Is Hulu a You Tube Killer?

If you haven't heard, NBC, FOX, and all the other big name channels are pulling their shows from
YouTube, a website that contains little clips of things, and user submitted content. The new website that is going to contain all of the NBC, etc. shows is a website called Hulu. Hulu is currently in BETA, and very few people can get in. I have gotten in, possibly because I own my own blog/website. Overall, I think that Hulu is just absolutely amazing!

Heroes, Chuck, Bionic Woman, the Simpson's. We all love these shows. But occasionally, you may miss an episode or two. With Hulu, say goodbye to those cheap two minute episode that “summarize” the episodes you missed. Hulu has full-length episodes of Heroes and all the other shows. The reason I keep on saying Heroes is because it is my favorite show. Once Hulu gets going, it is also going to support G4 the channel, too. It is going to start showing Attack of The Show (AOTS), along with G4. They even let you share the videos, which surprised me because you'd think they wouldn't let you share it!

There is a problem here though. Is Hulu a You Tube killer? I have mixed thoughts about this. So my answer is yes and no. I think that You Tube is definitely going to be hurt by this, but it is also going to hurt the networks, because having all the network shows is what makes You Tube appeal to most people, so this is going to drive publicity away from them. For You Tube, they are going to have a big storm hit them when Hulu opens to the public. When Hulu opens, You Tube is going to lose most of its viewers, and do you know where all of the lost viewers are going? Yep, you guessed it. Hulu.

However, I also think that NBC and the others are just hurting themselves because they are going to lose a chunk of publicity online. You Tube is one of their largest websites that “advertise” NBC and others by having their shows on You Tube's website. Now, I'm going to give an opinion here. I think that rather than totally pulling the plug on their shows on You tube, they should at least put two minute pod casts on it, so it drives people to their website in the thirst for more. It wouldn't hurt them so much then. It would actually drive more people to Hulu, right?

Okay, so I've informed you about Hulu and You Tube, and now it's your turn to give an opinion. Do you think that Hulu is a You Tube killer?
