Who Gave Them a URL?! 10 Totally Oddball Websites

The Internet is a maze of interesting and sometimes bazaar activities and entertainment that millions of people participate in everyday life. For some people this means the weirder the better and to be perfectly honest, sometimes the weird is a purer form of entertainment, because it requires a greater creative ability to make the weird enjoyable.

Stop worrying about what to get that person who already has everything, because unless the person that you know is a closet serial killer, then they probably don't have one of these. At “Corpses For Sale” you can purchase an incredibly realistic full body corpse with rotting flesh, teeth and yellow fingernails. The corpses are not real, but the expert craftsman sure makes one stop and take a double take and the reason, is because they look so real.

Looking for a bit of nerd humor with a tad of geekiness? This website offers an assortment of actual technical signs that are not normally funny, but these signs come complete with humorous captions that makes them funny to look at and to think about.

The website introduces an amazing illusion that will have you seeing dots for the rest of the day. Watch a rotating board containing three yellow dots and one green dot, that are there in front of your eyes one second and gone the next second. This is a really cool optical illusion that will capture your attention for the next few minutes.

Built to pay tribute to one of the world's most relied on consumer products “Toilet Paper”. This website presents an extensive collection of brands of toilet paper that range from the mundane to the exceedingly rare. This is a comprehensive Internet resource for learning about toilet paper.

Now, for a fun and dizzying activity that will freak out your mind and confuse your senses. Some sensitive observers may become dizzy and/or sick, so if you are one of these people, then you should leave the site immediately.

Angry Alien has created a new twist on the typical movie review. In 30-seconds, visitors can watch a troupe of bunnies re-enact some of the best movies of all-time in a movie parody sort of way. Some of these movies parody are absolutely hilarious and a must to watch. My personal favorites are: Borat, Jaws, The Grudge and Star Wars.

Sure, Dr Mega Volt is a tad bit weird and completely out of his mind. Anyone who would knowingly put himself in an electrifying situation has to be included in an article entrenched in the world of weird. This guy has either a death wish or he has found a job that pays really, really well.

The Department of Homeland Security introduced in 2002, the Homeland Security Advisory System that features a color-coded warning bar scale that ranges from green (Low-risk) to red (Severe-risk). Now, you can get you very own to download onto your computer for free. I don't know why anyone would want one of these, but there are some weird things that people want for some strange reason.

If you have wondered how many pennies would it take to fill-up a room, then this website will answer this question and continues to take this question even further. What would one billion pennies look like if stacked?

Developed in 1994, “The Really Big Button That Doesn't Do Anything” is a usual artifact that attracts thousands of people every day. Pushing the button is pointless, but for some reason people still continue to push the button regardless.

This is not a top 50 list and is not is any specific order, but the gadgets in this article are the coolest and sometimes most useful gadgets that are on the market presently. Jump onto the Internet and access your remote access account, then with a click on your mouse, let the automatic pet feeder do the rest.

Levitating Buddha and Lamp Shade

The levitating Buddha and levitating Lamp Shade are floating masterpieces of technology and design that will leave any geeks friends scratching their heads in disbelief.

USB Memory Watch

If James Bond were on a secret mission to retrieve some valuable computer data to save the world, then you can be sure that he would want to be wearing the USB Memory Watch to covertly store the electronic computer data in its 2GB storage unit. The watch allows the user to securely store all of their MP3s files and images for easy transportation.

The Mandylion Password Manager

For most computer users and especially Internet surfers trying to keep up with all of the passwords that we must rely on in our daily Internet life can be a challenge. Now, your password management can be as easy as 1-2-3 and as secure as the US military's password protection. The Mandylion Password Manager can securely manage up to 50 logins, safe combinations, security codes, ECT up to 14 characters in length. In addition, it can generate cryptographically strong passwords and it complies with all DoD, Govt. & Industry Password Security Policies.

X-UFO: Four-Motor Remote Control UFO

I can only imagine just how many geeks would be tugging their mother or spouse's arm as they beg to own one of these awesome R/C UFOs. Fly the UFO with expert precision through your own flight course or blast-off and soar up to 300 feet away. The X-UFO received the 2005 Award for Technology for its innovative design and concept. This is an amazing toy that any geek would dig.

AquaMaker AM10

This is a state-of-the-art water-generating machine that produces water from the air that we breath. The AM10 water purification system consistently delivers high-quality, great-tasting water by removing the harmful substances, taste, odor and particles that is commonly found in drinking water.

Illuminated Shower Head

This great little shower gadget turns up the mood by colorfully illuminating the watercolor spraying from the showerhead. The Illuminating Shower Head from Kzlidea changes colors with the temperature of the water. It will change to blue when the temperature ranges between 33-41 C, changing to purple in the 24-45 C degree range, then to red at 45 C degrees range and it will remain the normal clear white color if the temperature stays above 32 degrees.

The Pin Clock

Do you remember the toy that is a clear plastic box with hundreds of polished metal pins and when you would press your hand on one side of the pins, then you could see the impression of your hand on the otherside as the pins pushed forward in the box? Well, this clock uses the same concept, but instead of seeing your hand impression, this clock generates the impression of the daily time. It is really not that important that the clock doesn't have any other functions besides tell the time, because anyone owning this clock is doing so, because of its novelty.

Squid Soap

This is the first soap that I ever have seen that teaches people how to properly wash their hands each time it is used. This is no ordinary soap, because this soap leaves an ink spot that will not come off until after washing for 15-20 seconds as is recommended by doctors.

Ice N' Go: Portable Backyard Ice Skating Rink

For a mere $700.00 anyone can now create the perfect outdoor winter activity area for anybody itching to lace up some ice skates and edge their way to some real winter fun. This is the perfect outdoor gadget for the winter outdoor sports geek.

It comes equipped with Central air conditioning system, desalination unit, mini-bar, and audio-video system with a Bose stereo, king-size bed, toilet and shower and much more.

The Hover Mower

The HoverMower is the perfect answer to uneven lawns that are usually quite difficult to mow with a traditional lawn mower. Why? Because, it floats on a cushion of air and has no wheels, so mowing in any direction is fast and easy. The HoverMower can cut steep slopes, lake banks, and sand traps and hard to mow areas that have awkward angles even if the grass is wet. This is a really cool lawn gadget!

Tangent Quattro WiFi Alarm Radio

If you enjoy listening to Internet radio rather than traditional radio, then the Tangent Quattro WiFi Alarm Radio is the answer to waking up to your choice of over 6000 Internet radio stations. Just connect to your wireless network and tune-in to your favorite radio programs and music, so that you are awakened to the sounds that you enjoy.

E-Cigarette

The E-Cigarette is an alternative “Anti Cigarette Nicotine Replacement Therapy” that is designed to help smokers quit the unhealthy, nasty smoking habit. The E-Cigarette is inhaled and the user will exhale smoke and receive a nicotine fix in the process, but without inhaling harmful tar and carcinogenic found in real cigarettes. Now wait, you haven't heard the best part. You do not light up this cigarette, because it is an electronic gadget with its own built-in power source for safety. The E-Cigarette (5) cartridges that are included in the stop smoking system delivers 400 tobacco flavored, nicotine mouthfuls (Aprox 30 cigarettes) gradually reducing the nicotine doses with each cartridge smoked.

Flying Stick Camera

This gadget jarred an old childhood memory of playing with a flying toy called the Whirly-Bird, but the one that I played with wasn't as cool as this one is. The Flying Stick has a built-in camera that snaps photographs as it twirls through the air. Currently, just a concept prototype with possibly military and mainstream market potential. That is, if the price isn't too high.

USB Wireless Missile Launcher

Futuristic warfare hasn't ever been this sweet, as this USB remote control wireless missile launcher clearly demonstrates. Invite up to 3 other friends over with their laptops and prepare for battle. This awesome missile launcher can be controlled up to 15 feet away while rotating 360 degrees around and about 45 degrees up and down. Once your target moves within 10 feet of the launcher quickly give the order to fire and let them have it. Missile launching sound effects could be used to create a diversion allowing you to take the target out, before you are taken out first.

Air Mattress

For the geeks that want the most futuristic sleeping arrangements available, then you need not look any further, because this bed levitates 16 inches above the floor using magnetic fields. The sleek, simplistic design and the $1.5 million dollar price tag probably make this the most expensive bed you'll ever own.

Iwavecube Personal Microwave

This is one very cool cooking appliance that is often taken for granted until you need are somewhere without one nearby. Microwaves can be found in nearly 90 % of US households, but they are usually way to big and heavy to move once you have it where you want it. The Iwavecube measures a mere 10.5”x12”x10” making it the first portable personal microwave that I personally have ever seen. Take it to work or dorm room or wherever there is a electrical outlet, and then heat your lunch or just a bag of popcorn whenever the mood strikes.

Aptera's Super-MPG Electric Typ-1h

Let's face reality for a minute. Oil and gas prices are rising and fully electric power cars are too expensive and not practical to drive more than 120 miles on a single charge, but the Aptera Typ-1h boasts that it will hit 300 mpg with its eco-friendly hybrid electric gasoline Aptera Super-MPG Electric Typ-1h car. Checkout the cool test drive video to watch a comprehensive demonstration of the Aptera Typ-e1 and prepared to be amazed.

Real Fireplace Illuminational Heater

Much of the world experience frigid cold conditions in the wintertime and since electric and natural gas prices are soaring through the roof. More people are purchasing portable electric heaters to heat their environments to save some money on their utility bill. The Real Fireplace not only heats the area, but also has a built-in flatscreen display of virtual wood burning. Own a real fireplace without the dirty mess to cleanup. Available in Japan for just 25,800 yen ($242) and if you ask really nice the company may be willing to ship via FedEx, but you'll never know until you try.

Projection Mobile Phone

Just when we think that we have seen it all in cell phone technology, and then comes along an innovative improvement that leaves you almost speechless. The Projection Mobile Phone uses an USB cable to connect to a user's computer, and then projects an image of the computer screen on any flat wall when the phone is laid flat down and open. The future is coming! The future is coming!! This is currently only a cell phone concept, but could hit the market, if the market demand is great enough.

Tarati Touchless Cellphone

This is probably the most innovative cell phone that I have ever seen and I have seen plenty researching for this article. The Tarati Touchless Cellphone looks like something that warped right out of a science fiction movie, but it is real. Users poke their finger through the number holes and a light built into the number slots record the number chosen. Its design is sleek and simple which makes this my number one choice for future cell phone purchases.

iMono 80-in-1 High Speed Card Reader

This is a great little gadget that is sure to please any geek or nerd that uses other electronic gadgets and digital cameras. It seems that just about every new gadget are either coming with built-in memory or are using memory cards and these memory cards create a dilemma, because not all computers come with latest card reader size reader slots. The iMono 80-in-1 High Speed Card Reader not only has just about every size card reader size memory card slots, but this little gadget boosts the transfer data at lightening speed.

Creative Videophone

Now, I can see where this cool gadget would find a market with business professionals, because of its videophone feature, but it may be a hard sell to reach any further. With a 7-inch LCD screen and 16.7 million colors to display and a TI DaVinci chipset and a built-in 76-degree wide VGA camera, this videophone allows users to work hassle-free for up to 2 hours.

Uber Orbs

Not all cool gadgets need to be a high-tech, Urbergeek innovative technology to peek a geek's interest. The Uber Orbs is a fine example of this. Made from powerful magnets and actually having no other use other than pulling them apart and tossing them into the air in close proximity of one another and watching them or better yet, hearing them create an unusual sound as they crash back together again. Probably good for a stress reliever or for younger geeks and nerds it would make for a nice toy.

USB PC Central Locking

If you own a laptop computer, then you have surely worried at times that if you leave your pc unattended for even a minute, then it could possibly fall prey to an unwanted guest. With the USB PC Central Locking device, a user simply plugs it into the USB port and when you move more than 2 meters away from your pc the locking gadget secures the pc by locking it, so no one can access it without your permission. The user carries a remote and it communicates with the USB PC Central Locking device each time the user moves away or moves within the 2-meter lockout range.

Wi-Fi Hot Spot Detector

Wireless PC users will love this Wi-Fi Hot Spot Detector, because it allows the user to locate Wi-Fi hot spots without the need to boot up the PC and start roaming for a Wi-Fi signal. Its small compact design makes this useful gadget compact enough to attach to a keyring to carry around.

Chocolate Portable HDD

Now, this is a Hard Drive with a new attitude and a fresh design. Surrounding a central touchscreen hub are 16 modular flash drives, this portable HDD gives new meaning organization. This gadget allows users to view and organize those important files that you want to secure with care.

Radia Circular Cell Phone by Michael Laut

Well, I don't even know where to start with this unusually unique concept cell phone. So, let me begin with its circular shape, and then next lets jump right over to its very cool touch-display and its brushed aluminum outer rim with built-in microphone that extends 180-degrees around its perimeter, which actually leaves me speechless beyond this point.

Nokia 888 Concept Phone

Do you remember playing with a toy bracelet that had a thin flexible metal band that was covered with a cheap fabric partly used to prevent the metal from injuring the user and partly used to make the bracelet appealing to own? Well, this phone is flexible and bendy and a fully functional cell phone that you can wear as a bracelet or bend into different shapes if it pleases you to do so.

The Slide and Negative To Digital Picture Converter

This is a neat gadget to use if your family is anything like mine, then you probably have a box filled with old family slides and negatives of family reunions and baby pictures, but do not have a projector to look through them. Converting your slides and negatives into a portable digital version is made easy with “The Slide and Negative To Picture Converter”, so you can invite your family and friends over and remember the good ol' days again.

NEC Tag Concept Phone

Here's another bendable cell phone, but NEC manufactures this one. It uses a shape-memorizing rubber-like material that allows the user to easily change the phone's shape at will. Users can wear this phone like a bracelet or just simply bend it to see what shapes that you can make. It is a functional cell phone that is my opinion would be nearly impossible to drop and break, but anything can be broken if the conditions are ripe for it to break.

LawnBott LB3500

Excuse me, I had to pinch myself, because this is the lawn mower I always wished I had when I was a teenager. The LawnBott LB3500 reminds me of a mars rover instead of any lawn mower that I have ever seen. The company claims “it can comfortably handle 1 acre of grass straight out of the box and nearly 3 acres with a full compliment of lithium ion batteries.” It works on its own traveling back and forth and around corners until it is finished cutting the lawn area. It is so smart that it automatically calculates when the job is completed. Power-up and let the LawnBott LB3500 do all of the hard work, while you sit and relax sipping on a glass on cold iced tea.

EZVision i-Theater

Get ready for a movie experience of the 21st century with the EZVision i-theater that you wear like a pair of futuristic sunglasses. The EZVision i-theater allows the user to watch a movie or video of their choice, while simulating a 50-inch television screen and surround sound entertainment. Compatible with i-Pods makes this fantastic gadget a geek's dream come true. Now, only if it allowed users to play their favorite video games while wearing it that would have this clever gadget selling likes hotcakes.

Zero Gravity Wall Climber

Remote controlled vehicles have just leaped into the twilight zone, because unless my eyes deceive me, this remote controlled Hummer is climbing walls. The Zero Gravity Hummer knows no boundaries; because when flat ground isn't exciting enough this vehicle will do what no other remote control has gone before - right up the wall.

Break

This website allows visitors to submit their videos, games, and photos, so that other members in the community can rate and comment on the content. Of course, this website doesn't compare to the massive content of “YouTube” but it still is worth checking out.

Swaptree

Swap your old books, music, movies and games for something new with another Swaptree member. Play the lotto daily for free and get your chance to win up to $10 million dollars. I have been a member for years and have occasionally won a few bucks, but no really big money, so far. There are six lotto games where you could win cash, cars or homes everyday and for nothing out-of-pocket.
Treeloot

Treeloot has hidden a cache of cash and other prizes in their prize tree and you have to find it - to win it. Treeloot is really easy to play, just point in any location on the tree and click using your mouse to reveal if you found any prizes. Surprisingly, this is a very addicting game for a couple of days, and then it starts to get old.

PopCap

PopCap is a fun website to play games online. The majority of games are very addictive interactive puzzles, spelling and strategy games that nearly anyone would enjoy. There are many free games and limited trial version games to choose from, but PopCap does sell game downloads, if a player wishes to own a copy of a game to play offline. There is no pop-up windows or spyware to worry about here at this site.

Paranoia Online

Let's face it we are not alone online. Some of us might even feel as if we have a Bill Gates intellect following us online since the complexity of our web surfing and interfacing are not your mundane check email and play checkers on Pogo. My typical day online includes Wordsy and I always like to check in on Planet Save for email and to see if they are following my serious comments on the environment. They are really deep into saving the rainforest. I always go to yahoo to see what the normal people online are doing and I check in on my
Yahoo
book and email.

I like to read offbeat blogs like Kaine Square Space just to see what I am thinking about lately. I scroll through the blogs on Blog Tool Kit and see what I am doing in Europe in Know What You Are Living For. I then top my day at Pogo

I know I am being followed, and the paranoia creeps in on me like a growling stomach by noon. I check my regular local emails. When I see strange email after email quoting discussions in chat rooms or making reference to websites that I have surfed and not pleasant email either by the way and not computer generated thank you for visiting ones either, then I know that someone is spending a lot of time letting me know that I am being followed.

Since I would give them my itinerary if they asked, what I really want to know is who is footing the bill for their vicarious online stalking and how many of them are needed to follow how many of us? What do they want, I say?

What is really freaky though is when your compute on DSL shuts down and you get a hang up phone call at the same time. That is freaky! I could find other ways of making us retired and online junkies snap, they could actually make sense on CNN and announcers would quit talking to themselves using phrases that make no sense on what they are supposed to be telling us.
