Social Networking Vs. Love - Who Really Wins?

Maybe the internet is good for many things. For me it has been helpful for promotions, both in art and in the past, for work. It has been nice in other areas too, it has helped me to kill time, make some new friends, and learn things... I even met the love of my life on the internet.

But, I also think that it can be a bad thing too.

Social networks for instance. I think it is possible that they are the bane of relationships. Sure, they don't have to be, when not abused. At least in theory that should be the way it is. But really who's fooled by theory?

Scenario: You and the one you love are on a social network. You trust each other. There is no history of cheating or anything like that. What person alive can resist taking a peek at the comments that their significant other receives on said social site? What person in love can honestly say they don't care what other people may or may not be flirting with the person that they share their lives with? None that I know.

So, you innocently look and see what the world at large thinks about the one you love. Of course they think many of the same things you do about them. They think they are attractive. They dig some of their interests. The odd internet prowler overlooks the fact that it is readily available knowledge that they are in fact NOT single and flirts with them. You feel a bit of jealousy over these things, and that is natural, and healthy, but you never for one moment doubt your partner. As a matter of fact, with the jealousy, comes a sense of pride. They are with you after all, and everyone likes to be in possession of something that others want.

Next, you may playfully bring these things up. You really mean nothing by it. And in your mind, trust barriers have not been broken, I mean, really, you just saw what is right there and what everyone else could see. You are joking about it, but a hint of the jealousy you felt comes through. Naturally.

Now, your partner thinks you are checking up on them, and that you don't trust them. They get angry and it starts a fight, and breeds resentment. In some cases, it destroys relationships. And people let it.

Is it really worth it? Or should we just separate our internet lives from our daily REAL lives? Or banish this wonderful but massively misused tool from our desktops and minds in favor of love?

A Blog About Blogging

I'm new to the world of blogging. Really my eyes have been just recently opened to its useful and oft times amusing ways.

I had a friend who has been blogging for a year, she's a good and decent person and I take my cues from her. She's often witty and acerbic but still offers a touch of feminity and kindness that you often don't find in this mean old world of the internets; and from her I learned a lot.

If there's one thing I've learned is that blogging can be used for anything, and boy do I mean anything! From recipes to lol cats all the way down to just random thoughts being placed down where others can read. It's like a personal journal you want to share with the world. People in Rome talking about their city life, people in Cali talking about the latest gossip of Jennifer Aniston, that person in Texas talking about how to get stains out of a leather couch. You name it.

I find the whole thing fascinating yet intimidating. There's some big names out there in the blogging community and to stare at those names and wonder if you could ever be like them is a frightening thought. I guess the better question is, would I want to be like them? Is what do I have to say equally as important as their opinions? Could I possibly have something to say someone would want to read?

Yes, I think I do. I hope I do anyways. Making waves is apparently a speciality of mine, or so my friends have said. I wouldn't really know as I consider myself a rather quiet person until you get my hackles up. Then the kid gloves come off and I come in swinging.

But I'm not here for that. I'm here to learn and explore and hopefully communicate with others like me. Others who find life fascinating and enriching. To reach out to a community with the hopes of learning something so that at the end of the day I can say "I learned something today" and share it with others who are like minded.

What advice can other bloggers offer? What little gems of wisdom could someone give to another person who's trying to put thoughts into words?

It's easy to type, it's a simple act of the brains impulses putting your ideas into words on a screen. But to get the true meaning down to where someone else can say "hey I get it!" is an entirely different thing.

Four Awesome Instructional DIY Websites

These are four of the most useful websites in existence for anyone looking to learn a trade, art, troubleshoot, DIY hobby, or general know-how. I have found that these are websites to aide you in continuing your education or furthering your "game" when it comes to hobbies or leisure activities.

Yahoo! Answers

This is a great network of general purpose “Q&A” forums.

When you are stumped on how to reboot your frozen iPod or remove the latest pain-in-the-neck Trojan Virus that got past your Norton software, these forums are similar to knocking on your neighbors door and asking them to take a look at the problem. There are tons of very knowledgeable, eager to lend a hand surfers on the web.

They say the only stupid question is one that isn't asked. So, if you can't find the answer you are looking for, simply post a new thread for your own question. It's extremely easy.

The down side is that you are potentially getting misinformation from people just as qualified as you… meaning they own a computer connected to the internet. Take everything you get with a grain of salt and do as much fact checking as possible.

Wiki Answers

This is a better quality version of the same forums as set by Yahoo! Answers; however, the moderation of this site tends to weed out more of the scam artists and internet thugs. I also find that Wiki Answers has slightly less traffic than Yahoo! Answers, but that traffic is of a more expert nature. The responses on Wiki Answers to most formed questions tends to have a more in-depth, researched response as opposed to a “know-it-all-who-actually-knows-nothing” short-hand response like Yahoo! Answers.

But, again keep in mind that these are everyday people and their information can be wrong.

YouTube

I know what you're thinking… YOUTUBE? ARE YOU KIDDING?

To use YouTube effectively to educate yourself you need to be good at narrowing your searches. Most anything you are looking to accomplish, someone else has videotaped themselves doing it. Unfortunately, you have to sift through the mountainous pile of dribble and utter crap on YouTube first. But beneath all of the terribly done acoustic covers of songs that already sucked and videos of preteen girls dancing in front of the mirror, there is quality information.

I have watched videos on cooking, software tutorials, car repair, and music instruction. The good thing about a YouTube Tutorial is that unlike the text responses on Wiki Answers or Yahoo! Answers, you are watching a firsthand video and will definitely notice if the person in the video fails the objective.

ExpertVillage

I use Expert Village almost daily for guitar lessons and cooking tips. This site is absolutely awesome. There are videos and text files instructing you on nearly every topic you could come up with. The browse interface works fairly well and you could easily waste hours sifting through all the interesting topics.

The best part is that these videos are all recorded and hosted by ACTUAL Experts. Every post has a description of the person posting the video. Typically you'll notice that these are professionals or professors with decades of experience in the field of topic they are discussing.

Expert Village has an application process that sifts out the weaklings. If a user can't show credentials or a CV that supports their "expert" status they are not allowed to post.

The quality of this information is exponentially higher than any other site out there. The tutorials are broken up into short, manageable bits of information that are small enough to be streamed with even the slowest of connections.

Virtual Dating

Then there came emails, chat rooms, community sites and a plethora of areas for people to explore the many opportunities out there. With all this technology and the world becoming even smaller, but more crowded, the internet seems to have back fired. We have access to more things, yes. We meet people we may have never met before, yes. We can talk to family or friends around the world, virtually for free, yes. But how has this effected our own personal worlds.

I am not single right now, but if I was, how in the heck would I be able to use the internet to find a date. If you do a search for online dating you come up with an astounding number of results that equals about three times the population of California. Once you join one of the sites, then you have on average, 400-500 people to go through to find someone you are interested in. Then you talk with them over email and get to know each other and find out that the picture they had up is from high school and they are 10 years older now, if it is them at all.

What happened to the old fashioned dating? You know the one that isn't virtual. The one where you two walk into a room and your eyes lock and there is an instant attraction. How can you lock eyes and feel that romance online? There are video's now, but how do you really know unless your are actually looking into each others eyes and your stumble over your words instead of back spacing or deleting.

It is just amazing that online dating is so popular, but then again it's not. It is much easier to sit in your own home where you are safe. It is easier to handle rejection because you can line a few up at the same time and they will never run into you while you are out on another date. If you don't like them, you can block them out and send their messages to the trash. You can be who you want to be instead of who you are. I guess the popularity of online dating isn't so amazing when you think about it. We live in a new world where peoples lives exist in a virtual world and it is much easier to control that world than it is our own.

Three Important Lessons Every Online Money Maker Should Know to Become Successful

You must fail

No, I don't want to scare you. My point is...failure is good..if you see the good site. Wait, failure has a good site? Surely it does! There is a lesson in each failure. And if you take that lesson and learn it, you win! So, failure is not a failure for itself if you take the lesson and make sure you learn it so you won't repeat the same mistake again.

Test & Track Everything

Yes, in business, testing and tracking is everything. There were some things in which I were 100% sure would work and they didn't. Also there were some things which I didn't think would work in my dreams and they worked like crazy! Do you want to know if some new internet marketing idea or maybe a new way to acquire leads is working? TEST IT. And expect successes and failures. If you reach failure, remember that failure is good if you take the lesson of it. In this case, you've seen that the method you tested doesn't work. That's very good lesson to learn.

Look from other person's perspective

If there is any one secret of success, it lies in the ability to get the other person's point of view and see things from that person's angle as well as from your own. - Henry Ford

Do the exact thing Ford said. When you have a new idea, for example creating new marketing campaign, ask yourself: If I were the person who saw this commercial, would I be persuaded to that product? It's simple, it's obvious and it's VERY POWERFUL.

Learn from the best

Learn from the people who actually MAKE MONEY. Not of those who say that make money, or from those who say they are going to make money. Or maybe those who pray to earn money. I have written a great article about a list of resources where you can find people who make money, it is available here.

Take total responsibility

If something doesn't work, take total responsibility. Don't blame the circumstances. Maybe you should try to do the same thing again, this time with more attention. Taking responsibility is the most important thing towards the feeling that you have control and can change the things that are happening around, not just blaming everything.

I hope this articled helped you get some crucial points about how to be successful in this business.

Online Nursing

Nursing has become one of the most sought after professions today. Undeniably the demand for nurses has extraordinarily gone beyond what was projected and expected. In recent years, nursing has become a hot item.

With the advent of a technological era, the profession has also kept abreast with the introduction of state- of - the art equipment and breakthroughs aside from the lucrative remuneration that it affords.

In the 1990s, nursing degrees went on-line making nursing education accessible to all via computer technology. This is another innovation that has warrant the growing demand for nursing both as a degree and a profession.

On- line nursing degrees have become the nursing industry's response to the growing application of computer technology in various industries. It is its way of showing that nursing can also keep apace with the latest technological trends.

In on-line nursing, lectures are done on-line. The net has become the library comparable to what libraries in the universities and colleges can afford. Teleconferencing and e-mails have become medium of interaction among instructors and students.

However great care should be made by those students who intend to be e-learners. They have to choose nursing programs offered by universities and colleges that can ensure quality curriculum and can meet clinical standards and accreditation. After all, whether it's in the classroom or through on-line, you've got to make it sure you're getting back you money's worth.

Researcing Into the Unknown

Research may be as simple as just going into Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. But researching for a project contains more than just opening a web browser. The quality information is based on the websites that you have based your information from.

A good informative website for projects, essays and reports should consist, or may consist of the following:

It should end with ".edu" or "org". This is because a lot of school related websites are often created for the use of their students. And students should receive accurate materials.

It should have an author. Having an author should be a sign that the information can not be edited.

Bad sites include Wikipedia, but are a great starting point. Wikipedia is bad because anyone in the world has the ability to edit the current information.

You should use the three site rule. The 3 site rule is to take the imformation from 3 sites and compare if the information on all 3 are similar if not, the same.

Don't forget to cite down the websites you use in APA/MLA format.

Flash Action Scripting: Six Scripts for Beginners

For years, Flash has been the choice of many Web designers who want to create banner ads, Web sites; etc. But Flash is not just about animation or graphics; there is also a programming side to this software program, and it can be difficult to learn. But if you're just starting out, these six types of Action scripting scripts may help you get started with the programming side of Flash.

The Stop Function

This is one of the most basic and easy actionscript codes to learn. All it does is stop the Flash movie. So if you're animating a scene for an online movie and want the movie to stop on a certain keyframe then you just need to utilize the stop command. Here's the script: stop();

The Play Function

Obviously, this Actionscript code does the exact opposite of the stop function. If you're at a point in your Flash movie where you want the movie to move forward then you just utilize the play function. Here's the code snippet: play();

Linking to Another Site

So what do you do if you want to link to another website such as CNN or something? You'll just use the link function, which acts just like the "a href" function in HTML. Instead of "a href" you simply have "getURL". All you have to do is place the website address between the two quotation marks that follow the "getURL" code, and you will have successfully linked to another website. Here's the code: getURL("");

Loading And Unloading A Movie

Loading and unloading a movie is a simple code that can become extremely complex, depending on the type of project you are working on. You will use this script mainly to reduce the file size of your movie.

So if you use lots of graphics in your Flash movie/website then you will probably want to take advantage of the load and unload movie scripts. After all, the faster your movie loads the happier your web viewers will be. Nobody want to wait very long. Here's the scripts: loadMovie(); & unloadMovie();

The On Release Code

The on release script is one of the more important ones that you'll use. Most of the time you will place the above codes within the on release script. Here's an example:

on (release) {

getURL("weather.com", "_self");

}

It's fairly self explanatory. As for the word release, you're not limited to just that. Basically release means that the web surfer will click on the button where the on release code is, which will then tell the script to take the web surfer to the weather.com website. But you can also use rollover, rollout, drag over, drag out, press, release outside, and key press. Here's another example with the above code:

on (rollover) {

getURL("weather.com", "_self");

}

Just switch the words release and rollover and you're done. It's really that simple. Feel free to experiment with the other words if you like. After all, experimenting is the best way to learn.

Creating Movement With Code

In order to create movement with code, you'll need to create a movie clip in Flash. You can give it a name if you like or not; it really doesn't matter in this case. After your movie clip is created, press F9 to bring up the actions box. Then simply copy and paste this code into the action box(make sure you're in expert mode):

onClipEvent (enterFrame) {

_y += (_root.name -_y)/2.9;

}

onClipEvent (load) {

_root.name = 480;

}

You can test this code by pressing ctrl and enter simultaneously. If you were like me then you simply created a square, and turned it into a movie clip. It can be a circle or whatever you prefer. No matter what it is, it should have moved down when you tested it.

This is how the script works. Remember your Algebra classes? Well, this script actually utilizes a tiny bit of Algebra. "X" and "Y". Basically, "X" goes left to right and "Y" goes up and down. So if you want the above code to go from right to left then you would change the "Y" to an "X". Like this:

onClipEvent (enterFrame) {

_x += (_root.name -_x)/2.9;

}

onClipEvent (load) {

_root.name = 480;

}

The 2.9 has to do with the speed of the movie clip. So if you want the object to go faster you lessen the 2.9 to something like 1.5. To decrease the speed, you simply increase the 2.9 to something like 5 or 10. You can go higher if you like. Or lower.

As for "_root.name", this is the name that you have given the object/movie clip. If you were to have two objects in your Flash movie instead of one then you would need to provide another name for the other movie clip. So you could have "_root.name2" or something like that. Only the word name will need to be changed. Leave the "_root" alone.

And the number 480 represents how far the object/movie clip travels across your page. You can change it to whatever you like but be careful. If you increase or decrease the number too much then the object will disappear from the screen. You've told the object to basically go beyond what your screen can view.

The above codes that I have shown you only scratch the surface of the amount of Actionscripting that can be accomplished with Flash. However, you will need to learn these scripts in order to build a website entirely out of Flash. Even just a basic banner ad will require knowledge of some of these scripts.

      Have you ever thought about going to
Wikipedia
well it is a great website for
information but, it seems as though it is the only website for information when you may actually
need more sources for say a school project or something else that needs a lot of information.

      Another true point about Wikipedia is that some of the information posted is not true and
you can not always trust the sources you go to. Google is another source you can not always trust
because every thing that is posted on Google has been posted by someone just like me posting
this, you don't even know if this information is true(it is).

      Also if you have clicked on this page that means you probably wanted to go to
Wikipedia and now that you are quite angry at me (if you have even read this far) so now
you can either exit the web page or go to the actual Wikipedia and maybe using incorrect
information and even if you do use this information make sure you do not plagiarize (it's illegal.)

      When you are looking through the internet it is still one of the best web sites for school
information but, when you are looking for more advanced information you can not trust this site
and I would advise you to use a library or encyclopedias because you can know that this
information is 100% true unless you are looking in the fiction section then you will know that the
information is not true.

      But, if you are looking for fiction you can look all over the internet or the fiction part at
any library nearest you because that is the best source to find information on such things as a
Greek legend or olden time battles or anything else you could probably think of and you can even
make it up all by yourself.
