Great Ideas for Using Public Works and Profiting From It

Re-publish public domain content . A lot of the information is relevant today. Books on recipes, public speaking, hobbies and learning languages all contain knowledge that is applicable to our time (50 or 60 years don’t change the way you bake a cake, for example). All you need to do is to find the relevant public domain work, re- package it according to your needs and then create a business model around it.

Use Public Domain as a source of content for your website. Whether you want to start a membership website or just an informational website that earns money through advertising and affiliate revenue, the important thing is that you won’t have to wait for months to create the content , it’s ready for you to use immediately.

Create a derivative work . Use the public domain work to spawn targeted, niche- relevant products by creating your own product around it.

Change the format of the public domain work , create an audio course for a how-to- manual to increase the ‘perceived value’ of the product so you can make more money off the same information.

Release the product in multiple, complimentary mediums. This is a combination of the above two ideas . You can teach a course using audio CDs, instructional watch- and-learn DVDs and package a learning manual together to make a killer course that is a physical product instead of allowing people to simply download your book. This immediately raises the value of what you’re selling.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. There dozens and dozens of concrete examples of using public domain works within your business, either to supplement your business model or to create a new income stream.

Some people say that because the information in the public domain is limited, there’s no point in going after the ‘public domain riches’. In fact, there has never been a better time to start. What you should concentrate on is to find new ways to market old ideas. How can you do that?

Differentiate your product . Instead of selling old and rare books, work on building a niche for yourself on old philosophical works only. This is a very viable business idea and I’ll tell you how in a little while.

Find new ways to sell an existing product . The usual example given here is to convert an eBook or how-to course into a series of audio tapes or videos. However, you can also take an existing public domain work and split it up into several parts, and sell them separately, a public domain work on poker strategies could be divided into 3 parts , poker games, poker history and poker strategies.

Remember: Create a new product out of an old idea

How to Turn Your Ideas Into Wealth

I have discovered that no man or women can become rich without a sound idea. Yes, I have read so many books like Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, Discovering Your Potential and Maximize your Potentials both written by Myles Munroe and so any other wonderful books written by seasoned authors. In all my research, I noticed that they all laid emphasis on ideas.

Sound ideas are the fuels needed to kick start the vehicle of success. In fact without a sound idea, there is no chance of becoming wealthy. Many great inventors and scientists who discovered the solution to certain problems and proffered solution to them just acted on a simple sound idea. Ideas are the brain child of so many wonderful discoveries like the television set, radio, telephone and airplanes.

It is also expedient that I let you know that internet gurus like Brain Tracy ,Yaro Starak, Robert, Allen, Ewen Chie and Eban pagan, became wealthy just selling information to people on the Internet from their sound ideas.

How To Generate Sound Ideas

The basic avenue to generate sound ideas is to identify a need. If you can make a very detailed research on the needs of the people leaving within your geographic location and Think on how to solve the problem, an idea will always be presented to a willing mind.

God is also the source of sound ideas, Nigerians were novices to genuine Internet business few years ago until a Nigerian called sunny Ojeagbase decided to bring genuine Internet business to their doorsteps through has magazine called Success Digest. That sound idea has made him a millionaire and an authority in the Internet business in Nigeria.

What are your ideas? Do you want to build the first house without a pillar? Do you want to become an Internet millionaire? Put your ideas to action. Action is the vehicle that carries your ideas to the island called success. Act on your idea today and become financially independent. Remember, for your ideas to become a reality, they must be converted through had work.

Making Friends on the Internet

The internet has become the new Super Highway for information. You can now send and receive messages in almost no time at all. You can talk to people all around the world, share photos, writings, even meet people and grow new friendships that last a lifetime. Do you remember the days of snail mail? You would wait weeks sometimes months for a letter from a pen pal. Then it would come and the excitement within you would be boiling over because you finally got the mail. You would sit glued to the new letter reading and treasuring every last detail contained within it. I know, I sure do remember. But I also remember the let down as well because the advice or moment you were trying to share was long over by the time your friends received that precious letter you sent them.

The internet has rocketed forwards and what we once thought to be a great achievement of modern day technology has now become the dinosaur, yes a thing of the past. Businesses are being created and ran from home using computers and web sites all by means of this wonderful modern day technological advancement called the internet. The internet has bridged the gap and has eliminated the walls and miles that separate so many. With but a click of the mouse you can join and inform the entire world of news in a nana second. You can start your cam and within but a very few moments see your friends and talk with them almost as if you were sitting in their room with them.

If I were asked though what the internet has done for me and how has it changed my life? I would have to say, it has helped me to help others as well as myself. It has given me yet another family of great new friends. Friends that are always willing to sit and talk. Friends that share parts of their hearts with me that no other has seen. It has given me my life mate. It has taken me to all four corners of the world; giving me the tools and the means to see and reach deep into the hearts and mindsets of others. The internet has also brought me together with people of like mind and by doing so it has helped me to move forward on the walk of life I've chosen.

It has helped me to research many things and to catalog the results of my research. Yes, the internet has shown me that great endings often have small beginnings. It has become an ongoing educational part of my life and has helped me pass on the knowledge of my lifetime and the lessons I've learned along the way. Yes, for me the internet is a wonderful new concept.

Going Green

Most of the time you find valuable information on the web, but every so often you come across that one site or article that doesn't quite do it for you.

However, there are ways to avoid this "phony" green info sites. Simply thinking for yourself will definitely help. Try to think about what problems are prevalent in the world today. Then think of a way to try and fix it… even if it's something as small as not using the same kind of toothpaste.

I came across this website, Green Options, and thought that it could definitely help those who have trouble deciphering the good from the bad. It's well written and has the capability of expressing some true green ideas.

It's not an advertisement for the site and in no way am I connected to it. It was just a helpful site that I would like to pass on to all those who are interested in helping our planet in any way possible. There are tips as well as professional articles giving advice to all those who need it.

Remember: keep it clean and stay green.

10 Stupid Ideas That Created Millionaire Web Pages

This post will probably make you think that you spend way too much time surfing the web without doing anything productive, or at least not as the guys that had the following ideas. This is a list of 10 totally stupid ideas, thought by people just like you and me, but with the only difference that with hard work (or not) have turned out to be excellent business and turned their owners in millionaires.

Lucky Wishbones Co.

Everybody likes playing with wishbones after eating some good chicken, but producing large productions of plastic wishbones and selling them online seems just stupid. Not for this guys, who thought that there shouldn't be more fights during Thanksgiving to break the wishbone, so they started back in 2004 this business so that everybody can break them (vegetarians too!).

PickyDomains

Tired of looking cool names for your web site? If this is your case you don't have to spend ours doing it, just pay other guys to do it for you. It is the extreme case of laziness but incredibly it turned out a successful business.

Designer Diaper Bags

Being a mother doesn't mean you have to be out fashioned, that's what Christina Leigh thought a couple of years ago and she decided that diaper bags are the new trend. Since then her company haven't stopped selling cool diaper bags all across America.

PositivesDating

Just another site which promises to find the love of your life online, but why is this site so popular?

The difference is that to be part of it you've got to got AIDS. It's a good idea, but it amazes how profitable it is.

Fitdeck

Back in University a group of students spend lots of time playing a card game. Was it Poker? No, the answer is Fitdeck. The game consisted of picking up special cards which have different exercises that the one who pick them must do. This idea was transformed into business by a soldier recently with the objective of making people more athletic. Incredible.

Antenaballs

The responsible of the fact that thousands of Americans have large plastic heads in the top of their radio antennas are a group of students who thought it was really cool, and it is.

LaserMonks

This business was blessed, really, because now monks apart from praying god are offering ink toner for your printers. It's not weird this company's success, after all, they've got God in their side.

Doogles

Making sunglasses for your dog is weird, but selling them in Internet, and make a fortune with it is even more. These guys thought it was an excellent idea and money is talking. Furthermore, they are expanding their business making outdoor gear and jewelry for our four legged friends.

Santa Mail

Every year millions of kids around the world write a letter to Santa asking for presents, it is a perfect opportunity to make a profit out of it. The guys of Santa Mail were bright enough to create a postal code that makes them seem to be in the North pole so kids send there letters directly to Santa Claus. No kid would miss the chance of sending their petitions right to Santa's place.

Million Dollar Page

These case was one of the most covered by the media. Some years ago a student didn't have enough money to afford college so he came up with the idea of having a web page exclusively with ads. He bought a domain and divided the page in a million pixels and sell them in a hundred package costing each pixel just one dollar. The rest of the story is history.

Wikipedia: Freely Edited Information

According to Wikipedia, Wikipedia is a multi-lingual, web-based, encyclopedia project operated by the non-profit organization, the Wikipedia Foundation. Many Wikipedians enjoy this website shown by the millions of dollars raised by annual Wikipedia Fundraisers. On this website, all content is free and there are over 8.3 million articles in over 250 different languages (Wikipedia). This popular database that often comes up as the first link presented when you google anything has possibly more information than any other encyclopedia in the world. Yet for some reason many educators, critics, and scholars find this website unethical and unreliable because it can be edited and changed by anyone. My question for all those interested in Wikipedia: Why is Wikipedia criticized so often and are these critics just?

First, let's look at what the website looks like before we talk about the criticism. The website is www.wikipedia.org, which will take you to the main page. The main page has a small globe of Greek letters fitting together like a puzzle piece at the top left corner of the screen and the rest of the main page has various news articles. On the middle left of the page has Wikipedia's search engine and below that shows the different languages you can search with. Along with the main page, all of the articles are colored mostly gray and white with black lettering. All of the individual articles are changed and edited everyday by online groups or just random people.

The main debate as to why Wikipedia is so despised is because random people can change whatever article's information to whatever they want. Stephen Colbert, a popular comedian, who runs a satirical portrayal of T.V. news programs on Comedy Central asked Wikipedia users to say that the average number of African Elephants has tripled in the last six months. This change was done and other edits like this occur everyday. As I stated earlier, Wikipedia has more information than any other encyclopedia on the Internet and since people can change the information on it, it becomes unreliable because you can't defer from what is true and what isn't without checking your sources. Wikipedia often comes up on the most popular search engine, Google's first few web links whenever people search for anything online. Since Google is the main research tool web surfers use to look for information online and Wikipedia has become its main provider of information because of its abundant pool of knowledge, the despised Wikipedia has therefore became the Internet's main provider of information. Because Wikipedia is so unreliable and so many people use it, critics have begun to demean the database because they don't want the world using bad information to advance the population's knowledge. They especially don't want high school and college students using it because it will degrade their brains. Since the children are the future, it will begin the human races journey of devolution. All of these criticisms and points point at the quality of Wikipedia, but they don't talk about the one thing it has down, the quantity of information.

You can search for almost anything on Wikipedia and find an article or at least something relating to it. When you do find the sought after article, it has many other links to other articles relating to it within the words printed on the page. Such as if you searched education, the words teaching, learning, and skills are all underlined and colored blue to symbolize a hyperlink to the article defining it. Wikipedia is well organized, free, and also easy to use. It has many different applications for the constructive purposes of advancing knowledge.

There are a wide variety of articles on Wikipedia, some are constructive, some are entertaining, but do any of them actually have a point? Examples of good articles you could find would be like quotes from philosophers such as Aristotle, research info on when the Chinese Civil War was started, or the difference of its and it's. Those are all very intelligent, constructive articles to look up, but there are also many less enlightening articles to find and these articles are more likely searched for than the latter. For example, when the Rolling Stones recorded their first album, all the names of the villains from Batman, or the number ten most visited article on Wikipedia “List of Female Porn Stars” (Wikipedia). The reason it's so popular to most people is because it's an easy way to find information on anything you want. It's not easy to find organized info on the Rolling Stones or Batman. It's very easy to find information on female porn stars, but let's not go into that. It doesn't really matter to say Wikipedia is a bad source of information because the top searched for articles on the website prove that web surfers don't often look for quotes from wise people, how certain wars have started, or how to become a better writer. They look for factoids about trivial information that most scholars aren't interested in. Those factoids aren't not important, the factoids of society just don't contribute much to intelligence, they're entertaining, but they won't bring out a society of massive ignorance like the many teachers, intellectuals, and the editor of Encyclopedia Britannica, Dale Hoiberg, says it will (Wikipedia).

As I've already stated, many elitists of education find Wikipedia deplorable, but have they checked their own sources to prove this opinion? A World History teacher says to her students “Ok, you've got this big 100 point project due by the end of the month, you have to site at least 8 sources, and I'm only letting two of them be from Wikipedia”. She later goes on to tell her students that she knew one of the current Supreme Court Justices and she was reading his Wikipedia article, and to her dismay she found three mistakes at the bottom of the page. This was the reason her students could only use Wikipedia twice in their oral World History presentations. Many educators, such as this one, find Wikipedia to be unsuitable for education purposes because of undependability. A better alternative to this supporter of education would be the revered and costly website Encyclopedia Britannica, right? Incorrect, according to the British Journal “Nature”, Britannica had almost as many lies, factual errors, or omissions as Wikipedia did as they conducted a small research project using only those two encyclopedias as sources. Although they found that Wikipedia did have more errors with 162, Britannica came in a close second with 123 problems (BBC). This shows that quite often the Internet, which is hailed as the greatest unlimited source of information, isn't always correct even with so-called reliable databases such as Britannica. So therefore reliable databases are almost as bad as Wikipedia. Britannica is still better to use than Wikipedia because it has less mistakes, but it's still pretty worthless if it even has one. These mistakes are probably the result of amateurs running both sites.

Andrew Keen, a huge critic of Wikipedia makes the point that amateurs are ruining our culture. Andrew Keen has a Master's Degree in political science and in his book he blames the Internet, blogs, and user-edited websites of destroying our culture and once again making our society stupider. Andrew Keen went on Stephen Colbert's television show to talk about his book “The Cult of the Amateur” (Television). He brings up the point that we believe in the factoids put on the internet, like Wikipedia coming up on Google, as reality because we don't look anywhere else for good, solid, information about the past, present, and future of our world from intelligent people who actually know what they're talking about. He suggests that a group of experts should have a journalistic webpage to tell the real facts that people want to know about like info on Aristotle, the Chinese Civil War, and English grammar. And there should also be Wikipedia-like information such as Rolling Stones info, details about the villains from Batman, porn, or how the famous author Ray Bradbury said that public schools teach way too many factoids in their daily curriculums.

Ray Bradbury has many insightful points on education. On a video interview with Ray Bradbury, he said that all the information that people place value on today (excluding the areas of Math and Science) like the names of famous people, dates of history, or when a book was written, for example all of the information that Wikipedia offers, is completely irrelevant. All that unreliable information that Wikipedia offers and people have been arguing and scuffling about is completely worthless to the research projects that students have to do because it doesn't really teach you anything with substance. The names of people like Napoleon, Martin Luther, and Jesus are worthless if you don't know who they were, what they stood for, and why they were considered great men. The names and dates of wars like World War II and how it started in September 1939 is worthless if you don't bring up the fact that it started because of neglecting Germany and their quest for power because of it. None of the names, dates, and other information that schools present to their students and actually expect them to learn makes them think. The lessons that schools have their students complete are often centered on learning the information that Wikipedia easily offers without providing a lesson of how it applies to them individually. It doesn't make them think, they just learn the information, and puke it back up because it provides them no enriching thought-provoking substances. The information that schools have their students learn is basically grain alcohol, but to contrast if the lessons actually made the students think, the ethanol would instantly transform into healthy green vegetables. So to finally summarize, Wikipedia is criticized because education elites of today want the children to learn information from reliable sources when it's completely irrelevant to them anyway.

To summarize, Wikipedia is an over hated website that provides a mountain of information for free. It gets criticized because it's supposedly making the world a dumber place to live in thanks to children getting their information from unreliable sources. In my opinion, if there was a free (emphasize heavily on free) and reliable encyclopedia today that offered information on anything you could think of and today's education system taught students to think, we'd be all set. The Internet will remain a powerful tool for the advancement of humankind and we need to use it correctly if we are to survive. Wikipedia is a brilliant idea, but having it freely changed everyday is using the idea incorrectly. If we use it correctly and this era is referred to as the “Information Age” and knowledge is the collection of information, maybe the next era will be the "Knowledgeable Age”. Of course by then we"ll be smarter and there will be a cooler name for it.

15 Unusually Useful Websites Where the Things That You Want are Just a Trade Away

Most people on the Internet who are looking for good deals normally choose to shop with traditional retailers or they may place a bid at their favorite auction website. There is another way to land a fantastic deal and that doesn't requireperson to pay an arm and a leg after the deal is done. Consider the art of swapping your old or unwanted items you have for unwanted items other people have for example.

This article was inspired after following the bartering (swapping) skills of a man named Kyle MacDonald and his website
“One Red Paperclip". Kyle, Swapped his self from one trade to another, until he had himself his very own house. Amazingly, he managed to swap himself to a house in only fourteen trades.

Now, I am not suggesting that anyone can do what Kyle MacDonald did, but if you never try, then you will never know. Even if your idea isn't so grand as swapping until you achieve something big, it is cheaper than buying new or bidding in an auction. You can still swap your old things for the things that you want and only be responsible for paying the cost of shipping the things you have agreed to swap with another member(s).

This list isn't a Top 10 list, but if it were, then I would suspect that this list would look pretty much the same as I have it right now. So, enjoy!

Books, CDs, DVDs Swaps

Bookmooch

Exchange used books with other BookMooch members and “Get” the book(s) that you want in return. There is no cost to participate in the BookMooch community. Only pay for the actual shipping of the books that you agree to swap.

Paper Back Swap

Swap paperback Books, CDs and DVDs with other members of Paperback Swap. Membership is currently free. Like with any swapping community, members are responsible for paying the actual shipping cost for the products that they have agreed to swap.

Swap Simple

SwapSimple makes swapping books, DVDs and video games really easy and simple. List the books, DVDs and video games simply by entering the UPC code that is printed on the DVDs or video games or enter the ISBN number that is printed on the back cover of the books into the swap listing tools and SwapSimple will take care of the rest. Swap with members who are included in your swap network free and only pay $1.00 or $2.00 per swap, if you are swapping with members outside of your swap network. Swaps are backed with a 100% Money Back Guarantee. Membership is free and required.

Sequential Swap

Dust off your old and new comic books, trade paperbacks and graphic novels and use Sequential Swap to swap what you have to get the comics that you want with other members. Membership is free and required.

Fashion and Cosmetics

Swap Style

Swapstyle.com describes itself as “an online fashion swap party where you can swap, sell and buy fashion, accessories, cosmetics, shoes and lots more with people from all around the world at any time, day or night”. This is a fantastic idea in my opinion, because it can save its members a lot of money on the name brand fashions and cosmetics that are normally purchased at retailers at high markups. Members can also participate in forums and discuss the latest fashion trends, sales and/or whatever comes to your mind at the time. Members are only responsible for paying the actual shipping costs associated with the items that they have traded or sold and the other members are responsible for paying for the actual shipping of the things that they agreed to swap with you. Membership is free and required.

Make Upalley

Ladies here is your chance to swap cosmetics that you own, but don't use for cosmetics that other members have and you want. We're talking about name brand cosmetics - the expensive stuff. Members are only responsible for covering the shipping costs for the cosmetics that they have agreed to swap. Members can read products reviews or write a review on the products that you have used. Participate in forums and meet other members, so that you can get to know the people that you might want to make a swap with later. Membership is free and required.

File Swap

FileSwap enables visitors to swap computer files, photos, music, wallpapers, audio files, animated icons, videos or even PDF and text files, quick and simple. Use the browse button to retrieve the file or files that you want to swap and hit the Swap button to continue. After the file you have selected has been entered into the system, then you will receive a random file that someone else has submitted. Yes, it is kind of like playing the lottery, but your chances of winning something interesting is far better than the lottery.

Conclusion

This was a fun article to write. I hope that I have been able to introduce you to a whole new world, where the things that you want today can be swapped for, while you have fun and save money.

If you know of any other websites that you believe are better than these in this article or you just believe should have been included, then leave a link to them with your comment. I do check weblinks and I will remove any weblink that leads to adult websites or any illegal website.

Dear Tom At Myspace

Dear Tom,

My name is... well my name isn't that important now is it? It's not like we're going to go out for tea and crumpets after you read this. Well if you want to, my number is 21... Oh right... Back to the letter. I have to say that I am grateful for your brainchild AKA MySpace. However, I do have a few suggestions in order to make the site that much better.

I will say that you have helped me realize that not only are my friends very loyal, but they're also stalkers; who look at my page every time I change my picture. Do you think you can implement a way of having users know who looks at their profile? Or maybe since you have the option of having a preferred list for blogs that maybe you can employ a preferred list for pictures. Not a bad idea if I do say so myself.

Also Tom, may I ask why it is that you have a block feature implemented, but the people blocked are still able to view your profile? Shouldn't they be blocked from seeing anything about you? I suggest that blocked users be blocked entirely and when they attempt to click on your page, they are automatically bounced back to the MySpace main page; just some food for thought.

Who doesn't love to read a good bulletin? Ahem, let me stress good bulletin. Tom, why is that you allow people to post bulletins every few minutes? Why not put a cap on the amount of bulletins a person can post in a day? Wouldn't that fight spammers and people who try to hack users' accounts? Some of my "friends" use the bulletin system to pimp their page incessantly and because I'm not mean enough to remove them from my list, whenever I log on, I sadly have to look at the river of posts by the same person. Maybe changing it so that people are only allowed to post up to 4 bulletins a day? I think that this is a feasible suggestion.

Also, why are bands, comedians and filmmakers exempt from having their age on their page? Pedophiles come in all shapes, sizes and do various different jobs outside of their perverted ways. I know the well-known bands and singers " ages are already known to their fans/groupies, but the underground bands -whom nobody really knows- are free to roam around and say whatever they please to whomever they please. Just because someone is in the industry, doesn"t mean they are exempt from being a pervert or horn dog; just something to look into.

Tom, may I also ask why it is that when someone deletes their page a red X appears where their comment was? If they didn't care enough to say goodbye when they decided to delete their page, then I don't care enough to know that they deleted their page. Why not just have the comments automatically disappear when they disappear?

Now I know you guys are in competition with Facebook, but trust me with all the new additions over there that make the site look like something out of a kindergarten classroom, I truly believe that you guys have the leg up. But Tom, why? Why did you add these crappy moods/smilies? It would be nice if you could actually get rid of them, but once you click on it, it's like a VD; it's there for life. Why not give us an option to remove it and put it back if we so choose? And what's worse is that if your profile is on private and you add a mood, your stalkers can see it.

Why is it that, the moods are still visible-when your profile is private- but your status message is still: “This profile is set to private. This user must add you as a friend to see his/her profile”? Technically everything isn't private now is it?

I do thank you and anyone else who took the time out to read this. Please don't take this as me bashing your site. All in all, I think it's one of the best networking sites. But not everything is perfect... Hope you're having a lovely day! I'll send you some more white t-shirts in the mail.

Regards, Rosebud

How To Blog Your Life and Make Money From It!

Face it, we blog cos we like the attention. Some of us blog cos we think we can make money from it.

Now I asked myself the hypothetical question:
If my life could be scripted, or engineered, so that it would be perfect for microcontent distribution via podcasts, blogs, webcam, random pictures etc what sort of content should I offer up?

I came up with two different approaches - The Way of the Attention Seeking Whore or the Path of the Inner Bore.

The Way of the Attention Seeking Whore

Let's assume you have no shame. But you are moderately conservative and not too keen on softcore pronography - so that rules out blatant exhibitist content. You're also very sexually active and can be considered attractive. You want to call attention to the kinky side of you but at the same time portray the image of a smart liberal.

What you want on your blog is lots of racy comments like "Why I am the sexiest man alive!" Or, "Do you think my boobs look small in this?"

After coming up with a suitably flagrant and flametroll of a post, advertise liberally on forums and chat rooms. Don't forget to include a picture or two, tastefully done up so that visitors can scream and hurl obscenities in the silence of cyberspace onto your post comments section:)

Another way of doing it is to be a real Cyber Doofus. This method requires you to unleash your inner dorkiness.

For example, you can take vids of your frens kicking you in the nuts. Man, I am sure lots of people would love to see a guy keel over in pain. Or you can go around and snap candid pictures of strange people and then watch their reaction. Better yet, snap pictures of pretty gals around town and post them up on your blog. Advertise liberally, sprinkle links to lots of adult sites and voila~ you got a money maker in your hands!

The Path of the Inner Bore

This avenue of thought requires you to pretend to be intellectual.

Write long, dissertation-like posts and wax lyrical on the colour of light or the inner game of roof tiling. Gaze into the crystal ball of the future and make opinionated, frightfully uneducated guesses on the outcome of a global conflict.

It doesn't matter if you aren't that smart, all you gotta do is write something smart alecky. (like this post for example!)

Your source of ideas should come from your morning paper. Just find a topic which interests you, google the topic, combine 'searched links' and your opinions into an expressed editorial and post it up online and you've got yourself a 'bore' post.

In conclusion, there's an art to blogging and if you manage to find consistency in your posts, then that should be your style and stick to it. Blog cos you love the attention, and not because you need the attention.

Keeping you and your children safe on the internet

More and more people are using online websites to meet people, there are sites such as my space or mingle ville, people sign up for free (or on some websites pay a small fee a month) and then they begin to chat with other users.

This sounds good but there are so many traps to watch out for, how do you know who you really are speaking too? I have often been talking to some one with pictures they claim to be there selves but yet you can tell that they are clearly from the web and are using models photos.

Another downfall is children, they join these sites hoping to talk to other people in their same age bracket yet its known fact people pretend to be children to lure in kids for their own sick fantasies, day by day I do believe these sites are not safe I myself have been talking to some one I thought was a lass until he turned his web cam on and I was greeted by a sight I did not want to see!

There are ways to get around this talk to people who change their pictures often this is a good sign that they are who they say they are, make sure that the pictures are all of the same person unless other wise stated. Don’t accept random people’s friend’s requests or web cam requests be wary of people that ask fro your email address so soon to speaking to them.

If you’re a parent and are worried about your child talking to people on the net here are some guide lines:

Keep a record of who they talk to, tools like msn allows you to keep a record of their conversations tell them to do this.

Limit there time on the internet, its best to make sure they go on when your around so you know what they are up to.

Ask them who they talk to and what do they talk about to make sure they are safe.

Move the computer into a room where you are most of the time.

Keep a history of the web pages they visit and check them out to see what they have been up to.

Most people will believe this can be to much, but in your children’s safety can it be enough?
