Nothing is ever easy or just plain simple. Sometimes, you have to get dirty to make it worth it.

Marketing your articles on Triond is no easy task for most people, including the seasoned veterans. You have to know where to look, you have to open up your minds to another form of relay switch.

What I mean by all of this is to think outside the box. I know it sounds cliché, and maybe it is but, some of us need some help and we are not afraid to ask.

I was so honored that so many of my Triond friends and fans came to me for guidance.

I am going to let you in on a few points that I hope will make a difference in your traffic count. At least try one everyday and see if it helps.

Social Bookmarking

By now, everyone is familiar with term but, do you really know if it’s working for you? Bookmarking articles, on many occasions, only benefit’s the writer by cataloging your articles for future reference. Also, Bookmarking is a way for users to manage webpages for the sole purpose of sharing them with people we know.

Honestly, this is from my own experience now everyone so don’t get upset, I don’t bookmark as much as the next person. If you have hundreds of friends that will religiously read your work than that’s wonderful but, would you mind millions of people across the globe surfing on the internet reading your work? Hmm

This is why I spend more time submitting to the sites that will make even a greater difference in page views.

I have noticed that when I directly submit my URL to the link submission page for every search engine my articles get crawled even quicker than if I submit through the Triond submit link tool next to the article.

As writers, we want our articles presented to the masses as quickly as possible not only for exposure but, to make a little pocket change.

If you have a lot of time, check out these social networks:

Digg - Make lots of friends because this is the true driving force of this website.

Stumbleupon - Add a toolbar to your browser to submit every piece you read and write.

My Space

Url Submission

These are the direct links to the major search engines to get you noticed right away.

Google - Direct link to URL: submission

Yahoo - Direct link to URL: submission

Live - Direct link to URL: submission

Ask - You can’t submit to Ask. They will find your link through links from other sites. Make sure you included external links in your articles to receive the exposure.

Search Enginez - Submit to Google, Yahoo, and many others from one place.

Submit Express - This site will submit your URL to over 40 Search Engines for free!

Wisenut

Exact Seek

Jayde

Whatuseek

Scrubtheweb

The list goes on and on.

Submit RSS Feed

Rss Feeds are used to publish work that is frequently changing. It’s a great option for Triond users who are constantly getting comments and submitting new work.

If you are unfamiliar on the location of these feeds, just go to one of your articles and scroll to the bottom where is says Subscribe to RSS.

Click on Subscribe to Feeds and get this screen.

Copy the URL.

Submit the URL to Rss Directories like:

Feedburner

Feedest

One of my favorites. Submit as many as you can all at once.

Blogoculars

Live Blog Directory with Live News Feeds.

External Links (Hyperlinks)

I can not stress enough how important it is to include as many external links within your blog as possible, remembering to keep it tasteful and relevant.

What is an external link? These links travel back to webpages that are pertinent to the subject matter and of course the word that is highlighted.

Play around with these in your articles. This is the best way for your page to be indexed by the major search engines.

Internal Links

These are links within your blog that pertain to another article you may have written that’s related.

We see these all over Triond:

Try adding some more within your piece.

I know this is quite a bit of information to digest but, if you have the time and most of us don’t, try to use the best options for you. Stop spending so much time on one option. It’s a learning process for all of us. I am here for each and every one of you if you have questions on how to implement the tasks at hand.

This has now become an obsession of mine and I am hoping it makes a difference for you as well. After all, we are all here for the same reason, to write and have our voices heard by fellow writers aspiring for greatness.

What Happens If You Google Google?

That's right; it's the question on every internet guru, regular Joe Bloggs', expectant mothers and everyday internet surfers minds alike. What search results do you get if you google the word Google? To put you all out of your misery, here are the top search results for the word Google from Google's own Google Search Engine.

Results may vary.

News Results for Google

Up to the minute news on what is popular with the Google range of web and non-web products including the hugely anticipated Google phone and how many rupees it will cost the average Indian resident, will it out do the Apple iPhone, and how Google is giving somebody $10 million for the best idea for a new product.

Google

Somewhat strangely, the second result when googling the word Google on the Google Search Engine is the Google Search Engine. That's right; you are directly linked to the site you originally typed the word Google into. Yeh go figure!

Google Reader

If you are set up with a Google account then Google Reader lets you share and follow along with content that you are interested in including blog sites you have chosen to follow on Blogspot. This site also brings you the recent happenings within the world of Google.

Google Maps

Provides you with a range of mapping tools including street maps, satellite images and even traffic maps. Search the route you need by using the very effective Google keyword search tool. Interestingly when you enter the Google Maps site, the first map you are provided with is a map of the United States of America.

Google

Yes you guessed it, a link to the Google Search Engine's home page but with an international flair. Depending on the country you live in and your service provider, you are linked to the Google Search Engine which sets the results to the most popular and relevant sites in your country i.e. www.google.co.nz

Google Video

Google's equivalent to You Tube, Google Video lets you watch, upload and share video from all corners of the internet. Again a keyword search tool is provided for your convenience so that if it happens that you want to hear Sarah Palin's riveting talks, it's all at your finger tips.

Google News

Not quite the same as the number 1 result for googling Google but a feature that lets you view all of the top stories in the world of news and providing you with your own defined Google News Search Engine. Great!

Google.org

Pulls together all of the information and technology resources to address the world's issues. Number 1 on their list of issues to resolve: Climate Change! Follow the blog to keep up with Google's progress.

Google Groups

Use your iGoogle account to access Google Groups and join in with thousands of others discussing different aspects of life. Or alternately, create your own group and encourage others to join it. You might like to start your very own "Ban Skateboarding" group.

Google Wikipedia, The Free encyclopedia

Surprisingly very low on the list of what you get if you google Google as Wikipedia generally make the top five search results in any search but not when you google Google. Find out all you need to know about the workings of Google, its origins, history and more.

Google

Not again, this time it's the U.K. specific Google Search Engine homepage. So if you're a Brit, google your guts out right here.

So there you have it. The top search results if you google the word Google in Google's search engine. Your off to google the word Google now aren't you?

Save Time Looking for Documents in the Internet

Imagine you are looking for information, there are many stuffs to review. You have no time to waste in the Internet. Maybe, you are looking for documents for your work, homework or your doctoral thesis. There are documents that have many pages, how can you review too information using less time? I will share with you some tricks to look for information in the Internet:

Search engines

There are many search engines that you can use to look for documents in the Internet. The most known are Google, AlltheWeb, Yahoo and MSN. Use more than one search engine. Use more than one and less than five key words to search for the information you are looking for. Do not look more than the first ten pages that you found using the search engines. The next pages have repetitive information, and make you to waste time.

Pages found using search engines and HTML text documents

The most "saving-time" command that you need to know is the command FIND using edit menu or CTRL+ F, the quick form. This command works similar in web browsers like Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome. For example, if you write on the browser of your search engine the topic that you want to find and hit enter key, you can read a summary of every title. If you find some title worthy, open it up, hit command CTRL+ F, write a phrase or key words in the command browser. Also you can highlight, all the part in the document with that phrase or key words. Read the pieces of the documents near the highlighted words. In this way you can decide, if you continue reading or go to another document. You can use this method for documents in Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, Open-office, etc.

PDF documents

You can use the same method for PDF documents and use CTRL+ F command. If you use Adobe Reader to open a document is useful the command SHIFT+CTRL+F. It opens a bar that allows to see all the result of your search and easily navigate into the document. Also, if you have several PDF documents saved in your computer, you can review several documents at the same time.

These tips are applied to editable text documents. Documents saved like images are difficult to review quickly. If you did not find editable text documents with the information that you are looking for, then check non-editable text documents, read index, titles and references. In this way, you can evaluate quick any document. Sometimes there are important information in these documents.

I hope that these tips will be useful for you. And always remember that "Time is money"

Traffic Paradise: How to Drown in a Website Visitor Deluge

Doing any type of business on the internet ultimately boils down to one central issue: How to get constant website traffic (in other words, how to get more site visitors). There's just no use making an impressive blog or webpage if no one will see it. When you create a web page or blog post, you wanna make sure that it is seen by as many eyeballs as possible.

The first question to ask is this : How much traffic do you need? The answer may vary, depending on the type of website you're running and the nature of your online business. For example, bloggers and content publishers go for tens of thousands of views before they can expect to earn serious revenue from their blog posts and submitted articles. Meanwhile people who retail stuff online usually need lesser amounts of traffic, but it has to be highly targeted to a specific audience.

Ok, if the above sentences did not make much sense to you, don't fret. Here are some cool tips for you to start doing so you can get more traffic to any webpage you choose:

Surf Other Blogs and Comment on Them

Try going to Google Blog Search and look for blogs that have a simlar topic to the webpage or blog you're promoting. Then leave useful comments on those pages. Don't just make spammy comments. Share useful thoughts and participate actively in any discussion. When you frequently do this, you wll accomplish three basic things:

The owners of the blog you comment on have a greater chance to visit your website (this is their way of returning the favor to you). Most blogs allow you to leave a link to your webpage each time you post a comment. People see your link, so they click it and end up on your website/blog.

Your website link will be popular. When your website link is posted on hundreds of other different blogs (just by simply posting comments), Google will decide that your link is important and popular. Therefore, your website address will push higher on search engines.

You will gain more recognition in the blogosphere. This is important for long term traffic.

Study Google Trends

By going to www.google.com/trends, you will find popular search keywords that real people are actively searching online. For example, a recent Google trend showed that Michael Phelps ranked number 2 on Google as the most searched keyword in August. Based on that trend, you may want to provide content that appeals to readers of the same topic. By knowing what's truly popular online, you will be in a position to provide content that many people will love to read. The result? More traffic and more clickthroughs for you.

Ride The Web 2.0 Wave

There are many sites that offer you opportunities to share your useful links and content to other people. The sites that come to mind are Digg, NewsVine, Facebook, Myspace, Reddit and many others. The key is to build a network of friends and a solid reputation on each of these sites. Then when your network of contacts has been established, sharing yor stuff is gonna be a whole lot easier.

Take time to master the culture of each site mentioned above. Others are strict and doesn't allow you to blatantly promote your links. In other Web 2.0 sites, meanwhile, you are expected to read and promote other people's works so others can do the same for you as well. Master the rules and regulations of each Web 2.0 site mentioned above and make sure you abide by them.

Is building traffic hard work? Is this a rocket science? My answer to both questions is yes! Now let me ask you a question: Who ever told you that it's all gonna be easy?

There's no free lunch, so to speak!

The good news is, as you gradually move up and build a huge contact base and reputation online, things will start to get easier and easier. The traffic will become more constant. It's all worth it in the end, if you have the patience and perseverance to do what it takes to succeed on the internet.

Google just released a new web browser they had been working on for about 2 years now. It was said that when Microsoft released Internet Explorer 7, Google got very serious about the web browser and how to improve it and make it better than any web browser our there!
I myself have personally reviewed this web browser, and it is indeed fast, as it is only in the BETA stag, things such as IRC support, Add-ons, and Plug-ins are still not built into the browser. They may release the support and few other extra's when it finalizes the real launch. But for now you can download it on the Google homepage, they have a "New!" sign right next to it.

It's been on the news it quite a lot of places, who knows, maybe Google will be releasing an Auction website soon enough and it may over take eBay over time. The official BETA release date was September 2, 2008 11:59:59 PM. Right now they do not know the actual launch date of the new web browser, but there is websites where you can keep up to date on what is happening.

When you install Google Chrome, you have the choice to choose if you want to send crash reports and other things to Google if the program crashes so they can fix it. Some people agree that it is nice they allow you the option to choose.

I hope this helps you in making a good choice on which web browser to shoot for, thanks for reading.

The Search Engine Wars: Five Classic Battlefields Where Google and Yahoo Meet

We have all learned to love Google and Yahoo. They give us instant access to information, photos, videos, websites. Yes, these search engines even help us find answers to everyday life. With the rise and popularity of web spider technology, possibly one question comes to the minds of majority of internet users:

Which is the best search engine out there, and which will dominate the internet in the future years to come?

Listed below are five (5) distinct areas where Google meets face to face with Yahoo, in an attempt to win your affection, support, and of course, your elusive click. Let's see who wins!

Google Search Results versus Yahoo Search Results

At first glance, there seems to be no difference. But look closely. While Yahoo gives you the most popular sites regarding the topic you're searching for, Google gives you MORE and BETTER search results. Just try to type Barack Obama, and you'll see that Google Search will show you an index of pages that are not present in Yahoo Search.

The result? Google wins by unanimous decision.

The Home Page: Who Gets The Vote?

The home page is very important because it gives readers an overview of what's happening in the world on a specific day. Google is known for its simple, "uncomplicated" page (is there such a word as 'uncomplicated?). All it has is a simple field where you can type your search keyword and some additional buttons.

Yahoo is different. The home page contains news, information, games, e-mail and many other features. You can even do your own online research survey by looking at the "Today's Top 10 Searches" section (this feature is vital for bloggers who need to choose popular topics to write about). Yahoo News gives you fresh updates every half hour or so. Being on Yahoo gives you a feeling that you're up to date with all the events of the world.

The outcome? Yahoo wins by KO.

Unique Search Engine Features

Both Yahoo and Google have unique search engine features that the other doesn't have. For example, Yahoo Search gives you the capability to have a 'video' search and a 'shopping' search. Google, meanwhile, offers you a chance to do a 'blog' search, where you can surf all kinds of blogs on a specific topic. Both of these unique features are highly useful, and I cannot live online without having one of them around!

Who wins? Well, it's clearly a draw!

The Email Service Is Where The Rubber Meets The Road

This is where the going gets tough. Both of these search engine networks offer outstanding email services. So the question is this: Is Yahoo Mail better than Gmail? Well, I don't know the stats and all those complicated stuff, but I agree that Yahoo is the "the best frequented web based email", as stated on the Yahoo Mail home page. However, Gmail seems to be catching along pretty quick.

This is an unofficial verdict, but I think Yahoo wins by a narrow margin -- a split decision.

Google Adwords/Adsense vs. Yahoo Search Advertising

The advertising and publishing service that Yahoo offers appeals to big website owners. When I say 'big', I meant websites that have huge amounts of commercial traffic, and this includes company home pages, professional business sites, and websites owned by companies which are popular in the world. However, Yahoo Search Advertising is a pay per click method that is yet to outperform the Google advertising system (am I biased? I don't think so). Here's why:

Google Adwords (advertising aspect), and Google Adsense (publishing aspect), appeals to the 'little guy' and individual blog/website owners. Virtually anyone who has a blog or website can advertise and publish with Google. And because Google owns Blogger.com (one of the largest free blog providers), anyone who has a Blogger account can register with Google Adsense, a pay per click publishing service that pays you for placing Google ads on your blog. This unique appeal to the masses places Google on top of all online advertising systems, and they might stay on top for a long time. So in terms of advertising, Google wins by KO!

But when it comes to indicating which is the best search engine on this planet, YOU will be the one to ultimately decide. So what's your pick?

Cool Places: Search for Top Quality Information Beyond Google!

The Internet is a vast sea of endless information updated all the time and with more and more new pages all the time. Human being's brains were never so exposed to this kind of stimulation ever before, so I hope that our kids won't grow up like demon-info beings.

Let's go to the subject that matters: Information beyond Google.

No intro needed here. If you want the best in the world, this is the place. End of the story!

This place is full of expert authors that will give you a lot of high quality information for free, all they get is a simple backlink to their sites. Since all the articles are reviewed by experts don't worry about finding fake or low quality information. The kind of content you can find here is almost endless. From business to health to cars and relationships you will for sure get that here.

Another place to get some nice info. However since most writers are here for the profit and not for the good of their readers, don't expect the best all the time. Another reason is because the articles are not reviewed directly by any expert or editor don't trust very much in this place, use it only when all other alternatives were not enough for your needs or desires.

Like Helium this place is not reviewed by experts and most people publish a lot of low quality content here, so don't expect to find the best all the time and since most Lens Masters are here to make money expect to find a lot of fake and low quality information designed to sell you something.

This place sells info for webmasters to publish on their own websites or magazines. Sometimes you can find something really good here so this is a good candidate for a Google alternative. Use this place only when you exaust all the other alternatives!

Seven Google Easter Eggs

You may know, or not know, that the people at Google.com aren't the typical boring techies you'd imagine. They have a lot of odd and amusing little Easter eggs built into the website. Here are a few of my favourites:

Alternative Search Engines

Forget English, French, German and all the other countless language google is available in. What about Pig Latin? And Klingon?

The Pig Latin search engine

The Elmer Fudd search engine

The Klingon search engin

Also, there are search engines with specialized logos. Just type google.com/{BSD/Linux or Microsoft.}

The Answer to Life

Google has an excellent calculator built into it's search function - and for those familiar with The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, this will be amusing. Just type 'answer to life, the universe and everything' without the quotes, and you'll be provided with the answer.

Also try 'once in a blue moon' and 'number of horns on a unicorn'.

Gothic Google?

Not directly connected to google, but type 'Google Gothic' into the search engine, and press 'I'm Feeling Lucky' to be presented with a wonderful, alternative search engine to meet your needs.

Chuck Norris

Again, not directly related but amusing nonetheless. Just type into google 'find chuck norris', and click 'I'm Feeling Lucky'. See what you find.

Google Reads Minds!

It sure does. Just head over here and click the spinning circle and it will predict your search for you! Hopefully, if you concentrate hard enough, you'll notice the April Fools Day footnote on the page.

Head Chef, Gmail

I actually didn't notice this for a long time. Anyhow, as you know, Google's Gmail, has paid ads that hover just above the 'Archive' 'Report Spam' etc. buttons. They are normally something that relates to recent messages in your inbox or recent news, "smart" advertising. (Mine reads: Reuters: Oddly Enough - Baby pronounced dead lives after hours in cooler - Aug 20")

But, when you go into your 'Spam' folder, you'll see that it's replaced by links to recipes! Keep refreshing your Spam folder, and you could quite possibly build up a 'Spam' recipe repertoire. 'Spam Skillet Casserole' anyone?

Everyone Has One...

Everyone has a reflection, so why not Google? Check it out here.

So there you go, 7 of my favourite easter eggs. Search and see if you can find many more ;]

Five Websites You Can't Live Without

Oh great user of the web. Surfer of the internet. Connoisseur of the .com's. It is you who keeps online business afloat, single handedly paying for employee salaries with your regular purchases and spur of the moment splurges. Advertisers know it is you, the repeat customer, whose business is most valuable, and their incentive based sales and coupons keep your business more regular than someone on a diet exclusively on prunes. But when you cast aside the sales driven incentives, what websites can't we live without? My friend, I am here to tell you.

In no particular order, I present to you 5 websites we can't live without:

eBay

As one radio DJ described eBay, “it's ingenious, you buy things at an auction so as you bid on items you "win" them, making your purchase feel more like winning the lottery than buying something.” This is pretty accurate. Though you haven't really “won” them item, you've merely “won” the right to purchase it. A genius business concept and for the internet shopper it's an ever-changing site you can't miss.

Amazon

While it isn't eBay with its auctions, Amazon offers good deals on a number of items and their book prices beat Barnes and Noble and Borders any day. It doesn't have the glamour of eBay, but when you a need book or other ever day item this is place to go (not to mention free shipping on all orders over $25).

ESPN

It really doesn't matter if you're interested in sports, because odds are somebody you know is. For that very reason the ease of ESPN is so convenient even non-sports people use this site. Need to catch up on the latest info of your loved one's favorite team? Two minutes on ESPN will have you rattling off information even they don't know.

Wikipedia

Before the internet we were all stuck with that terrible situation: when an intellectual conversation of varying sorts came to the crossroads were parties differed on the definition of something: a word, a date, an idea. Few people own entire sets of encyclopedias and unless you had a friend or relative in academia finding the answer was often difficult. With Wikipedia friendly disputes can be quickly resolved.

Google

Yeah, yeah, this is such a boring selection. But somebody had it right when perhaps the simplest of all search engines grew to be worth billions of dollars. Google pioneered the idea of sorting websites based on popularity, not advertiser contribution. Remember the days when Yahoo! would offer to put your site “near the top of the page” if you were willing to pay? Well Google decided that search users wanted results for a reason and that they were better off helping the user not the advertiser.

Perhaps you used to be loyal to Dogpile or Altavista and maybe you still use those sites. It's even possible you prefer Yahoo! (what, with all its features). But I dare you to tell me you've never used Google. The company's name has even become a verb. Simply judging search engines by their names reveals Google's superiority. Altavista? What does that mean? Yahoo!, who says that anymore? Dogpile? I definitely don't want to be at the bottom of that. Ask Jeeves? Does that site still exist? I guess I could google it…
