Stumble Roulette

The following is a preliminary set of rules, for what I like to call "Stumble Roulette".

Stumbleupon Button
Web Browser (Firefox or Internet Explorer)

How To Play:

Pick any number of topics you want in your preferences, but make certain to enable XXX content (adult content). This is the digital equivalent of loading the chambers of the gun.

Anytime you click the stumbleupon button, wait to see if you get the following content:

1. Internet Meme (Rickroll, "Motivational Poster", LOLCat, etc)
2. Random Photo Site
3. SEO Blog/Website
4. List of [insert topic] (Photoshop brushes, tutorials, freeware, etc)
5. Digg (or an article snippet leading to another real article)
6. Something Which Is Mentally Scarring (read: most of 4chan)
7. Porn (from mild to extreme)
8. A search engine result or Wikipedia type article
9. Random image on it's own (also classified as an online comic)
10. Something which can be classified as Illegal (Torrents, Downloads, Etc)

Now that we've defined the "bullets", everything else can be defined as empty chambers. The idea is simple:

When you press the Stumble Button, whatever site that comes up can be defined by these rules. If it counts as a Bullet, then you rate it up or down with only the following as a comment: "BANG!". You must write the comment if it is a bullet.

If it is not a Bullet, then feel free to rate it and write whatever you want as the comment.

There you go, very simple.

Why is this game so fun?

The very nature of Stumbleupon makes this game perfect, and highly entertaining. Stumbleupon is geared toward figuring out your browsing habits and then sending you more of what you like, so every time you rate something with a thumbs up, stumbleupon notes that and tries to bring you more of the same theme. This, in turn, make it more fun for the following reasons:

1. Whether it's bad or not, people will inevitably thumbs up something from the bullet chamber. This in turn increases the likelihood that more bullets will be loaded into the chamber.

2. The real fun comes with people intentionally loading the chamber with bullets. ie: intentionally searching for porn or bullet content and rating it in order to get it circulating in the stumble directory.

3. More fun can be had if you take a shot/drink every time you get a bullet.

There you have it, the first set of rules for the internet game Stumble Roulette. Feel free to amend these rules or better define them, as is the nature of the Internet itself that things evolve over time.

How to Find Topics to Blog About

I can't say that I am the world's best blogger, or even close to that, but I think I have a strong sense of what people want to read about. So here are some of my favorite ways to find topics:

Go to whatever news site or news paper that you read and find the most interesting story in it. You can even use some local news subjects, like local crime and political decisions. If your using an national or international topic, you want to start with lots of research. Study up on the subject, and then start writing. Make sure to use your own words when you write, you want to avoid any legal issues. And you should probably list sources at the end as well. Now for local articles, if you are going to use one of these make sure that it is either funny or extremely interesting. Once you have the perfect article, try to get more information on it from local sources, then again write in your own words an article about it on your blog. Hopefully other people share your sense of humor or share similar interests. The hottest topic right now is Politics, Politics and more politics.

Watch YouTube. YouTube is one of the best places to find out what people are interested in. Go into the most discussed or most viewed videos sections in the video tab. Go through the list and find something that you can blog about. You can really b.og about anything. You can embed a funny video on your page and say your opinion on it. If you find a how-to video embed it, and give some more information and explain the how-to further. Then once again news. You can find a news video that millions of people have watched and write more information and go further into the subject.

Just talk to people. Find out what they are interested in and then write about it.

And one last way is to review things. The most popular reviews are usually on electronics, but also you can review video games, movies, and books. You might even like to make a video to accompany your review to show the device or anything in more depth. Also put lots of pictures on the page.

Hope this has helped you and hope to see you blogs in the future.

When Flash Goes Evil: 10 Online Nastimations for Your Perverse Pleasure

Save the Bunny

Fred is a cute little bunny wunny and his heart has stopped beating. You have a minute to get his heart back in working order before the cute wikka wabbit goes to that curry pot in the sky. Fortunately you have a range of surgical instruments to help but time is working against you! In less than a minute you have to prepare Fred for surgery, make an incision and get that little heart beating again. If you fail, off to heaven he goes. Not for the squeamish or teddy bear fans!

To Know Becky is to want to Kill Becky

Meet Becky - possibly the most irritating little girl on the internet! She has a lot to say for herself and - as you can guess it's all about "me, me, me". A satire on the hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of websites out there that are devoted to recording the minutiae of a person's life and that no-one (repeat no-one) ever visits on purpose. After a little time with Becky you will begin to realize that lolcats are actually quite amusing and rickrolling should be back in fashion. That is, if you don't go out and shoot yourself!

Countdown

If you take your laptop on a plane and feel upset about the seat in which you have been placed, the person next to you or the general princess of pop demeanor of your air steward then you may want to play this naughty flash animation while they are hovering around. Generally and advisedly speaking, unless you want to spend a year or two in Hotel Guantanamo you may wish to keep it to yourself and snigger about what people's reactions would be were you to allow them to see this!

Palin as President - Be Afraid

Not since Margaret Thatcher was unceremoniously removed from power has the western world shuddered so involuntarily at the thought of a lady at the top of the political tree of an occidental power. Whether you love her or hate her you will not be able to suppress a titter as you play with President Palin in the Oval Office. You can open the curtains to see what is going on outside, play with the toy bridge on her desk or throw darts at a list of outrageous baby names. Pure wicked bliss to be had here - you were warned!

An End User License

If you have ever brought a product from a certain Seattle based global enterprise then you should really read the small print before you install it on to your PC. That small print should really be read and gone through with a fine tooth comb. With a little help from a few ants and a magnifying glass, you too can discover the reality of the situation. Who needs the devil when you can sell your soul to Mr Gates?

Pumpkin Head

If you tire of the yearly mess-fest in the kitchen (and other rooms) that is Halloween, then simply unleash the power of the internet on your kids instead. OK, these are not pumpkins you can put on your porch but it may just keep the kids quiet for a minute or two. This feisty piece of flash allows you to create your own pumpkin. All you need is some time to waste and a steady hand and you can have your own set within nanoseconds. The above attempt is my own - go on, see if you can do any better!

See Adolf Dance

If you like watching despotic maniacs dance, then this may well be for you. There is a certain madness here and although you may not find anything offensive it serves as a reminder that ridicule can be used to good effect, even when the horrors of history fail to do so.

You may have a friend (or two) who doesn't know much about the internet do those people still exist?). Send them a link to this little beauty and you will be able to tell straight away if they are net-savvy or one of those people who pretend they are. While not particularly evil, this may well be enough to get them scratching their heads. You may well find out what sort of sense of humor they have too!

Mood Music

The Swedish band Lodger are well known for their depressing lyrics - in fact they make Radiohead and The Smiths look like a day out in the park. With ice cream and ducks going quack. This is a day out in a very dark park, the story of a man thrown out by his partner. It's all down hill from there as he fails to make life bearable afterwards. Flash gone really bad: hide the razor blades!

If you hated the television series Heroes because it was about as far up its own rear end as it could be without reappearing out of its mouth and flying away, then this animated short is for you. A fairly blistering satire as far as blisteringness and satiricism go; you may even get a small thrill if it is your favorite TV series of all time. Doubtful, but a possibility!

13 Links for Halloween

Celebrated on the night of October 31 Halloween is an ancient tradition. Children go out trick-or-treating dressed up as anything and everything, while other popular activities include ghost tours, bonfires, fancy dress parties, staying in haunted buildings, carving pumpkins into lanterns, and of course, scary stories and horror movies also have their place. The tradition began in europe and was also carried to North America in the nineteenth century by Irish immigrants.

The festival's origins date back to ancient Celtic festivals and in particular a festival known as Samhain. This was a celebration conducted at the end of the harvest season in the ancient Gaelic comunities. The ancient pagans would take stock of supplies to ensure they had enough to see them through the harsh winter. They would also slaughter livestock, so they had food (preserved with salt) to see them through the winter. The ancients believed that on October 31, the great boundary between the two great realms of the living and the dead would break down and the dead would drift out into the earth and cause all manner of woe for the living. The festivals would be heald to ward off the evil spirits with bonfires, costumes, masks, and sacrifices.

11 Ways to Search Without Google But Still Find the Things You Want

Google is used by people all over the world. It is one of the most popular search engines to date. However, there may be times where you can't find the things you want which can be really frustrating. Why not be more adventurous by breaking away from the Google addiction? You may try out the other alternatives that are available. As the saying goes, there's always no harm to try.

Here are 11 search engines (other than Google) where you can still find exactly what you want...

Technorati

Technorati is by far the best alternative to Google. The 'blog search' allows you to search the hottest blog items, including a list of 'most-linked-to' blogs, a top searches list, as well as movies, music, games and videos that most bloggers link to. It is user-friendly as you can sort results according to timeliness (based on the newest content) or blogs with more inbound links.

Draze MetaSearch

Just like a typical Google page, this site allows you to search results from Google, Yahoo! and MSN quickly. You can choose to view the results from either one of the search engines. There is a 'Peek-a-Boo' feature that gives you page previews so that you do not have to click through unnecessary pages.

Rollyo

stands for Roll Your Own Search Engine. It allows you do category or general searches to get results from the Web or blogs. You may also create your own search engine if you intend to search only specific sites.Rollyo

Clusty

Clusty collects the results from several search engines (excluding Google) and arranges them in clusters to further refine your search. For instance, a search for Sony Vaio returns clusters such as various Sony Vaio model numbers, reviews and prices.

Ask.com

Focusing on "subject-specific popularity", this site is rich in features. It orders results by 'popularity' among pages considered to be experts on the topic of your search. The 'page-preview' and 'editorially selected smart answers' are its best features.

Chacha

At Chacha, you can chat with a real-life professional by submitting your query, and he will return you with results that are customised to your needs and specifications. The service is free and you can have a whole lot of fun.

Scour

Scour aggregates the results from Google, Yahoo! and MSN. There is a social element where users can 'vote' the results up or down.

StumbleUpon

StumbleUpon lets you rate pages and sites that you visit with the thumbs-up/thumbs-down icons in your toolbar. Once it learns your preferences, it becomes better at directing you to the topics you like. You can also add friends to your list. Their preferences will help to further refine your search results. This website is great for finding content that you may not be able to find elsewhere.

Kosmix

This search engine is based on searches by category, including politics, finance, health, travel, autos, video games, etc. It scored better with less-time sensitive issues and search terms. For example, it provided lots of information (prevention, cures and risk factors) on health-related topics.

Can't Find on Google

If you can't get any result for your search query on Google, you may post it here and wait for another user to help you. However, the response-to-post ratio is not very high as there are too many queries. But it is still worth a try if you are desperately looking for something that you can't find on Google.

netTrekker

This site is targeted at schools and students. Each site listed in the search results has been specifically selected by educators whose aim is to ensure safe surfing.

With so many search engines around, I am sure you will be able to find the things you want on the internet. Hope you will find this list useful. All the best!

Google Chrome: Beta

Google just released a new web browser they had been working on for about 2 years now. It was said that when Microsoft released Internet Explorer 7, Google got very serious about the web browser and how to improve it and make it better than any web browser our there!
I myself have personally reviewed this web browser, and it is indeed fast, as it is only in the BETA stag, things such as IRC support, Add-ons, and Plug-ins are still not built into the browser. They may release the support and few other extra's when it finalizes the real launch. But for now you can download it on the Google homepage, they have a "New!" sign right next to it.

It's been on the news it quite a lot of places, who knows, maybe Google will be releasing an Auction website soon enough and it may over take eBay over time. The official BETA release date was September 2, 2008 11:59:59 PM. Right now they do not know the actual launch date of the new web browser, but there is websites where you can keep up to date on what is happening.

When you install Google Chrome, you have the choice to choose if you want to send crash reports and other things to Google if the program crashes so they can fix it. Some people agree that it is nice they allow you the option to choose.

I hope this helps you in making a good choice on which web browser to shoot for, thanks for reading.

10 Free&easy Ways to Beat Boredom Using Your PC

So first off a bit of background to this content. Last night, 12/08/08, I was bored beyond belief. So then I wondered how can I beat boredom?

Needless to say because of the title of my article I did indeed beat my boredom but then once again it struck me down today, hence this article and my first point!

No summer job for me so, on the internet searching it for techniques on how to make money online. Found a few sites that were pretty good where you get paid per click and so on but there were also some scam sites! (E.G. AWsurveys.com) Anyways that was all good early on in the summer but last night by accident I clicked www.triond.com on my bookmarks instead of going to another site! “What's this?” I asked to myself and when I got there I remembered. Straight away on to my old content, there it was, only one article but making me money while I did nothing! So first tip for beating boredom? Make money!

This one is actually quite fun. I use my imagination to come up with something like an event I have to organise or a party I have to go to, then I set myself a budget, say £100 or £3000, whatever! Then I go on something like ebay and I try to make an outfit for the party using my budget. It's also fun doing it with friends like who can find the weirdest thing for sale online! Once I found gorilla boogers and human toenails! Or you can just imagine you won the lottery and look at things you'll never get….. :'-(

This one is a no-brainer! Go find games to play online! There is the obvious such as MiniClipbut then there is the real jewels of the gaming world where you have to find the games yourself on random sites! I won't spoil the fun by naming them!

Build a website! I use FreeWebs but there are many others you can use! You can make it about anything you want like dedicate it to a sports team or movie. Maybe a place to chat to your friends? YOUR website, NO limits!

Share your knowledge! Go to www.yahoo.com/answers and answer questions that people have asked with your own knowledge or ask your own question you just can't answer!

Ok so once again this one is one of them “DUH!” ones but still, it beats boredom and that is watching movies online, funny clips and listening to music. Told you…DUH!

Join a chat room or a blog! Don't listen to all these people telling you to not go on chat rooms, most of them are family friendly and full of nice people!

Visit bored.com Trust me! You will not be bored after going there!

Learn some simple magic tricks, riddles or jokes and then tell your family and friends. The looks on their faces will make you feel better and learning them will occupy you for a while!

Last but not least! Don't get bored! If all these suggestions don't work then get outside my friend, your skin needs to see sunlight and your underwear needs a change!
