Free T.V. and Movies

Not everyone has time to watch their favorite shows when they air, so you either have to wait until the show come out on DVD or until it airs again. Also not everyone has the time to either go see a new movie or your cheap like I am and don't like to rent movies either. So here are some good websites to watch all you favorite shows for free streaming.

Megastic.com

These sites are pretty good for watching T.V. shows. They have some old shows but is mostly newer shows. To watch these videos you will need up to date flash video. Usually with shows that just aired it takes a few hours for them to upload the video.

This site falls into the same category as Videostic.com, but has all the lasted added contents on the home page. It is run through Zango, which is a pain in the ass, but all you have to do is click cancel when the Zango page appears. This site as a few different formats for each video.

Sidereel

This is one of my favorites because it provides multiple copies of every video. So you are able to choose from the video format you like. Also it has just about everything you could imagine, from movies to documentaries. Because this site has so many different formatted videos, you need to make sure you have the right software to run the videos.

OVGuide

And last but not least, actually quite opposite. OVGuide.com is a search engine that has many different free video sited it searches to find the video you want. This site has 2528 different sites it searches through and usually puts the best sites at the top of the list. The site is set up very well and is very user friendly; it has a search bar where you can search just about anything and is probably the best site to use to find any video you could want.

So now with all of these sites you shouldn't ever be out of the loop when it comes to new T.V. shows or new movies and you can watch them whenever you want.

Affiliate Marketer or Product Consultant? You Decide

Welcome to the world of affiliates. As of right now there are more than 500,000 programs out there offering anything from services, products and get rich schemes. Some of these programs are giving away affiliate sites for large fees, small fees or for nothing at all! Once you join one or more of these programs you are now required to market your new found site. Whether it is a site for a service or product one question remains, are you now an affiliate marketer or a product consultant?

With that said, let's look at it through the eyes of the consumers, the group of people that you are trying to convince that your product or service is the best one out there. Now you are the consumer and you are on the hunt for a great car. As you step foot out onto the car lot and finally find the one you think you want, here comes the car salesman. As you begin to ask questions about the new car, the salesman begins to shut off about all the great promotions and services that come with this great product! Affiliate marketer or a product consultant?

Now, let us look through the eyes of the car salesman. His job is to convince you that you want this brand new car. The salesman realizes that not only is he an affiliate of the company, but he must also get the products out of there. Can you see where this is going? The company that hired the salesman made him an affiliate, now it his job to market this great company with all the services and promotions that are being offered. On the other hand the same company that hired the salesman also gave him the job to sale their products, the brand new cars. This now makes him a product consultant.

Can you now see how this one simple question, Affiliate marketer or product consultant, can go hand in hand. Anyway you look at it, when you join one of these programs regardless of its services or products, you become an affiliate and must market you new site. As well as, a product consultant, now it is your job to inform your potential costumers about your product or services. So you tell me, affiliate marketer or product consultant, you decide.

Learning is Free, Discover Podcasts

I used to be an avid talk radio listener. No matter the politics or the topic, I tuned in to AM radio because, at the end of each day, I felt like I had learned something. Sometimes I had learned about the topics discussed, sometimes I learned about myself and where I stand.
The problem with talk radio was that I was bound in a variety of ways to the content. I was bound by the topic, by the host and by the scheduling. If I was depressed, sometimes listening only made my mood worse. If I was in the mood to hear some serious news, the host would be talking about his anger at the size of Halloween candy bars.

One weekend I took a trip to Best Buy and spent some gift money on an iPod Touch. I had no idea that my life was about to change - and I am only slightly exaggerating.
After loading up my favorite tunes, I discovered that I still had over 10 gigabytes of space available. I had heard about podcasts and was somewhat interested. I searched through some of the more popular offerings in the iTunes podcast section and downloaded a few.
A podcast, for those who don't know, is essentially a talk radio show - some of the newer shows are also done as videos. These are not necessarily well produced radio-style programs. A podcast can be produced with a simple microphone and free computer audio recording software. Since new episodes are added often, you can use your computer or media player software to subscribe and automatically download new episodes of each podcast as they are made available.

Imagine any expert on any topic being able to create a talk radio program specifically about their interest and knowledge. This is only the beginning. Authors have podcasts, doctors have podcasts, even churches have podcasts. Not all podcasts are limited to talk-show format. Some podcasts are comparable to audio books or old serial radio shows.
Podcasts range from graduate course material to the obscene and everything in between. The best part is that nearly all podcasts are completely free.
Perhaps the reason that podcasts haven't been discovered by the world at large is due to several misconceptions.

Podcast enjoyment does not require an iPod.

You can listen to podcasts via the host's website. Just click the play button. You can also download the audio files and put them on any digital media player or CD.

Podcast enjoyment is difficult.

If you want to make subscribing to podcasts extremely easy, buy a portable media player that advertises the podcast support on the packaging. Microsoft Zune and iPod both support one-click subscription to podcasts, but there are others. Software is also software that makes subscribing to podcasts easier.

Podcast enjoyment is for geeks.

There are hundreds of thousands of podcasts being produced in all languages and topics. There are knitting podcasts, equestrian podcasts, business management podcasts, religious podcasts, etc., etc., etc.

The best part of podcast enjoyment is that it is a totally personal experience. As you drive around town, exercise or just listen as your work, you can ditch the usual radio or music experience and listen to something new every day. The content is not only new, but guaranteed to meet your individual interest.

If you are looking to get started enjoying podcasts, give Juice a try. It is a free program that allows you to subscribe to, and download, podcasts. PodcastDirectory.com is the most logical place to find a podcast you are interested in.

Forum Faux Pas

Alright, I've seen plenty of poorly produced forums to know the general idea of which faux pas are becoming the biggest problems. This thread will, hopefully, direct a few of those forum "owners" (and I use the term loosely, as just about anyone can "own" a forum these days, but not everyone is cut-out to be a full-fledged "owner" or "operator") who have fallen into a few of the following categories into a more promising direction. By pointing out these mistakes in an open manner like this, my hope is that fewer people will fall victim to these forum faux pas. That being said, let's get this started (NOTE: This thread will be updated as new faux pas are discovered/abused, so feel free to check back often).

What Is A Faux Pas?:

Now that this list has gained a bit of credibility, if that's what we want to call it, the biggest question I'm hearing now is just what in the hell is a Faux Pas? Well, let me put it simply -- A Faux Pas (F-oh P-ah) is something typically viewed as unacceptable by social standards. I use that term in regards to forums because, as we've moved into a new era of Internet participation, people expect a great deal from forums when they come by for a visit, and we've advanced to the point where Faux Pas both exist, and can adversely affect your chances for success. With that in mind, this list was created with the best of intentions, to see that you have the chance to succeed and do not fall into these Faux Pas categories. Don't think that just because I reference this topic when posting in your advertisement that I am trying to criticize you for falling into a Faux Pas category -- I'm simply trying to point out ways to help you improve your current product and make it more appealing. Don't take it personally

Why Should I Listen To You? What Are Your Credentials?

I've had a few people ask me now what makes me think I should be the one to write a list of Faux Pas and "shoving it in peoples faces?" So, I thought I'd list my credentials here, even in a very brief format. To start with, I don't aim to be a pretentious critic that is simply out to shovel my ideals of what makes a forum worthwhile at other people. I'm not an arrogant person by nature, and anyone that's taken any time to get to know me could tell you likewise. I enjoy talking about forums and that naturally lead to the Faux Pas list, which was subsequently posted here in an effort to benefit the members of *Site* that choose to make a forum. Now, I realise that doesn't answer the question as to why I feel that my Faux Pas list in particular should be taken with anything more than a grain of salt; however, to outline the reasoning behind that will sound somewhat arrogant and I felt it best to outline the particular fact that I try not to be arrogant in posting such things.

I would start by mentioning that I have been around forums and working with them since 1997 when I first discovered two pieces of software in particular -- WWThreads and Ultimate Bulletin Boards (owned by, at that time, Madrona Park). I was intrigued by the possibilities of such software, and took a keen interest in both products. Over time, that interest grew and I came to experience just about every piece of forum software out there (freeware and otherwise). Whenever a new group started up with a new script (and there have been almost as many groups as there are users), I would take the time out to sit down and play about with it. Even today I like to sit down and take a good hard look at any new forum scripts that come along and see what they're offering in comparison to the others. Today in particular is an exciting time to look at each forum, as numerous new coding methods and languages are being adapted into products we already know and enjoy today. So, as I'm sure most of you have heard me say by now, I have indeed been involved in the forum world for over a decade and I don't say the things I say just to be a pretentious critic. I say them because I've had the time and done the research required to know what I'm talking about. My sole aim is to help people improve their forums, and that is ultimately what I am aiming for when I offer "constructive criticism" on any particular forum.

Colour Scheme and Overall Presentation

This is a different age on the internet than it was a couple of years back. In a time in which there are hundreds, even thousands of forums for each niche to find a home in, colour schemes are taking on a more prominent role as a deciding factor in whether or not guests stay to post, or go elsewhere. The biggest problems we see with today's colour schemes include: sticking with the default scheme or throwing together a disgusting/blinding scheme that should never have seen the face of the internet.

We'll start with the default. While using the default skin isn't all that bad, it does detract from the originality of your forums. It shows that you put next-to-no effort into your forums layout, and could infer that you don't care about brining in new posters. Invision Board, phpBB, vBulletin, they all give you a fantastic default layout, but take it one step further and customize it! The default style has been used so much by so many sites that it's cliche these days. A simple colour change is not that hard to achieve, and can improve the look of your forums ten-fold.

That being said, we'll move on to the next problem with Faux Pas Number 1; the completely unattractive and blinding colour schemes. While turquoise/cyan might be a nice colour for word documents (and even that's a stretch), it does NOT work for a forum colour scheme. The same is true of lime green, blindingly bright pink, and other such colours. If you're looking for a light colour scheme, start with white and work your way towards the various shades of the colour you want to achieve. Learning Hex code values is a great way to achieve a good colour scheme, and it's fairly straight-forward. Once you know your Hex codes, it's time to learn what colours mesh well together, and what colours are absolutely blinding to the eyes (the colours mentioned early, for example). The best way to do this is to mix & match, then ask someone whether or not it looks ok. Take hints from other websites if need be (DO NOT COPY!), but use caution, as you never know what's going to work for you. Just please, please, avoid the cyan, lime green, and pink designs.

Number of Posts:Forums ratio

Forum Faux Pas Number Two is fairly straight-forward, yet it's something that's been seen a lot in newer forums. When you're starting out with a new forum, there is absolutely NO reason to create hundreds upon hundreds of forums if you don't have the members to fill them. What you do is start small, and expand as you gain the activity. Let's use the biggest niche we see here in the GW advertising forum and go with gaming as an example. When you're starting out your forums, there is NO need to create game-specific forums until the need for them arrises. Instead, create console forums and let the conversation stay there. Once a certain game starts to overrun the forum, create a forum for it, and so-on. It's a fairly simple concept that doesn't need to be abused.

Another part to this Faux Pas include the use of similar forums where they aren't needed. For instance, having a "Lounge/Chat" forum, and a "Random/Spam" forum. They're one in the same, and they don't need to be there when you're starting out. It looks tacky to have forums like that, and spreading posts over too many forums gives off the appearance of inactivity, regardless of how active your forums may be. Keep it to a reasonable level, and you'll be fine.

Forum Rules

Ah, the ruleset. Big problems have been coming from newer forums when it comes to the creation of a ruleset. The thing I'm seeing the most are GW Copies. *Site*' ruleset is *Site*' ruleset, it is not yours to take, and it should not appear on forums outside of *Site*. I've noticed flat-out copy/pastes of the ruleset, copy/change a few words/pastes of the ruleset, and paraphrasing using similar verbage of the ruleset. Let me lay this out clearly for your new forum owners out there: You do not want a GW-like ruleset on a small board. It will not work! *Site* has a relatively strict ruleset because it is a large board with lots of members. More defined rules are always needed as newer members tend to need harsher punishments to understand that rules are there to keep a general pace within the forums, and to keep idiotic/useless/disruptive content out of the forums.

Why won't this work on a smaller board, you ask? Simple: because it is a small board, and small boards don't have the member resources to pull from that *Site* does. If we loose a member that breaks rules here at *Site*, there will still be thousands of users that could fill any gap that the user might have filled with positive contributions. If you loose a member that breaks strict rules on a small board, you've lost that member for good, and holes start to form. Until you've reached a point in which rule-breaking causes a disruption of your forum, then you add more defined rules, but when you're starting out, keep the rules laxed, and you won't have the problem of gaps forming from positive contributors that broke (potentially) borderline rules. That doesn't mean you can't ban blatant spammers or problematic users, it just means you won't have to enforce those rules on the positive contributors to your forums.

"The Promise"

Ever read this on a forum before: "We're going to upgrade to X product here soon!" or "We're going to be MUCH better than *Site* because BLAH BLAH BLAH!"? Well, that's what I like to call "The Promise," or making promises that you more than likely can't keep. A lot of people make the claim that they'll upgrade their forums to vBulletin or Invision Power Board "soon," and use that as a selling point. Few people deliver on that promise, as those that make the claims seem to be oblivious to the fact that both of those products cost a significant amount of money, and that pirated versions of those products are illegal. Perhaps most importantly here is that it shouldn't be used as a selling point, as there are hundreds of alternative forums out there, in the same genre, that already have vBulletin or Invision Power Board installed and ready to go (InvisionFree doesn't count, as they use the older, free version of IPB, that is today outdated). It's not a selling point, as the prestige isn't there until the software is installed. Don't make the claim until you know you can deliver. Also: DO NOT USE PIRATED VERSIONS. If that's how you plan to fulfill a claim of using a paid-for product, you will be caught, and it is illegal. Don't do it. Simple as that.

Now the other part of "the promise:" the claim that a certain forum is better than *Site* because of *insert numerous reasons here*. This is not a selling point, either, as *Site* is a well-established website, with a very deep community that is next-to-impossible to match without the proper resources and money. No, an exact duplicate of *Site*' forum layout isn't going to work and No, claiming your forums are better because of a less-strict ruleset isn't going to get you anywhere, either. As I mentioned earlier, *Site* has a more defined ruleset because there is a more established community that requires a more defined ruleset. Sure, it can seem harsh at times when someone is penalized for something that others see as "harmless," but that's the way it has to be to keep a large community going. Forums that start up claiming to be better than *Site* because they use either a pirated copy of vBulletin or a free board and then stick in a "less-strict ruleset [usually consisting of "OMG respect me now!!1!!!"]" is NOT going to cut it, as they're merely carbon copies of *Site* started up by people that haven't got a clue what running a forum the likes of *Site* entails. Dont' fall for the claim, and don't use the claim as a selling point. It won't work.

Staff Members

As you may or may not have noticed, *Site* has a total staff count well over the 100 mark. That's a lot of people to watch over the forums, isn't it? Well, it sure is, but that's because the actual ratio of members:mods is probably well over 50:1. Now, when someone starts up a forum and invites friends to post there, the first instinct these days is to make friends moderators/super moderators/administrators. DO NOT DO THAT! You'll wind up with more Mods/Smods/Admins than members, and that never works out well for the overall flow of a forum. It'll eventually reach the point in which there won't be anything but staff members, and no normal members to enforce rules upon. Guests aren't looking for quantity of staff members as a selling point, they're looking for a balanced system wherein members are equal or greater than staff members. As with the posts:forums ratio, keep it reasonable and you'll be fine.

Staff Member Etiquette

While staff members are a needed part of the forum hierarchy, it is adviseable to NOT choose the route of nepotism, and instead choose the route of ability. Do not make your friends moderators or administrators simply because they are your friends. Choose people you can trust, and that will do the job properly. Staff members are expected to maintain a higher standard of posting and behavior than regular members, and as such, it is proper to require certain personality aspects that can command a users' attention. This applies also to yourself as an administrator. If you plan to take your forums seriously, you must also keep yourself at a higher standard of behavior than the members you serve (and that is important to keep in mind also, you serve the members, they do not serve you). In so saying, do not do anything that would give off the appearance of being too immature for the position. This includes boosting your postcount to reflect an inaccurate number of posts (especially a number higher than the actual postcount of the forum), and imposing rules that are outlandish, or entirely irrelevant for a startup board. Keep it simple, but at the same time "professional," and you'll be fine.

Staff Forums: Hide The m

Another issue related to staff members is that of the Staff forums. When creating staff forums, always keep in mind that timeless phrase "Out of sight, out of mind." As is the case here -- keep any and all staff forums hidden from view, as it is generally unacceptable to see them flaunted about in front of members. Yes, permissions allow you to privatize forums whilst still showing them on the forum list; however, this is not an acceptable procedure, and they should be hidden so that members cannot see that they are there. Thus, they are out of mind.

Content

This stems back to "The Promise." Don't create GW copies and think you'll be successful. *Site* has been successful because Al got started early in the game and worked his way up towards being one of the best. There's no need to copy *Site*, as we're still right here! If you don't like the ruleset, that's fine, but making a copy of the forums isn't going to get you anywhere. *Site* has survived literally thousands of "we're better than GW" clones, and is still going strong. What makes you think your copy will be better? To be successful in this day and age of internet forums, you need to have original content, or find a niche with a relatively small outlet of meeting places. Gaming's overdone now, so the chances that you'll create a successful gaming forum in today's internet are slim to none. So please, use original content, don't try and copy *Site*, and don't make outlandish claims.

Guests and Logging In: Total blocking is a no-no!

Another trend on the rise lately is blocking guests from viewing a board until they've registered. Not only is this the easiest way to discourage guests from ever returning to your forums, it's also downright stupid if you're just starting out. You see, a guest wants to decide for his/herself whether or not s/he wants to join your forums based on what they see right off the bat. If all they get is a "registered members only" sign, they won't want to return at all. If a guest has access to view the boards (with or without guest posting enabled), they then have the ability to scout the boards out and decide if this is a place they really want to be. If they do, they'll register; if they don't, they won't. Blocking is a surefire way to get rid of guests for good, but do you really want to risk loosing so many potential members?

What Hosting/Forum Solutions Are For Me?

This is a fantastic question that deserves an in-depth answer. Simply put, however, it depends on how serious you want to take your forums, and how much money you're willing to spend to get your forums where you want to go. Sounds simple enough, doesn't it? Well, it truly is that simple, if you have the drive to make your forum one of the best, then you've got to have the patience and the resources to back up that drive. In today's bulletin board world, it's not always easy or cheap to create and operate a successful board, so your drive is what's going to be the determining factor.

How Far Do You Want To Take It? A Guide to Proper Solutions for Your Forum

Free Hosting/Free Forums (Remotely Hosted Forums, for those who just want a start)

If you're either looking to just get your feet wet in the forum world, or you're looking to go the free hosting/free forum route (typically less successful than the paid route), you're going to want to go with a remotely hosted solution. Remotely hosted solutions are sites that provide you with pre-installed copies of bulletin boards that you can monitor with relative ease. If this sounds like your thing, a few sites that could be mentioned include:

InvisionFree (Switching to ZetaBoards)
ProBoards
Runboard
ezBoard (Moving to Yuku)
Forumer

Paid Hosting/Free Forums (For those with a bit more drive)

If you're willing to put a little time and effort into your forums, but don't want to spend too much money, you'll want to go with the paid hosting/free forums route. This means that you get a proper webhost (free hosts are severely limited, so you're better going with a paid host), and installing free forum software (not typically as good or unrestricted as paid software), which could include:

phpBB
QuickSilver Forums
PunBB (Now Forked into FluxBB)
OpenBB
MyBB
FUD Forums

Paid Hosting/Paid Forums (For those who really want to take their forums seriously)

If you've really got the drive to take your forums the distance, you're going to want to snag yourself a whopper of a host, and a great forum script. The best forum scripts usually cost a pretty penny (regardless of what others say, when it comes to forum development, you get what you pay for), however, in the long run, the startup costs are usually a small price to pay with the proper drive. The best examples of paid forum software are:

vBulletin
Invision Power Board
IdealBB

10 Free&easy Ways to Beat Boredom Using Your PC

So first off a bit of background to this content. Last night, 12/08/08, I was bored beyond belief. So then I wondered how can I beat boredom?

Needless to say because of the title of my article I did indeed beat my boredom but then once again it struck me down today, hence this article and my first point!

No summer job for me so, on the internet searching it for techniques on how to make money online. Found a few sites that were pretty good where you get paid per click and so on but there were also some scam sites! (E.G. AWsurveys.com) Anyways that was all good early on in the summer but last night by accident I clicked www.triond.com on my bookmarks instead of going to another site! “What's this?” I asked to myself and when I got there I remembered. Straight away on to my old content, there it was, only one article but making me money while I did nothing! So first tip for beating boredom? Make money!

This one is actually quite fun. I use my imagination to come up with something like an event I have to organise or a party I have to go to, then I set myself a budget, say £100 or £3000, whatever! Then I go on something like ebay and I try to make an outfit for the party using my budget. It's also fun doing it with friends like who can find the weirdest thing for sale online! Once I found gorilla boogers and human toenails! Or you can just imagine you won the lottery and look at things you'll never get….. :'-(

This one is a no-brainer! Go find games to play online! There is the obvious such as MiniClipbut then there is the real jewels of the gaming world where you have to find the games yourself on random sites! I won't spoil the fun by naming them!

Build a website! I use FreeWebs but there are many others you can use! You can make it about anything you want like dedicate it to a sports team or movie. Maybe a place to chat to your friends? YOUR website, NO limits!

Share your knowledge! Go to www.yahoo.com/answers and answer questions that people have asked with your own knowledge or ask your own question you just can't answer!

Ok so once again this one is one of them “DUH!” ones but still, it beats boredom and that is watching movies online, funny clips and listening to music. Told you…DUH!

Join a chat room or a blog! Don't listen to all these people telling you to not go on chat rooms, most of them are family friendly and full of nice people!

Visit bored.com Trust me! You will not be bored after going there!

Learn some simple magic tricks, riddles or jokes and then tell your family and friends. The looks on their faces will make you feel better and learning them will occupy you for a while!

Last but not least! Don't get bored! If all these suggestions don't work then get outside my friend, your skin needs to see sunlight and your underwear needs a change!

Stop Big Brother From Snooping on You Using These Most Useful Internet Tools

We wish there were a way to put a stop to all 100% of the snooping that goes on in our personal lives, but since there isn't any silver bullet to solve this growing problem, we shouldn't just surrender and give up altogether. There are several things that we can do to make it much harder for Internet scammers, spammers and government snoops from collecting any more personal information about us than they need to.

Before we move on and discuss the featured Internet tools to stop big brother from snooping on you, let's first discuss a few things not to do, so to prevent anyone from collecting personal information about you. In the right hands, your personal information is as valuable as gold that can be bought and sold over and over again, but in the wrong hands your personal information can be used to assume your identity and trash your upstanding reputation.

On the Internet, there are hundreds of survey companies that offer to pay you or give you products, just for filling out their surveys. Don't do it, before carefully considering the tradeoff.

You will be asked to give your name, address, phone number, age, income, and much more before you even begin filling out the survey and this information is usually shared, traded or sold to marketing and advertising agencies or private individuals willing to pay for the information about you. This can and usually does lead to unwanted spam, potential scams and even late-evening dinnertime telemarketing sales calls to your home or cell phone. Plus, Big Brother (government agencies) can potentially demand information brokers to release any personal information about you with or without cause and without you knowing about it.

Here is your chance to start taking steps to stop the snoops wanting to spy on you. These useful Internet tools will not provide absolute protection from all snoops, but it will surely make their jobs much more difficult - the way that it sure be.

Hoax Busters

The Internet is chalk full of email hoaxes and Internet scams that are designed to steal your personal information, so to be used to make the scammers lots of money at your expense. Use this website to keep informed of the latest Internet hoaxes and scams, so that you can avoid becoming the next victim of identity theft.

Email Encryption

Each time any of us write and send an email over the Internet there is a real chance that someone other than the person that we intended to receive it has read our private communication. The standard email programs that most Internet Providers offer their users are not as fully protected from prying eyes as they could be. This website provides an excellent blog that teaches you how-to encrypt your email, so that most snoops are unable to read your private communications without your permission.

MintEmail

Never share your personal email address with anyone that you do not know or with any website that does not have a comprehensive privacy policy. It's just not worth sharing your personal email address, so that you can signup for a newsletter, social network or join some other Internet club. Use MintEmail to get a four-hour temporary email address and some other really cool features that you can use to join, use or receive information from the Internet. This type of email address is utterly worthless to information brokers and identity thieves.

Numbr.com

Sometimes we discover something that we really want to participate in on the Internet, but in order to signup, we are required to give our phone number. Unlike an email address, our phone number can be used to deliver telemarketing phone calls all times of the day or night, and even the worse part is that it can be used to identify where you live by using certain Internet tools. Numbr.com offers free disposable phone numbers that can be setup to expire whenever you need them to, but still receive real phone calls from those people that you are expecting to call and not expose your personal information over-the-Internet.

National Do Not Call Registry

Send a message to all telemarketers in the United States of America that you do not want to receive their telemarketing phone calls by having your phone number added to the National Do Not Call Registry.

Stop Cell Phone Spam

Put a stop to cell phone spam and unwanted cell phone text messages sent by marketing and advertising agencies wanting you to buy their products and services. This is an excellent blog from the Michigan Attorney General that explains in some detail how to go about eliminating the cell phone spam and take your privacy back.

Green Dimes

One of the easiest ways that identity thieves can use to collect personal information about their next potential victim is by stealing mail from the mailbox. We receive credit card offers, insurance discount offers and many other unwanted special offers through the mail and in the wrong hands this junk mail can be the beginning of one heck of a good time at your expense. Use GreenDimes to put a stop to junk mail by doing it yourself or by signing up for the premium service ($20.00) and have an experienced GreenDimes representative take care of the problem for you, if you do not have the time to do it yourself.

Catalog Choice

Help save the natural resources and the environment by simply putting a stop to unwanted paper catalogs that you no longer want to receive in your mailbox. Millions of trees can be saved and your privacy can be yours once again.

Avast!

Stop potential viruses and worms from activating and opening backdoors for hackers to snoop around and potentially steal your private personal information that you have stored away on your computer's harddrive. Avast! Is one of the best and easiest antivirus programs available on the Internet and it's 100% free for home users to use.

ZoneAlarm

The Internet would be much more secure if everyone using it would install a reliable firewall on his or her computer. Many times viruses and worms are spread from an effected computer to other computers that it comes in contact with and hackers can more easily gain access to an unprotected computer than they could if trying to access a computer with a firewall. Protect yourself and others that you come in contact with on the Worldwide Web by downloading and installing a firewall that will better protect your private information that you have stored on your computer and possibly prevent damaging viruses and worms from being planted on your computer's hard drive by a sneaky hacker.

Driving Your Blog's Traffic Through the Roof 4: Advertising

A great way to get traffic coming into your blog is by linking to other blogs in hopes that they will link to yours. Find other bloggers who have similar content or themes and contact them directly, ask them if they mind you linking to their blog. Put a link up on your main page and name drop their blog and articles in some of your own writing. What this will hopefully do is encourage them to return the favor, and do the same for you. This generates "new traffic." Viewers that enjoy similar blogs may become attached to yours, and tell their friends.

Start visiting blogs who write over similar topics. Read the articles, comment on them. Offer intelligent feedback, not just "good work" but detailed criticisms. Tell them why it was good, or what could have been improved upon. Make sure and leave a link to your blog at the end of every post, don't push them to view it, because if they enjoyed your post, they will check out your blog.

Writing a weekly newsletter to your subscribers will encourage them to visit often and tell friends. In the newsletter, don't include full articles, but samples that will beckon your audience to want more, thus going to your blog. I would advise Zookoda, they offer a hosting service for newsletters, best of all, its free! Zookoda allows people to subscribe to your newsletter and you get detailed information about click counts and subscriber demographics.

Cross promote other blogs. Talk about blogs you enjoy reading. Have those bloggers write an article for your blog, then write an article for theirs. This will keep fresh viewers coming in and plugging your blog.

Submit your blog to search engines. Also keep linking to your blog every time you post, on myspace, facebook, other blogs and on social bookmarking sites. Search engines work in a way that not only do they find relevance to keywords from the actual search, but also the number of pages linking to the blog. So the more your link to it, the higher up on the list it will appear. Don't annoy people though, because if you put your link up everywhere, some search engines might see this as spam and ignore your site!

Use Facebook, MySpace, Furl, Twitter, and Flickr to your advantage. Link into your blog from these social sites. Tell people when you have a new post. Keep the traffic visiting each one and they will frequent your blog. Email your friends and family, have them email some people.

Most importantly, keep your advertisements tasteful. Don't put flashing banners up all over your page. Let your viewers know what is a paid advertisement and what isn't, this will show them that you care about them reading your article and not just clicking your links.

Summary
