If I were asked though what the internet has done for me and how has it changed my life? I would have to say, it has helped me to help others as well as myself. It has given me my life mate. It has taken me to all four corners of the world; giving me the tools and the means to see and reach deep into the hearts and mindsets of others. It has helped me to research many things and to catalog the results of my research. Yes, the internet has shown me that great endings often have small beginnings. It has become an ongoing educational part of my life and has helped me pass on the knowledge of my lifetime and the lessons I've learned along the way. Yes, for me the internet is a wonderful new concept.

This is from an Asian television show where a dude tries to break a record. The distance is amazing.

This is the famous bear in the tree clip. I thought they only did this in cartoons, but I guess it is real.

This kid lets us watch his mistake in slow motion, I think that is the only reason this clip is funny.

Grooveshark

Grooveshark is a great music sharing community which is completely legal. The interface is really easy to use and is possibly even better than itunes!

There is two main websites. Grooveshark and Grooveshark Lite. Grooveshark Lite is a smaller version of Grooveshark which you don't have to sign up and can listen to any track for free online.

Grooveshark is the full version which you do have to sign up (for free obviously) for and you can also listen to any track for free. Additionally, you can share music, add friends, download music and lots more. You do have to pay for downloading music but as I'll explain in a second, it's still free. How it works is as follows. You download a small free program called Sharkbyte which searches for music on your own computer. It then adds this to the database and any time someone buys that track you get 50% of the cost. Grooveshark takes the other 50% for themselves and pays the artist or record company some money. The 50% that you get is added to your account and you can use this as credit towards downloading songs. Yes, I know it sounds complicated but all that matters is that get to listen and download the music you want for free without the guilty feeling that you're depriving the artist of some money.

Drop.io

Drop.io is a really simple and useful tool for file sharing. It's just like having a password protected 100mb (or more if you upgrade) memory stick everywhere with you (if you have internet access). All you do is upload your chosen files (any format) onto the site then go onto the other computer, go to www.drop.io/ (your chosen name) and effectively download the file.

You can make as many “drop.io s” as you want so I suppose its more like having unlimited 100mb memory sticks with you! There are other features like transferring files between drop.io's and emailing files to your drop.io.

Enjoy writing stories etc, taking pictures, filming videos and maybe making one or two songs just for fun? Well, with Triond you could do all that and get paid for it! Sound good? Read on.

Triond uses a “Pay Per View” system on articles, photos, videos and music that you upload. Basically, they put your content on one of their websites which have adverts and pay you a tiny amount of money for every view. This will add up over time and every month they pay you either via paypal or a check through the post (paypal is faster and more secure so I advise it).

You can upload as much as you like and the more you upload the more you get paid. It may seem a measly amount at first but stick at it and you'll be making worthwhile amounts of money before you know it.

You Convert It

With music, image and video files being in all sorts different formats it's hard to find converting software that actually does what it says, doesn't have hidden costs, puts viruses on your computer or every time you use it, it annoys you with pop ups asking you to upgrade.

You Convert It can convert anything. I mean almost literally. It can convert images, video, music weights, lengths time, distance…I could go on forever.

You just type in your e-mail address, select the file you want converted and what you want it to be converted into and they e-mail the converted file to you once it's finished. It's efficient, easy to use and of course…free.

My Game Builder

Everyone has at some point dreamt of making their own game. Doing anything they want; feature themselves in the game; set it in their own house and, and, and…then realize how difficult it is to actually do. Unless you have programming skills and expensive software which most people don't have, then making your own game is well…impossible. That was until my game builder came along.

It allows complete beginners to "build games" as the name suggests. You draw "tiles" of a variety of sizes which will represent objects and characters in the game. You draw the characters and enemies from different angles so when they are walking they look in different directions.

Simple easy to understand tutorials teach you the basics and more features are unlocked as you become more experienced.

There is also a sort of "online community" of game builders in which you can view and play other people's games and top games are picked every week or so which encourages you to be creative.

Experts may be obviously be disappointed but for complete novices, My Game Builder is a simple, easy to use, fairly powerful tool which will kill a few hours and perhaps start off your career as a game programmer!

Buttonator

Buttonator is a great little tool which generates good looking buttons for your website. You just configure the easy to use settings then click the “show code” button to get a code which you can copy and paste onto your website. Alternatively you can download the button and add it to your website that way.

Now, for a fun and dizzying activity that will freak out your mind and confuse your senses. Some sensitive observers may become dizzy and/or sick, so if you are one of these people, then you should leave the site immediately.

Angry Alien has created a new twist on the typical movie review. In 30-seconds, visitors can watch a troupe of bunnies re-enact some of the best movies of all-time in a movie parody sort of way. Some of these movies parody are absolutely hilarious and a must to watch. My personal favorites are: Borat, Jaws, The Grudge and Star Wars.

Sure, Dr Mega Volt is a tad bit weird and completely out of his mind. Anyone who would knowingly put himself in an electrifying situation has to be included in an article entrenched in the world of weird. This guy has either a death wish or he has found a job that pays really, really well.

Now, you can get you very own to download onto your computer for free. I don't know why anyone would want one of these, but there are some weird things that people want for some strange reason.

   We've heard of the world's highest building or even the highest monuments, but the world's highest website? Though this website does not contain anything much, it is 18.939 kilometers “high” (that's around 11.77 miles)!

   “All good things come to an end.” Really true - even the internet does! Check out this webpage, which is supposedly the “last page of the internet”.
   

4. I Hate Internet Explorer

   For those who hate Microsoft Internet Explorer, this is (perhaps) the ultimate website, which states “….Internet Explorer does NOT follow web standards” and names other web-browsers which are meant to work better than Microsoft Internet Explorer. The strange thing is, the owner(s) of the website wasted money just to convey that small a message?
   

5. Deleted Images

   This website is dedicated to images that weren't meant to exist. If you have taken any photos that you do not need because they did not come out well, then this website welcomes you to donate those photos to them.
   

6. The Longest Website (in Letters)

   So, people even spend their money just to get the world's longest website. We aren't talking about a few thousand dollars here - it's a matter of millions of dollars - all for a name! And Shakespeare actually asked “What's in a name?”
   

7. The Longest Website (in Numerals)

   This website is quite similar to the previously mentioned one, only that this one is based on numerals and not on letters. What is more is that the website contains only two words and the title of the website.

   Believe it or not, sometimes learning new [educational] facts on the Internet is the best way to pass time. I like this site simply because there are numerous categories of trivia and whatever catches your attention you are bound to find pretty interesting information about it. My personal favorite categories: geography, language, and superstitions.

2. Braingle.com

   I love this site because it gives you so many options on how to exercise your brain on the daily basis. I stumbled upon this site a month ago and have come back to it quite often. “Mentorobics” has this simple game that tests your reaction time. A blank square appears and you have to click on it as soon as a color square appears. A good reaction time is 0.20 seconds. The first time I did it took me 0.48 seconds. Instantly I wanted to do better so I kept at it until I got 0.19. Seems easy? You'll see! And of course, the trivia quizzes are pretty hard so that'll keep you busy for quite some time…trust me.

3. Bored.com

   This is just a classic site on how to fill your brain with useless information, nonetheless, very entertaining. I would say this is a guilty pleasure site because it has superficial links to: guess that celebrity, age guessing game, name humor, and my personal favorite “which is worse.” There is something in this site for everyone. If you have time in your hands and clearly don't feel like being productive, then you have found your stop.

4. Theodora.com

   Sometimes I get a nerd kick and feel like actually learning something. This is a great site if geography is one of your interests. Clearly, it is one of mine. It's a pretty thorough site if you are looking for a specific time period and country. If you enjoy learning facts about other countries, this is it.

5. Travelblog.org

   If you have always wanted to travel somewhere or are planning to go somewhere, this is a very resourceful site. One is because people are actually experiencing what is typical of the region. Two you get to see photos of the place as is right now. Lastly, you go better informed (through journals) than if you had read five books about that place. If you are not traveling any time soon, live vicariously through someone else!
