Firefox Basics

This is a small tutorial on how to get Firefox 3, and make it so much easier to use. This tutorial helped my dad, and im sure it might help you. So what are we waiting for? Lets go ahead and start!

Downloading

As most of you know, Firefox is a tremendous improvement and replacement for Internet Explorer. And click the "Free Download" button. Once you set it up and install, go ahead and open it up!

Adding Usability

Ok. We get Firefox open. Set it as your default browser, and follow these instructions:

Go to addons.mozilla.org

Search for and download the following addons

Adblock Plus

Fast Dial

Greasemonkey

Stylish

Sxipper

Foxmarks

Restart Firefox.

Once that is done, lets go on to setting these up.

Configuring the Addons

Go to Tools>AdBlock Plus, and then go ahead and block the names of annoying sites that put out ads. Oh, by the way, subscribe to the Easylist subscription. Here are a few filters you should add:

adbrite

yimg

adultfriendfinder

And then go ahead and lets configure Fast Dial. Oh wait, you dont need to. Open up a new tab by using Ctrl+T, and there it is. Click on any of the 12 squares, and you can add a button to go to up to 12 common sites you use. You can add styles and scripts to modify the appearance and function of certain websites by going to http://userstyles.org/ (Stylish) http://userscripts.org/ (Greasemonkey) These addons are great. Sxipper is a password manager. There is too much to explain about it, so go ahead and configure it. Lastly, Foxmarks is a bookmark sync program that lets you sync two FF bookmarks into one account on the Foxmarks server.

Use It!

Firefox is a great browser. I have unlocked almost no potential to it. Use it, and you will soon figure out that its an AWESOME program, and you will love it to death. You can customize it even further with more addons, themes, and other stuff.

Bye!

I hope you enjoyed reading this guide. I had a lot of fun writing it, and I hope these 2242 letters/characters helped you out. Stay tuned for more tutorials on Firefox, and have a great day. =)

Thanks.

Making Friends on the Internet

The internet has become the new Super Highway for information. You can now send and receive messages in almost no time at all. You can talk to people all around the world, share photos, writings, even meet people and grow new friendships that last a lifetime. Do you remember the days of snail mail? You would wait weeks sometimes months for a letter from a pen pal. Then it would come and the excitement within you would be boiling over because you finally got the mail. You would sit glued to the new letter reading and treasuring every last detail contained within it. I know, I sure do remember. But I also remember the let down as well because the advice or moment you were trying to share was long over by the time your friends received that precious letter you sent them.

The internet has rocketed forwards and what we once thought to be a great achievement of modern day technology has now become the dinosaur, yes a thing of the past. Businesses are being created and ran from home using computers and web sites all by means of this wonderful modern day technological advancement called the internet. The internet has bridged the gap and has eliminated the walls and miles that separate so many. With but a click of the mouse you can join and inform the entire world of news in a nana second. You can start your cam and within but a very few moments see your friends and talk with them almost as if you were sitting in their room with them.

If I were asked though what the internet has done for me and how has it changed my life? I would have to say, it has helped me to help others as well as myself. It has given me yet another family of great new friends. Friends that are always willing to sit and talk. Friends that share parts of their hearts with me that no other has seen. It has given me my life mate. It has taken me to all four corners of the world; giving me the tools and the means to see and reach deep into the hearts and mindsets of others. The internet has also brought me together with people of like mind and by doing so it has helped me to move forward on the walk of life I've chosen.

It has helped me to research many things and to catalog the results of my research. Yes, the internet has shown me that great endings often have small beginnings. It has become an ongoing educational part of my life and has helped me pass on the knowledge of my lifetime and the lessons I've learned along the way. Yes, for me the internet is a wonderful new concept.

Seven of the Unusually Oddest Websites on the Net

There is lots of crazy stuff on the Internet, and everyone has their own idea of what is weird, strange, or just plain eccentric. These seven websites are all odd, and you may not understand exactly what the point is, but they can crack you up. And then again, some of the sites here are just plain weird. You be the judge...

Another Day, Another Word

This is quite a weird website that contains only one word, at its center, that changes everyday. So there's a new word for your vocabulary everyday. Apart from that, you could say that this is pretty much a useless website.

The World's Highest Website

We've heard of the world's highest building or even the highest monuments, but the world's highest website? Though this website does not contain anything much, it is 18.939 kilometers “high” (that's around 11.77 miles)!

End of the Internet

“All good things come to an end.” Really true - even the internet does! Check out this webpage, which is supposedly the “last page of the internet”.

I Hate Internet Explorer

For those who hate Microsoft Internet Explorer, this is (perhaps) the ultimate website, which states “….Internet Explorer does NOT follow web standards” and names other web-browsers which are meant to work better than Microsoft Internet Explorer. The strange thing is, the owner(s) of the website wasted money just to convey that small a message?

Deleted Images

This website is dedicated to images that weren't meant to exist. If you have taken any photos that you do not need because they did not come out well, then this website welcomes you to donate those photos to them.

The Longest Website (in Letters)

So, people even spend their money just to get the world's longest website. We aren't talking about a few thousand dollars here - it's a matter of millions of dollars - all for a name! And Shakespeare actually asked “What's in a name?”

The Longest Website (in Numerals)

This website is quite similar to the previously mentioned one, only that this one is based on numerals and not on letters. What is more is that the website contains only two words and the title of the website.
