Top Five Science Websites

If you're like me, you probably want to read as much as possible on science. These site will help you stay inform on all the latest news and discoveries.

NewScientist

This is my preferred website for science news. It is mostly free of charge despite the fact that some articles require a subscription. The information is presented in medium length articles or video. Subjects covered are very diverse and very interesting.

The "latest headlines" section give you a quick access to the latest science news. The perfect site to visit at your lunch break.

Popular Science

Popular science is a little less popular than NewScientist but still very interesting. Medium length articles on a very wide range of subjects and all of them are free of charges. However, many articles are a little more on the fiction side of science but that doesn't mean they're not interesting.

Scientific American

On the more serious side, this offers in depth article on a variety of science subjects. For some reasons, I visit this site a little less often that the 2 previous one but it is still a very interesting site.

Nova

If you prefer video instead of text, this site is for you. They have a rich archive section where you can look at video classified by interest. They also have interactive pages where you can, for example, simulate the impact of a meteor on nearby regions.

Space

If astronomy is your thing, this is the site. The top stories section give you access to the latest news in astronomy and the "featured" section offers more in depth articles. Every shuttle missions are covered in great details and there is also an easy access to Nasa live TV.

Death: The Last Taboo

If you have ever wondered about what happens during an autopsy, there is a website I recommend.

It is called Death-The Last Taboo, it features an "Interactive Autopsy" section, found here
. If you are an anatomy and science buff then this site is great for educational purposes.

I ran across it the other day and found it very informative. Personally I find autopsies to be somewhat unnecessary, yet at the same time in some cases they do serve a purpose.

Example:`If a person is in a car accident or dies of unknown causes.

Normally I would say leave the business of death to the morticians,
but in some way or another, the subject affects and fascinates us all.

Why?

Human curiosity, and the pursuit of ever increasing amounts of knowledge.
If you are in the medical field then this site may be a good tool.
I believe if we better understand human anatomy,
we can better prevent and treat diseases.

I do not claim to be an expert in the field, but I do like to learn.
Knowledge is power as the old saying goes.
I hope you found this article informative and the link educational.

Thank you all for reading

10 Geeky Websites: Where Real Geeks Gather

Geeks are usually very smart people that are heavily involved in computers, science and technology, but geeks are also very complex individuals with a broad range of unusual interests. Non-geeks can learn a lot from the things that geeks are involved in, because after all, it was ubergeeks (really smart techies) that invented the modern-day computers and software that the world relies on everyday.

Geek Of The Day

Stop stressing and take your daily dose of geek humor and you’ll probably feel better. Geek jokes, stories and pictures can be offensive to some sensitive people. So far, this site has been fun and interesting to visit.

Hack A Day

If you like tinkering with electronics and technology, then this site offers some very interesting information about modifying home electronics, video game consoles and much more, using simple hacks and techniques.

Hacked Gadgets

Here’s another awesome gadget idea website. Learn about a remote control spy car or play with cornstarch and maybe if there is enough time left, then race your “ShakerRacer BlueTooth RC Cell Phone Car” around. Cool little gadgets that you can build.

Brainy Quote

Do you blog or routinely make rounds in your favorite forums? This website offers a vast quantity of famous quotes once spoken by world leaders, artists, writers, business leaders, scientists and a lot of other categories. Need to find that perfect quote, and then I would visit here first.

E-Skeletons

According to the website “The eSkeletons Project website is devoted to the study of human and primate comparative anatomy.” This site makes learning about bones and tissues fun. Using a unique set of digitized 2-D and 3-D full color animations visitors can get a virtual look inside the human and primate skeletons.

Chemical Elements

Raise you hand if you remember the Periodic Table, because I sure didn't. This is one cool and confusing website even for a geek like me. Lookup the element or metal that you desire and presto, pops out the info with charts and graphs and everything. This site would be useful for students.

Coffee Geek

Starbuck's is the epicenter for afternoon geek gatherings all over the world and because of this love affair with the rich, full body bean and sipping coffee while chatting computers has converted some individuals into coffee geeks. For people who really love to brew their own pot or just interested in learning about coffee brews, then this site will tease the taste buds. Read reviews, flip through a how-to guide or share your opinions about coffee and/or the culture with other members.

Geekologie

If cool futurist gadgets are your thing, then this website delivers the goods. Whether it is flying drones or plastic cars, Geekologie is a major geek site that you'll want to bookmark.

Board Game Geek

Not all geeks are workaholics and BoardGameGeek proves that geeks love playing board games. This website offers the biggest and most comprehensive database of board games, card games and print n' play games online. Members actively review games that they are playing or have played and shares ideas with the rest of the community. Anything about games that person needs to know, then BoardGameGeek is the best place to find the information.

FixYa

“FixYa provides free tech support and technical help for gadgets, electronic equipment and consumer products” and they store manuals and guides for over 500,000 products. FixYa may be able to save a person both time and money through teaching them how-to do the job themselves. There is an optional membership upgrade that has some costs associated with it, but it is only optional.

Bonus Site - Just For Fun: Innergeek Test

Ok, have you ever wondered, just how geeky you really are? You can stop wondering and take the Geek Test and see what you score. The test is pretty straightforward that is separated into several categories and then, you just select in each category what statement(s) describes you best. Once finished the test, then click “Rank My Geekiness” and get the results instantly. (Please note, that this is not a scientific test and is only a geeky toy).
