Fortunately it is possible to make money on the Internet, and it is also possible to get rich; you just need to realize it will take a long time to happen and it will take a lot of effort to get it there. In order to start down a path towards financial freedom, start looking for systems that make you money without you having to put further effort into them (beyond effort of their first creation). Royalties are a good example of this. A writer pens a novel, sells it to a publisher, then continues to receive royalties from sales of the work for as long as the work is available. Be prepared to make very little. If the kind of residual income mentioned in this article was easy to come by, then lets face it, no one would be working. A simplified rule is; the more content you have, then the more income you can get out of it all. Through dedication and hard work having content will pay off in the long term, but first aim for realistic targets.

1. Your first target is to make two dollars per day. “Two dollars per day!!” you surely exclaim. Yes – don't give up your day job quite yet – but aim for that. Once you reach it consider yourself fortunate because half the world's population – 3 billion people – live on less than two dollars per day. If you're making that from residual income then you're doing well. If you're able to set up a system that makes two dollars a day then there's no reason why you can't reach ten dollars a day, or twenty dollars a day (and so on). 2. Second target: pick a bill (rent, electricity, phone) and aim to get your residual income to the stage where it covers your bill. Once that's covered, move onto the next bill. Repeat until all your bills are covered.
3. Third target: savings. Start saving some of your residual income, so that interest can add value to it. The savings will also play an important role later in smoothing out the ups and downs of the residual income.
4. Fourth target: diversify. Once you have a residual income, the last stage is to diversify. Only by having a number of separate sources do you ensure against disaster. Any one source of income could dry up at any time. Diversification is key. Once you reach this stage, then you should also have plenty spare money to reinvest back into making more money.

In my opinion, Triond.com is one of the best websites of this kind. You as a user can upload almost everything and make money when somebody views it. You have to set what are you uploading (photo, article, video …), category of your content (based on subject of your work), provide short information about it and key words so your work could be found by search engines. It is important that you upload your work to Triond before you upload it anywhere else, because they won't approve it. That's because Triond checks originality of your content you are uploading. This means that if they find it anywhere else on the internet they won't approve it.

Your payment is based on number of views on your works. Some categories have better payments than others. They send payments every month, if you have earned enough money. Minimal payment for paypal is $0.50.

Another interesting website is helium.com. Unlike Triond, they accept only articles. They are also a bit more demanding on your articles. There is some minimal amount of words your article should have. However, they don't check if your work is already uploaded somewhere else. Payments seem lower than on helium than on Triond to me. Maybe it's only because nobody reads my articles, but who knows? I can't find any information on helium about the number of views my articles have.

Very interesting thing is marketplace, where you can write articles on demand and hope that your will be the one chosen and purchased.

Helium will pay you only by paypal. Minimal payout is $25.

A bit different website is howtodothings.com. They take only how to articles. They also view your own Google ads, so you make money only if somebody clicks on your ads. Howtodothings then takes a share of your earnings. They are very demanding on quality of articles you want to publish o their website.

Of course these three websites aren't the only ones of their kind. If you start looking, you will certainly find many more websites that will pay you money for your works.

As information becoming more in demand, it's worth money in terms of affiliation marketing. Blogs with information are starting to behave like a "shop" earning money when people goes into this virtual "shop". As more and more people started to realize that earning by just blogging is possible, more opportunities were created and this industry has been expanding tremendously.

You must find out what you love. I can't emphasize this enough. For example, I don't like writing very much. But I surely love writing attention-grabbing headlines and bullet points. That's the thing I want to do. So I implement that in my writing and it became interesting! You see, it's a subtle way to discover the things you like and it takes time.

Ups, I forgot the most important thing

But, Dave, how to find out what I like? My friend, it's all about action. No self-help author or astrologer is going to tell you what you're good at. You need to discover that by yourself. This is not hard at all. Just do one new thing every day.

If you test stuff, you can get 1000 times more results than if you didn't. Except that you see what works and what doesn't, you can easily distinguish which guru is fake and which one is worthyour time. In my opinion, false gurus are often believed to be real gurus because there are not enough individuals out there who are willing to test what they taught. They simply accept it, or don't take any action on it to begin with.

Don't be afraid to discover your own stuff

After having been exposed to so many “gurus” that have indirectly said to me, “You should listen to me.”, I began to lose the confidence to test things myself and see what works and what doesn't. It took me a long time to regain my confidence and start testing on my own. Then my real successes came. Don't let this happen to you.

Real gurus have free things to offer

I have compiled a list of free resources where gurus post here. Many gurus have valuable "free stuff" to offer. See what they are offering. Is their content worthwhile? To me, this is one of the best tools to recognize good gurus and weed off the fakes. Fake gurus usually don't offer free stuff, they are only good in offering hype and false promises.

If you find a guru that's providing good content, stick with him! If he's providing good stuff, there is a huge chance that he's going to provide you with even more good stuff in the future!
