

The Image Name

Can you add keywords here, too? Yes, but be careful to use just a few words and don't overdo it. Try to use a logical name that uses one keyword once and hyphenate it to isolate the keyword.

Images are an important part of a webpage but they can serve other and more hidden uses too, so make the most of them and use them to improve your search engine ranking.

To Increase Google Page Rank, Write About What You Know

There is no question that Google is the number one search engine on the Internet. When it comes to SEO, or search engine optimization, you should be tailoring your website's search ability toward Google.

In order to increase the success of your SEO campaign you must be able to increase your Google Page Rank. Your Google Page Rank tells you how important Google thinks your website is.

There are a number of factors that goes into calculating the Google Page Rank, all of which are highly top secret, or so we are told. It has been deducted by viewing previous versions of the Google Page Rank algorithm, the parts they let everyone see, that quality back links to your website is a strong indicator for increasing your site's Page Rank.

A great way to obtain quality back links to your website and at the same time help increase your Google Page Rank is to write articles that cover topics related to your website. At the bottom of your articles you will have what is called an article resource box. It will be in this resource box that you will post a small bio about yourself and post a link to your website.

Let's say for example you have a web site that sells digital cameras. I would suggest that you write articles on taking good photographs or how to use the zoom options and so on. Then in the resource box your bio would look like this, “John J. Doe is the owner of website name where they have over 500 different models of digital cameras for sale.”

Once you have written your article, including the resource box, you will then post this article to various article directories around the web such as Ezine or ArticleDashboard.

Websites such as Ezine or ArticleDashboard allow you to post your articles free of charge. More importantly visitors to those article directories are looking for content. If they like your article and it is what they are looking for they will then use your article, links and all, to post on their own websites and blogs.

Continue this process daily writing one to two articles each day, and in 30 to 60 days you will notice a huge increase in the number of visitors to your website, but more importantly with each Google indexing, the process by which Google determines your page rank, you will see your page rank increase. It won't go from 0 to 10 overnight but it will increase over time.

Now wash, rinse and repeat this cycle and you will continue to add links pointing back to your site, content to the web and of course your expertise which will go a long way in attracting visitors.

Although no one knows the Google Page Rank algorithm except its inventors, one thing is for sure you need to get quality back links, and a lot of them in order to increase your Google Page Rank which brings your website to the top of search results.
