Setting Goals for Your Web Site

Building a web site has almost become a fad amongst company professionals but with a very vague reasoning as to what do they need it for. Ranging from the most bizarre to the most unexpected reasons, the fact is that most of them are actually not aware of the basic advantages that they can enjoy from their own web site.

Thinking of the most common reasons that have been by various business pros for having an official site, the ones that may come into anyone's mind are:

To impart knowledge about the various products and services being offered by us.

To advertise the enterprise on the web and provide the contact numbers globally

Because our competitors have had one too and I thought it was an added benefit(this one is the most lamest)

How far do you think are these reasons only, the justifications for owning a web site, in which you are putting in capital? Every business chalks out a plan and divides in capital for every department. Of all the investments they make, be it in the advertising or the sale and purchase, they estimate a return on the investment made, which is the sole reason for doing it. Similarly, while building a web site, the money that you are putting in is also an investment, on which the returns need to be profitable as well and the above stated justifications would only cover your site's designing bills, leave apart the profits.

It is very essential to realize the real assets of your web site, and list the goals that you want to achieve by creating it. Not only does it help you in generating a good profit but also helps your business' airplane to take off for a sky high ride.

Some points that must be kept in mind while realizing goals are:

Concentrate on the detailing: Being specific is the key of the game. The more you are specific about what you are aiming at, the easier it is to achieve it.

Try to be realistic: Your zeal and enthusiasm to reach heights drives you to make some of the most imaginary goals. Hence it's recommended that you aim for things that you feel you can manage. Trying to achieve things that you feel could exhaust you in the midway would mean wastage of your resources.

Follow set deadlines: The one law in life, which is universal for all aspects, is "stick your deadlines". It is quite difficult to follow them, but then, it sure gets you a cut above the rest

Furthermore, the three most important goals that can actually categorize for your business web site and best fit for it are:

For generating revenue: This tried and tested method has become quite popular with the companies who sell products but not primarily for services. Though an e-commerce site would involve a little extra investment for it would demand a dynamic web page which needs loads of programming as compared to the static web page consisting of just the details of the company. But, it is surely going to give a boost to your profits as in this busy and technology driven world; people have resorted to e shopping big time.

For providing info about the company: The most common function of a web site, is to provide the contact numbers of the work place. The site that deals with just this might be economical but would not be of any major help for producing gains for the business.

For generating lead: These days, promotional products and offers have become one of the most sought after ways for giving a push to the business and creating a mass awareness about the product. But the distribution of such products demands having a good database of consumers and their contact numbers who are interested in your goods. For this, a web site, which has the facility of form filling as a survey or something like this is very fruitful. It not only gives you an opportunity to inform the maximum number of consumers but also keep a record of the increase or decrease in the popularity of the goods.

To wrap it up, it is advisable to design a strategy for your web site that contains aims and goals. It is bound to give you a good response!

Social Networking with a Cause

Theme

For almost a year now, I've been trying to share useful information with people who enjoy social networking online. Generations to come will be able to benefit from the skills we all possess - the ability to create and maintain networks online.

Social Networking - Background

Generation Y started social networking sites, and we've all witnessed the growth of these sites. Sites like these are producing a large amount of money from advertising revenue. Why? Because it just makes sense. Why does a business or company choose to advertise on billboard signs and commercials? Because the more exposure they get to the general population, the better. It's the same idea with websites. If there are millions of people using a site, advertisers jump at the chance to have exposure in a large market of a targeted population.

The future of social networking?

I believe that the people who are creating and maintaining relationships on these sites can and will benefit financially in the future. Imagine a site where the creator shares this advertising revenue with its active members who are helping to grow the network. Now imagine what young people could do with extra money that is being generated from such efforts. We could actually help change the landscape of our world by having the ability to donate, or by having more time to give to our families and/or those in need. The millions of dollars that are being made from advertising revenue on sites like myspace or facebook could actually be shared amongst a large population of social networkers with a cause - and only those that are serious and devoted would share a substantial portion of this revenue.

Learn more about this movement here, and let me know what you think.

Targeting Triond Articles for Money, Not Just Popularity

Triond showcases the articles submitted to them on a variety of different websites. The amount of money you earn each time someone views your article is dependent on the advertising revenue from the website that publishes it. The earnings you realize can vary considerably from one website to another, but in my experience, the amount is relatively constant within a site, at least in the short term. This is likely to vary somewhat over time as new advertisers are added and others dropped, but if you want to maximize your earnings, it is prudent to review your success periodically.

Articles that make the most money are generally the ones getting the most hits, but an article with the same number of hits published on a different website can bring in more money. To determine your earnings per hit for each website, first find out where each of your articles has been published. Then, use the data Triond provides on your Content page for all your articles published on the same website. Add up the total earnings and divide by the total views. The higher the result, the more money earned per hit.

Of the five websites for which I feel I have a good accounting of my results (at least 300 hits), I find that Gomestic articles give the best return at $.0044/hit, followed by Quazen at $.0030/hit, Socyberty at $.0021/hit, WebUpon at $.0017/hit and finally Cinemaroll at $.0012/hit. This means that articles that are published on Gomestic make twice as much money per visit as those on Socyberty.

To maximize your results, I recommend comparing the earnings per hit on various websites, then choosing those that give the best returns, reading some of the articles from those sites to get an idea of the sorts of topics published there, and tailoring your writing accordingly. Then, to further refine your subject matter, you might want to visit Google Trend, where you can review user search data to determine comparative popularity.

Hot content can be found on any of Triond's websites. Having a popular article published on a high revenue website will put more money in your bank account.

21 Ways to Make Your Website a Success

Make your website load quickly and if you use flash or something bandwidth hungry make sure your visitors have something to watch while it loads

Get someone impartial to view your website for a maximum of five seconds and then tell you what it's about and what they remember seeing. This can be an eye-opener and help you clear away clutter from your main page to show just the main features

Make sure (and sure means absolutely sure) that all links within your website work and that all links to outside sites are good and make a point of allocating time to check this each week

Never use free hosting, get your own domain name and some proper paid-for hosting

Offer something valuable completely free to download in exchange for an email address and offer the link to this in big letters on the main page

Have a time each week when you review and think about your website, what it has achieved and what you intend to do in the future and try to put in place at least one change

Add new content at least each day, even if it's only something small, putting a link on the main page to the new content and then show the update date at the page bottom

Each week check how interactive your website has been and try to think of new ways to make it more interactive by using forums or polls

Have a policy, a direction and a goal that you can write down and explain to people if you had to and also make sure you know how much money your site is making

Look at sites similar to yours and list five reasons why they are better and five reasons why they are worse

List in your head all the ways you promote your website online and try to think of three more

List in your head all the ways you promote your website offline and try to think of three more

Write (or get) - good content and always (that is always) spellcheck everything before you post and make sure there are no exceptions to this

Look at your stats and ask yourself this question: "If I split my site in two would the two sites make more revenue (or traffic) than the one I have already?"

Check emails from customers or readers regularly and try to answer them the same day

Take the time to optimise your site for search engines and make sure that each page is as good as you can get it - nothing helps build a site better or quicker than this!

Would a blog drive more traffic your way? If you haven't time to write one yourself, advertise for a blogger to do it for you

Publish a sitemap and use it yourself to work out where visitors go and make sure that the navigation is set up for them to easily move around and go where you want them to go

Make sure you get people to test your site and give you feedback on problems they encounter and also get them to check after major changes or from time to time

Make your site is accessible

Remember, your site is never finished! Make sure that you are always thinking about it and about ways to improve and grow

Become a Successful Internet Entrepreneur

Do you want to make your online business succeed? You will learn how to make sales and earn more revenue online.

If you do not already have a web site, create one at web.com. If you do not have anything to sell, look for a drop-shipping business online that will deliver merchandise you sell.

A great home page is crucial. Create a special headline. If you sell financial advice, your headline could say, "Manage Your Finances Well! Retire at an Early Age!" Your home page should briefly explain what you sell. To create curiosity and get visitors to stay, do not provide specifics on your home page.

Your site must be organized. The background image that is automatically provided on every page should be one related to your business. Proofread your site. Create a site map page that provides a link to every page. Provide a link to the site map page at the bottom of every page. Test all links and graphics often.

Provide a contact form - you can create one by using the "add a table" feature. All forms must look professional. The text must be easy to read and blend well with the color of the form's background. E-mail the form to yourself to see exactly how your prospects' information will look to prevent mistakes.

Fully explain all aspects of your business and make sure there is no information that will cause confusion. Tell visitors everything they must do to receive something. If your site says particular information can be found on a particular page, make sure it is there.

Provide quality and consistency throughout your site. Use a twelve-inch font for your text. Use black text. Do not use a page background color that is too dark. Use the same color for your text, title and background on every page.

Build visitors' trust. Provide a line that reveals your company name, physical address and telephone number at the top of every page. Provide your photo on your profile page. Provide a privacy policy that lets visitors know you keep their information confidential.

Let visitors know if your payment options are secure. Follow all promises you make. Always give a quick response to calls and contact form submissions.

Provide a guaranteed refund that is effective for at least a year. To protect yourself from liability, provide a disclaimer that says, "Your use of this site is at your own risk. There is no guarantee you will see improvement with your purchase."

Provide a FAQ section that answers all questions you think visitors will have. If you have at least fifteen to twenty questions to answer, divide your FAQ section into separate pages that contain no more than five questions.

Provide different formats. If you sell books or information products, please provide E-books, paperbacks and CDs. If you sell an E-book, please let customers buy an E-book that does not come as a PDF file or file attachment. I recommend you do not provide an E-book or E-book sample through E-mail because it will often look bad to the recipient.

Set prices with care. Set a price that reflects the value and demand of your item or service while meeting the market rate.

Send every customer a purchase confirmation immediately. Thank the customers and remind them of what they are entitled to. Ask them to buy something else you sell - this method is called "upselling".

Do what it takes to retain customers and get referrals. Always test your product thoroughly before sending it. Try to ship orders within one business day. Ask your customers if they are satisfied and how you can improve.

Use viral marketing. Insert "recommend this site" buttons. It is important to put these buttons on every page because not every visitor will enter your site through the home page, click a link to the site map page or look at every page.

Connect with visitors emotionally. Tell a brief story that explains how it took you a while to gain your expertise before using it to make your product that solves customers' problems. Put this story on your home page to get maximum exposure.

Pay attention to the keywords visitors use to visit your site. If visitors want a class pertaining to your business, provide one by telephone. Charge at least fifty dollars for the class and let visitors get a free class by buying a book or other item you sell at a price that is much lower.

Provide a directory that lists links to good sites pertaining to your business. If you are registered with Send Earnings, provide your affiliate link so you will get paid as visitors register to take surveys through your referral. If you are good at inserting ads or links that require knowledge of programming codes, register with Google Ad Sense to get revenue for running ads on your site.

Improve your search engine optimization. Provide good content pertaining to your business. When setting keywords, only use keywords that are actually on your site. Only use keywords that are in the first paragraph of a particular page. After you make changes to your site, erase the keywords that are no longer used.

Another great way to boost your search engine rankings, traffic and credibility for free is to write informative articles that include a link to your site. Relax. You do not have to already be established to write articles. You just need to write articles that pertain to your expertise or anything else you know something about. When you run out of ideas, browse titles on article sites you use.

Set keywords you have actually used. Write an exciting summary that will entice people to read your article. Do not write self-promotional articles. Do not mention the names of your products or programs.

Include a bio in "third person" form in the author's resource box that discusses your business. Your bio must include your URL and a statement asking the reader to visit your site to improve his or her life.

Use a dictionary when necessary. If your writing skills are weak, read articles pertaining to grammar and punctuation. The articles you write should usually stick to one topic. Write a good introduction and a conclusion that reinforces what the reader should do.

To bring a lot of traffic to your site, send your articles to Ezine Articles, Go Articles, Internet Marketers and Self Growth. To get paid, send your articles to Helium, Associated Content and Triond. Your site should include a link to each article that is posted with a paying site.

Use a special title for your articles page. If you sell financial advice, your title could say, “Get Free Financial Advice!” List your articles in numerical order and provide the title for each article. Highlight the articles pertaining to your business and put all of them at the top of your page. Ask visitors to print the highlighted articles and other articles that interest them.

Let your articles provide a good reference for you. Instead of waiting for reviews from customers to post testimonials, let those who have read the articles pertaining to your business speak on your behalf. Provide a form that lets them get a discount or rebate. Provide a drop-down menu that lets them choose various statements regarding how you have helped them. For example, you could let them click, “Your instruction helped me a lot.” Give them the option to choose whether to let you post their E-mail or telephone number for a reference.

After you write several articles, put together a book and sell it along with other books and CDs you have written at lulu.com, a free self-publishing site. Your description should discuss your expertise and how your item will help the reader. Proofread the files and previews you upload. Provide an accurate table of contents. Provide a killer title that reveals the benefit of the item. If you sell a financial book, your title could say, "Master Your Finances! Become a Millionaire Quickly!"

Bad artwork will kill your chances for a sale. Give your cover a quality emotional image you create through Photoshop or one that Lulu provides. If your book is designed to help people earn more money, use an image showing money or rich people. If any letter of the title is too dark or hard to read, improve it. Do not let any letter of the title run over the edges of the cover or cover's outline. If you cannot create an eye-pleasing title, leave the cover blank. Do not use all caps for the title. Link your site to your Lulu items page.

Put a statement above that link that says, "You will be so thrilled with the artwork and previews that you will not be able to resist ordering an item." Promote items you sell through Lulu for free with Idea Marketers and Self Growth.

Stand out from the competition. Create a unique benefit for your product or service and sell that benefit.

Never give up. We often do not see results for a while; however, you should prevail if you follow these steps and persevere.

I have recently become a member of a rising blog site, even though I never planned on it. I always figured it was just a waste of time and only people with no lives did it. But an online friend actually told me about it, and informed me that I can actually drive traffic to my Triond articles, increasing my overall income. Since joining over a week ago I have become friends with over 40 some, good honest people, like you and me, and have gotten several of them to check out my articles. But just be careful not to get roped into a long conversation and lose track of time, like I did.
