Freewebs: Start a Free Website Online

Freewebs.com is a really good website where you can create your own webpage. The link to your webpage would be www.freewebs.com/yoursite, but you can always get it shortened at www.freedomain.co.nr (which would make your webpage www.yoursite.co.nr).

Now that we’ve covered making your page URL sound professional, we can focus on the actual content.

First of all, there are 2 options- the easy page builder and the HTML mode. I would recommend the easy site builder, especially to beginners, because you can always upgrade to HTML mode later, whereas if you start off with HTML mode, you can’t go back down to the easy page builder. The HTML mode is only for people who know HTML, and who can write a webpage code from scratch. If that’s not you, then go for the page builder. You won’t need any knowledge whatsoever of HTML. This is a lot like a blog template which you can pick out, except it’s not a blog!

Freewebs offers many gadgets for your site, like web polls, web forms, tag/chat boxes, hit counters etc. I personally love the web forms. They’re so professional!

I really hope this guide provided you with enough info to start up a webpage! Good Luck!

How to Make Money on Triond

Getting Started

Well, in order to make money on Triond you need to have a Triond account, if you don't make one at www.triond.com. But to receive money you either need to receive a check or have Paypal. After you have done this you will need to write an article, take a photo or video, or record audio. I suggest you write an article as they are the most view piece of work. For your first article write on a topic that you know a lot about as it will be easier.

Submitting Your Work

Once you have completed your worked log in to Triond and click on the submit tab. Browse your folders on your computer and select your file that you want to publish. Then write a title for you work. Make sure you title is short but draws attention from potential viewers. Now write a brief description of your work. After you have done this select a category that your work fits under. The tags section is for you to write words that relate to you work. Once your wok has been submitted it will take roughly 24hours for it to get published.

The Money Making Part

Congratulations! Now that you work is published you can start to make money. Just to reward yourself click on your item. Now go down to the bottom on the page and click “I Liked It” and give yourself a nice comment. Send the URL to people you know and wait for the views to go up. Try to advertise your work as much as possible. Remember the more views and likes you have the more money you will make.

Tips

Try to follow the writing guidelines as much as possible

Look at other peoples work and leave comments with your URL to your work

Read more guides (The more you know the more money you will make.).

Research topics

Try to include pictures that are relevant to your article

And last but not least: Quality not Quantity

Making Firefox Run Like Never Before

At some point in your internet life, I'm sure you've wondered how to speed up your connection. Myself, I prefer to take the free approach wherever possible, so today I am going to show you how to get your Firefox install trucking along at a much happier pace. Without further delay...

First things first, you should be doing this in another tab, that way you can make your changes and check back here to see what the next change to make is (just in case you didn't know, you can press CTRL+T to open a new tab). So go ahead and open yourself a new tab, and in the address bar (F6) you want to type in

about:config

After continuing past the warning that will more than likely show up, you will be confronted with a staggering amount of information and options. Welcome to the in-browser method of editing Firefox's configuration files. This is a fairly simple procedure so I won't go into too much detail, but if you notice the filter box at the top of the webpage, you will be using that to make to locate the lines you need to change, or maybe enter if they don't already exsist. So for starters, let's make this list a bit more manageable, shall we?

Filter for: pipe

Once you filter for pipe, it should narrow down to just a few options, quite possibly even less then I describe here, but not to worry, Firefox is nice and easy to add new rules to. First things first, look for the following options:

network.http.pipelining------------------------>Set to true

network.http.pipelining.firstrequest------------------------>Set to true

network.http.pipelining.maxrequests ------------------------>Set to 32

network.http.proxy.pipelining------------------------>Set to true

Once you have found the entry I've outlined, doubleclick on it to change it from the default to what I outlined here. If any of them are not present, you just need to right click in the window and go to NEW, then pick the type of entry. A string entry is used when your value is in words or letters, use integer if you are adding a number, and finally use boolean if you have a yes/no option to pass in.

More things to change/add are the following:

nglayout.initialpaint.delay------------------------>Set to 0

ui.submenuDelay------------------------>Set to 0

plugin.expose_full_path------------------------>Set to true

content.notify.backoffcount------------------------>Set to 5

browser.cache.memory.capacity------------------------>*********

(Please note that with this paticular entry, you will have to make a judgement call based on how much memory you have in your computer. If you have around a gigabyte of RAM, I'd recommend setting this to something 49152. If you've got even less, you might want to consider 24576. I'm writing this on a notebook with 2 gigs of RAM, so I use 65536. If you find your computer slow to a crawl after applying these settings, you've set this too high, turn it down to something your computer will more readily accept.)

I think I've given you enough changes to have a fairly noticable change in your browsing speed. To apply these changes, you'll need to quit and restart Firefox. Once you've done that, you'll notice those changes you made kick in instantly. Enjoy your speedy "new" connection!

Newcomer's Guide to Starting Up a Blog

Congratulations on your decision to start a blog. The blogosphere is a community unlike anything you have ever experienced before. It is imperative that you do not simply jump right into blogging. You need to have a well designed plan in order to make your entry into the blogosphere as enjoyable and exciting as possible. In this article you will learn proven steps that will make your transition into blogging as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

Choosing Your Blog Name and Topic

The very first step that needs to be accomplished is for you to decide exactly what it is that you wish to blog about. The topic of discussion on your blog can affect anything from the name of your new blog to whether you wish to place advertisements on your site.

You don't want the name of your blog to be “Billy Bob's Bed And Breakfast” and have all of your posts be about sports. You need to build trust with your potential readership. Heading to “Billy Bob's Bed And Breakfast” blog only to find out that baseball preseason has started will instantly reduce your credibility in the eye or your potential readership.

The subject of your blog can also impact your decision to place advertisements on your site. If your goal is to earn money from your blog, a narrowly focused niche topic is advised. If your goal is to simply get out there and blog, the need for a narrowly focused nich topic is not needed.

Purchasing and Registering Your Domain Name

When choosing your domain name be sure that the word or phrase that you choose reflects the content of your blog and is also related to the title of your blog. You may also consider purchasing any common misspellings of your chosen name. This will allow you to redirect potential readership from the mistyped address to the correct address of your blog. This is done from within your host server if you decide to self host. It is advisable to stick with the more common domains of .com, .net, or .org. Domainsite - NameCheap.com - Godaddy - Network Solutions - RegFly - are jus t some of the sites that offer domain name pruchasing and registering services.

Pay Hosting or Free Hosting

Hosting your blog on a blog hosting site such as Wordpress or Blogspot is an excellent choice for the new blogger on a tight budget. Along with free hosting you get the ease of use of the free hosts built in content manager. There is no need to be familiar with HTML or PHP coding. Most free hosting site also offer various quantities of pre-made blog templates for you to choose from. The domain name for a free hosted blog is usually formated as http://yourblogname.freehostsname.com Keep that in mind.

Pay hosting offers numerous advantages of its own. You can host your own domain (http://www.yourblogname.com). Paid hosting allows you to control every aspect of your site. You decide the design and if needed the advertising content. Increase in versatility is another intrinsic quality of paid hosting. You are able to run various CGI and scripting application. A knowledge of server function, file managers, file editors, HTML and PHP is advised in order to take full advantage of the options paid hosting offers. Some of the better known paid hosting sites are Host Gator , HostMonster , LunarPages , and , WebHostingPad.

Social Networking

The life blood of any blog is traffic. Every day approximatley 150,000 new blogs are created. Having a solid plan in place in order to promote your blog is an absolute neccessity. There are dozens if not hundreds of social network sites available for you to join. These networks are vital in promoting and directing traffic to your blog. Populair is the absolutely best site for finding all the social networks that you need. It also contains a list of the hottest blogs. Bookmark those blogs. Read them. Post comments in them. The more you make your name seen and known the more traffic you will generate for your site.

Odds and Ends

Always ping your blog after each new post that you publish. Pinging your blog alerts search engines and crawlers that your blog has been updated with fresh content. By pinging your blog you improving your chances of having your blog indexed. A simple search for "ping blog" on any search engine will retrieve the most popular sites offering pinging services.

Use a traffic monitor for your blog. Google Analytics is web based free traffic monitor. Monitoring your traffic will allow you to pinpoint the dips and spikes in your traffic. By analyzing those dips and spikes you can ascertain whether a recent post, redesign or anything else has affected your traffic flow.

Create a sitemap. A sitemap is a list of the pages on your website or blog. Creating and submitting a sitemap helps make sure that search engines and indexes crawlers know about all the pages on your site, including URLs that may not be discoverable by normal crawling process.

Set up an RSS feed for your blog. RSS (Rich Site Summary) is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Many news-related sites, blogs and other online publishers syndicate their content as an RSS feed to whoever wants it. Set up an option for readers to subscribe to your blog via email. Offer your readers various means of obtaining your blog's content.

Finally, enjoy the blogging and blogosphere experience!

How to Stop Wasting Time Online

Why are You Wasting Your Time Online?

The first important step is to identify the reasons behind your time-wasting online activities. Is it because you're bored, nothing much to do? Or do you find these activities more fun than the tasks you are supposed to do? Read Why Do People Waste Time Online at Work? to find out other reasons.

Finding out the reason is crucial so that you can correct the root of the problem at hand. Write them down on a piece of paper and devise a possible solution to it. If you have nothing much to do, then I suggest you speak to your supervisor to give you more challenging tasks to do. If you find other activities more fun than your job, it is obvious that you probably need a new job which will get you excited all over again. I'm not asking you to take drastic measures here, but ultimately, it's a choice we make to improve our lives by making full use of the limited time we have in this world.

Identify Time Wasters

The next step is to identify what are the activities you indulge in that is actually wasting a lot of your time. You can refer to this article for a guide on the Top 10 Time-Wasting Online Activities everyone should know!

One key question you should ask yourself would be - will this activity help me to complete my daily tasks at work? If the answer is no, then it is a time-wasting activity you should jot down. If you work from home, then you should ask yourself - will this activity affect my bottom line? If the answer is no, then cut down on those activities as well. Make a list of your very own Top 10 Time Wasters to analyze.

Calculate Time Spent

To make you analysis more effective, you need to find out how much time you are spending on each site. From this alone, you will realize that you are wasting a lot of precious time in a day. How many hours a day? If you are spending 3 hours a day in unproductive activities, that amounts to 15 hours per 5-day-work-week or 60 hours per month. What could you have done in those 60 hours to help you complete your current job? How would you use the 60 hours to increase your bottom line? Jot down your thoughts on how you could better utilize your hours.

30 Minutes a Day

Now that you realize how much time you have wasted, the next step is to cut down on these activities to a specific time period in a day. For instance, you may decide to spend all these unproductive activities to just half an hour a day. You can choose to spend 30 minutes on one website or 10 minutes on 3 websites. But the total amount of time has to be 30 minutes!

It would be good if you could set an alarm to ring when the half hour is over, just to make sure that you keep to your schedule. I have tried this myself. If I don't set an alarm, I usually go over the time limit without realizing. So, setting an alarm is a good thing.

Go Offline Completely

The final step is to go offline whenever possible. If your important tasks at hand does not require the use of the internet, then disconnect your internet so as not to get distracted. Close your browsers and open up only the documents you need to work on.

For me, whenever I need to complete an article, my most productive moments are when the internet is disconnected and I could complete the article within 20-30 minutes, after research has been completed before hand, that is. If I spend 60 hours a month wasting time, I could actually have written more than a hundred articles per month!

Last but not least, you may not know What I Do to Waste Time Online. But I must confess that my writing target I set each month suffered, as a result. After following these steps, I'm more aware of my time-wasting activities online and cut down on them. Eliminating them completely is probably my next step!

Defining Your Search for Better Results

With so many sites out there it's getting more and more difficult to actually get a search to come out with what you actually want. So what can you do to make the specific information that you want? Well make sure you search with all the right words! I know about Google the most so I am going to show you how to define your search so then you can get the right results which you are looking for.

Step 1

Load up Google.

What do you want to search for? For this case I want to search “Growing Vegetables” so instead of just typing it in the bar look to the left and you should see in small writing something that says “Advanced Search”, click on it.

Step 3

So you should see a form, fill in what you want to search in the top bar, now I'm thinking about either growing Tomatoes or Potatoes so in the third row it says any other words so I'm going to put up Tomatoes and Potatoes.

Step 4

So you now have what you want to search, but are there any words which you don't want to be included, if so put them in the box that is in the 4th row down. Select what type of results you want and then press “advanced search” and it should go to a normal search page.

Well I got this:

12 Steps to Growing Your Own Potatoes

You can define your searching for anything and even with what I showed you, you can still define your search even further! For example with tomatoes you could say big tomatoes. It is very simple and useful as you wont have to go searching through pages of information.

The Wonderful World of Free Stuff- Internet Tools

Some people might say “Nothing is Free!” and “There's always hidden costs!” but after you've read the following, you'll realize just how wrong these statements are.

You see, I have put together the BIGGEST, The BEST list of free stuff from free stuff around your home to software and websites.

I've split the list into three sections:

Free Internet tools

Free Software -Coming Soon

Free Every Day Objects -Coming Soon

At the moment there's only one section available online but if enough interest is shown (comments, digs, I like its etc.) then I'll add the other two so keep checking back!

So, in no particular order, the best of the best free stuff.

Free Internet Tools

Grooveshark

Grooveshark is a great music sharing community which is completely legal. The interface is really easy to use and is possibly even better than itunes!

There is two main websites. Grooveshark and Grooveshark Lite. Grooveshark Lite is a smaller version of Grooveshark which you don't have to sign up and can listen to any track for free online.

Grooveshark is the full version which you do have to sign up (for free obviously) for and you can also listen to any track for free. Additionally, you can share music, add friends, download music and lots more. You do have to pay for downloading music but as I'll explain in a second, it's still free. How it works is as follows. You download a small free program called Sharkbyte which searches for music on your own computer. It then adds this to the database and any time someone buys that track you get 50% of the cost. Grooveshark takes the other 50% for themselves and pays the artist or record company some money. The 50% that you get is added to your account and you can use this as credit towards downloading songs. Yes, I know it sounds complicated but all that matters is that get to listen and download the music you want for free without the guilty feeling that you're depriving the artist of some money.

For more info on how it works click here.

Drop.io

Drop.io is a really simple and useful tool for file sharing.
It's just like having a password protected 100mb (or more if you upgrade) memory stick everywhere with you (if you have internet access). All you do is upload your chosen files (any format) onto the site then go onto the other computer, go to www.drop.io/ (your chosen name) and effectively download the file.

You can make as many “drop.io s” as you want so I suppose its more like having unlimited 100mb memory sticks with you! There are other features like transferring files between drop.io's and emailing files to your drop.io.

For more information then click here.

Guerrilla Mail

Ever really wanted to sign up to a website but don't really trust them with your precious email address in fear of spam. Yes, we all have so therefore we all need this great tool!

Basically, you click a button, get a free 15 minute temporary email address which you can receive a confirmation email etc. with and have no worries about spam because it a few minutes the email won't exist!

So go on, sign up to all the untrustworthy sites you want with your trustworthy friend, GuerrillaMail!

Only2Clicks

Find that there's really only a few websites that you go on all the time? Find that you always seem to be wasting time scrolling through your favourites list or typing in addresses when you could be surfing that website?

Only2Clicks to the rescue!

Only2Clicks is another of those simple but incredibly useful websites. It has all your “use all the time” websites on one page, only a click away. It has automatic thumbnails, different skins, different tabs…the lot. That's really all there is to it.

For more information then click here.

Triond

Enjoy writing stories etc, taking pictures, filming videos and maybe making one or two songs just for fun? Well, with Triond you could do all that and get paid for it! Sound good? Read on.

Triond uses a “Pay Per View” system on articles, photos, videos and music that you upload. Basically, they put your content on one of their websites which have adverts and pay you a tiny amount of money for every view. This will add up over time and every month they pay you either via paypal or a check through the post (paypal is faster and more secure so I advise it).

You can upload as much as you like and the more you upload the more you get paid. It may seem a measly amount at first but stick at it and you'll be making worthwhile amounts of money before you know it.

For more information on how it works click here.

You Convert It

With music, image and video files being in all sorts different formats it's hard to find converting software that actually does what it says, doesn't have hidden costs, puts viruses on your computer or every time you use it, it annoys you with pop ups asking you to upgrade.

You Convert It can convert anything. I mean almost literally. It can convert images, video, music weights, lengths time, distance…I could go on forever.

You just type in your e-mail address, select the file you want converted and what you want it to be converted into and they e-mail the converted file to you once it's finished. It's efficient, easy to use and of course…free.

My Game Builder

Everyone has at some point dreamt of making their own game. Doing anything they want; feature themselves in the game; set it in their own house and, and, and…then realize how difficult it is to actually do. Unless you have programming skills and expensive software which most people don't have, then making your own game is well…impossible. That was until my game builder came along.

It allows complete beginners to "build games" as the name suggests. You draw "tiles" of a variety of sizes which will represent objects and characters in the game. You draw the characters and enemies from different angles so when they are walking they look in different directions.

Simple easy to understand tutorials teach you the basics and more features are unlocked as you become more experienced.

There is also a sort of "online community" of game builders in which you can view and play other people's games and top games are picked every week or so which encourages you to be creative.

Experts may be obviously be disappointed but for complete novices, My Game Builder is a simple, easy to use, fairly powerful tool which will kill a few hours and perhaps start off your career as a game programmer!

Buttonator

Buttonator is a great little tool which generates good looking buttons for your website. You just configure the easy to use settings then click the “show code” button to get a code which you can copy and paste onto your website. Alternatively you can download the button and add it to your website that way.

There we go. Finally you've got to the end of "Free Internet Tools" section in the Wonderful World of Free. But it's not over yet! No, no no. This is just the end of the beginning. Two more sections on the drawing board and if there is enough interest they will be released.

Extra- Best Free "I like it button"

Before I go I must remind you that the best free "I like it button" is just centimetres away from your mouse. Simply move your cursor over to it (scroll down and it's at the bottom left of your screen) and click it and guess what! The number goes up! Isn't it amazing!

Thanks for reading and please comment and view my other guides and stuff. If I come across more super free internet tools, I will add them so again, keep checking back.

The Digg Newcomer's Guide: How to Get a Foot in the Door

I am not a top Digger, nor am I considered one of the important pushers on Digg, but after several trials and tests, failures and successes, and my first front page appearance, I've come to realise that a number of factors influence how well the newcomer does on Digg.

Look Out for the Kind of Material that Does Well on Digg

This does not mean that yours will do fantastically well, but you stand a better chance with world news, cutting edge scientific research, and bizarre pictures than poetry or short stories (especially those from blogs). Articles that do well on Digg are those that leave a certain taste in your mouth. They trapeze carelessly on that thin line between confidence and arrogance (so for my constant readers, if you notice a bit of arrogance in this article, you'll understand that it's not the usual climate I bring to my work), are quick and seem to fire the information towards you in an almost now-you-see-me-now-you-don't sort of routine. Keep in mind that while Digg has a variety of users, the majority are young adult males who are interested in girls and gaming.

Do Not Submit Your Own Material

No matter how good you think they are, don't submit things which are clearly yours. Emphasis on "clearly." Why? The simple answer is that they get buried. Wait, and if they are as good as you think they are, they may get picked up by someone with a bit of weight on Digg, alternatively, get friends on other writing forums who are also on Digg, to submit them for you.

Don't Be in Awe of Top Diggers

They are just normal people like you and me. One day, 3 years ago, they stood alone, outside with the chaff and tumbleweed, a place reserved for the poorly newcomer who's waiting for that illusive shot at the front page. If they submit a story that you do not like and it gets around to you, do not Digg it just for the sake of it. Stick to your principles, because wild Digging now will come back to gnaw you in the future. Let yourself be known for Digging articles that mean something to you. This way when you start to get noticed, people will trust the things you submit. They may not agree with them, but they will respect the fact that you do not deal in trash, and would be more likely to give you the vote.

Make Friends

Don't crazily add hundreds of friends whose shouts you never Digg or whose submissions you never look at, because bit by bit people are going to "unfriend" you because of your poor performance, and it would be harder to win them back the second time. Sometimes older Diggers would add newcomers because they feel that they would be more inclined to Digg their material, due to the association of what is perceived to be "the higher power". However, if they take you off their lists, they won't put you back on.

Follow Top Diggers You Like

Do not be a fool and blindly stalk top Diggers. If you really like their material, Digg their submissions, if you've got a genuine comment to make on their material, do so, but do not lap up the scent of their trail just because they are popular.

After a while, if you are genuinely enjoying they things they like, they will notice and add you, not as a pet pup but as an equal in their field of favourites. If you prefer science and technology maheshee11 and supernova17 are great to follow, as they take pleasure in this specialty. If your interests lie in world news and interesting technological advancements adrian67 is a perfect person to Digg. If space news and development are your craving (I adore space pictures) vroom101 knows just where to find them. If you fancy a bit of everything including politics, technology and general articles you should watch msaleem . Then there is suxmonkey who submits general web content with a fierce line of humour and offbeat stuff running right through his content. openthink is liberal with his submission of pictures and has a keen interest in odd things and interesting lists.

Look for Websites that Make the Front Page Frequently

Your poetry may be classy, but it will not do well on Digg. Someone will Digg a hole and bury it in a shallow grave as soon as it appears on the Upcoming page. Go through the items on the front page and look for the source of these materials. Add them to your favourites and select a few stories from these sites when Digging. Keep in mind that while Digg has an algorithm, they are still biased in who they choose (and do not choose). Yours may not do as well as MrBabyman or Zaibatsu, but it will peak enough interest to get you noticed.

Pay Attention When Submitting

No, not to bury other articles like yours. I've never done this, although I know that it is done frequently. Look at how many Diggs other stories like yours are getting and maybe reconsider if you really want to submit that article. If the others like it aren't doing well, what makes yours special? You may even want to change the name, or add a descriptive summary.

When you get going, choose carefully when you submit. Tons of submissions only annoy your friends when they're Digging, if they've got a choice either to Digg your 20 subs or 5 substantial, interesting stories from other submitters, they would be more likely to look at their rare gems and read them, rather than at the abundance of bescumber (if you don't know the meaning of this word, you should really look up it up) you've unleashed on the pages of Digg.

Spend Time on Digg

I couldn't be one of the top Diggers because even though I know all of this now, I do not spend enough time on Digg (which is why I'm handing over this information. What? Did you think I was just being kind?). I am very busy, and I really do not want to spend my computer time (which I use for researching and writing) on Digg. If you're willing to spend more time than I do, wake up early before Adrian and
sungoddess808
(who's already making a super impressive mark, having only joined up this year) and you'll do just fine. In a matter of months you'll be the guy/girl every one wants to befriend.

Digg

I was told by one of the more popular Diggers to go through my list of friends constantly and remove the inactive ones. This makes perfect sense. If you have been inactive for the past 3 weeks, you're only taking up valuable space on people's list of friends, where you certainly have no right to be.

Don't Bombard Friends with Shouts

Not only could you be banned for spamming, you could be totally ignored by all. I had a request of friendship from someone I wasn't sure of (I looked at his profile and noticed that he was submitting a lot more than he was Digging while sending a lot of shouts) I stupidly befriended him anyway and he started to send me 20 (literally) shouts every day, even after I asked him to limit them to one a day (I ask all of my friends to, but don't mind if now and then they send me more). I found myself dreading opening my inbox. When I checked his profile, I discovered that he was sending these shouts to hundreds of other people as well. A few days later, when I tried to send him yet another shout to explain that he was not my only friend, and that I had incoming shouts from different people - Lo and behold his page no longer existed.

Once you learn to use Digg, you will see that if you go to "Friends activities" page and choose the "submissions" options that you would find a list of all the submissions your friends have made that day. There are also the options of seeing what they have dugg and the favourites they have chosen. Once you get going on Digg, you may find that you only need to send a shout or two every other day. It's easier for everyone that way.

Take Time to Personalise

Make it your duty to at least give the impression that you care. Put up a picture on your profile, (it doesn't have to be a mug shot) and say something about yourself no matter how short. It helps people to identify with you and the material you're submitting if they know something about the person. I have a fantastic group of real life friends so I used to scoff at the idea of on-line friends, dismissing the people who had them as sad losers. However, this was before I joined Triond and Digg. I've made contact with some people with whom I feel a real connection. Now, "on-line friends" is not such a strange concept at all.

Keep Submitting

Yup. However, keep your noggin crisply focused on the fact that us Digg users are not heroes, just players in the game, and that the Digg site is not your work place, it's just a ballpark you obsessively visit because a tiny bit of you could be the OCD freak your mother warned you about, who would do anything for a challenge. And remember not to spam Digg with any particular site.

Marketing Using Social Networking Websites

Websites such as MySpace, Facebook, and Bebo host a range of different applications, users and advertisements. These make up all the things needed in a common social networking website. It really depends on your business type for the best place to advertise your product or service.

Firstly you will have your own profile on Myspace (I've chosen Myspace because it has the most users therefore you can reach a wider range of people) there will be content on there, a few blog posts perhaps and a couple of pictures, so when people go to your profile they've got something to look at. Also include links to your website, products and/or services so if someone is interested there and then it is simple to see what they need to do.

You'll also need a layout, nothing too fancy or confusing, maybe use one from the thousands of Myspace layouts website you can find if you do a simple search on Google. Certainly don't leave it on the default version because users will think you are a newbie and won't be interested. Social networking sites are very shallow, it's all about aesthetics.
You now need friends. Start by adding people in your area, they will feel comforted by the fact that you are local and may even take a look at your profile in the adding process. It's a sad fact that in the search for friends people do not worry about who they add. The more friends the better, so most people will no doubt add you without even one look at your profile.

Now the main ways to tell people about your company:

Bulletins

These need to be short, simple and keyword rich. Bear in mind that very few people read these and it's only your friends that can read them therefore you need as many friends as possible.

Birthday Comments

You will get notifications of new friends birthdays. When you get one go and comment on their profile wishing them a happy birthday and maybe even offering them a discount or some other promotion on your product or service.

Picture comments

As I mentioned before these users are generally quite shallow and vain therefore they want to be told how great they look. Tell them and sign your name with your website address.

Sales Promotions

Both on your website and on your profile tell people of special promotions for Myspace friends. It'll get people adding you and will lead to sales.

Blog Posts

Write something interesting doesn't have to be particularly on topic. Then bulletin about it.

Ask for Picture Comments

The general post goes "PC4PC" which means picture comment for picture comment. This means that if people comment on your pictures you'll comment on theirs, this works because to get to your pictures people will have to go through your profile.

Make Friends

Don't be a faceless business. Introduce yourself to prospective clients and create a rapport, just like you would in the real world.

Try Not to Use the Same Messages

When you message people or comment, use their names and don't use the same generic messages for every post, people will see through this and ignore it.

Explore the site that you are on, create a personal profile to get to know it but don't forget that you will have to spend a good few hours a day on these websites making yourself known, posting bulletins, making friends and replying to messages. Hard work but well worth it in the end.
