Websites to Waste Your Week, Issue Two

Just like last week in the very first issue, the purpose of this article is to provide you with ten links you can use to waste away the work hours. As I've always said, who needs productivity anyways? So without further ado, here we go:

This is Sand

This is a virtual sand decoration games. You know those sand sculptures in glass you see at the mall? This is the virtual version. A lot of fun, and very Zen-like when played. To get help, click on the upper left gray square, it will tell you all the commands like changing sand color, etc.

Trash Can Costume

This article can show you how to make a costume that will scare the pants off your co-workers. The author of this article made the costume for Hallowe'en and reported great success in terrifying children. Just think of how you can apply such a costume at work! That's if you don't get fired wearing a trash can costume, that is. (and you probably will)

Welcome to Ant City

Were you one of those psychopathic children who used to burn ants alive with a magnifying glass during hot summer days? You'll appreciate this game then! And even if you weren't, it is better pretending to be a supervillain with a massive magnifying glass set people and cars on fire than it is to actually do work at your job.

Thinking Machine 4

Do you play chess? If you do, you'll really appreciate the Thinking Machine 4. After you make a chess move, it plots all the moves it can do in a beautiful colorful pattern. And it is really good at chess, too... it beat ol' SlackerDan in no time flat. I've always been better at checkers, anyways.

404 Error - Page Not Found!

Here's a page you can sit back and enjoy as it tells you why it's a 404 page and how being a 404 page is a rather deep psychological burden. This 404 page seems to be rather manic-depressive, too, just like most of your co-workers!

Juggler

Ever wanted to learn to juggle? No? Well, visit this page anyways for some virtual juggling, much more fun than doing a solid day's work. I personally am horrible at this game, so if you can juggle the balls for more than ten seconds you're doing better than me.

You Know You're a Canadian When...

Here's a fun link for all the Canadian readers "oot" there, eh? And even if you're not from the Great White North you'll probably get a chuckle from some of the entries on this list. I'm Canadian and I got many laughs from this article.

Eskiv

This is a great fun game that you just may find addicting. It's very basic gameplay: using the arrow keys, move your black circle onto the grey square while avoiding the balls. Each time you successlfully touch the grey square, another ball will appear. It gets to be quite a challenge!

Free Multiplayer Online Games

If you're able to install games on your work computer, you'll want to take a look at this comprehensive list of multiplayer games. A lot of the games here are completely free, while some have options you need to pay for. Who knows, maybe you'll find a multiplayer game here you can play at work for days on end.

Skateboarding Dog

And to wrap up this week's issue of Websites to Waste Your Week, here is a video of a skateboarding dog:

Have a great week, and try not to work too hard... or at all, hehehehe.

Use Sympathy to Attract Visitors to Your Website

I haven't had a good year. For many reasons ...

January began with the sudden demise of my aunt. Her funeral was a dour affair, with non-stop rain and howling wind. To make matters worse, I stepped too close to the graveside edge, and slid in. The small group of family mourners couldn't help themselves, they thought it was comical watching me desperately trying to scramble up the side of the grave to free myself. Even the vicar had a grin on his face.

February wasn't much better. As an act of kindness to a neighbour, I agreed to adopt one of the kittens her beloved cat had given birth to. I quickly grew fond of the little pure black kitten, naming it Panther. I let Panther out one morning, and unwittingly sent him to his death - a milk float ran over him, squashing my pussy as flat as a pancake in the process.

March came. The wife left me for another man, presumably one with better luck than me. At least she didn't run off with another woman.

April arrived, as did the worsening of my arthritis. With no-one to assist me at home, I spent the first week laid up in bed and unable to move. I couldn't get up and walk around, the attack was so severe. I didn't eat that week, but luckily for me the orange juice I keep on the bedside table meant I wouldn't die of thirst and I was thankful for that. I wasn't thankful for having to buy a new bed and duvet set.

May struck. And so did the lightening which destroyed my chimney stack, ripped apart my apple tree, and toasted the two pet rabbits I owned. Yet things decidedly took a turn for the worse before the merry month ended. Whilst driving home one early evening, I accidentally ran down a dog and killed it, and understandably its owner, a six-year-old girl, was heartbroken. The young girl's father was not the type who understood things so easily, like accidents. Anyhow to cut a long story short, I was released from hospital the next day.

June is still upon us. And though it's only Friday 13th, I've been very lucky so far. The car windscreen has only been shattered once, a rear tyre slashed, and just one tiny scratch on the offside wing.

I really can't wait for next week ...

PS. Of course the tale above is quite fictional, but putting a sympathy blog on your website will improve on the visitor stats - trust me!

Disclaimer: All characters are fictional and any resemblance to persons living, dead, or not yet born is purely coincidental.

10 Online Videos That Everyone Must Check Out

The internet is a great place for information and almost any kind of media you can imagine but one thing that it has that almost everyone enjoys is video. I have compiled a list of my personal favorite funny, extreme, interesting, and just flat out amazing videos that I think that everyone should check out:

(All the videos are youtube video titles)

Quick Change Artists on America's Got Talent

All you can say to this video is wow. What this video are a husband and wife team on the show America's Got Talent and there act is the instant changing of there clothes behind curtains and other objects. For this video you really have to see it to believe it.

This Is Sparta! Another Techno Remix

Although the whole 300 craze died out a while ago this will make you undoubtedly crack up. This is a very funny techno song that is pretty repetitive but insanely funny and will get stuck in you head for days.

David Blaine Street Magic: YouTube Edition!

If you haven't seen it already it is a must see for anyone and even if you have I recommend you see it again. If you don't know it is a parody of the magician David Blaine and his street magic. To really get the most out of this hilarious youtube hit you should check out the actual magician to understand the joke better.

Invisible Skating

This is a very interesting video part of an actual skate video with only one thing missing…The skateboards! This amazingly edited video is very cool because it is so real and as a bonus it has some great music.

Risky Guy - Dangerous Train Stunt

This video is just plain insanity to me and I recommend everyone should check out but never try this at home. Basically it is where a person lays on the tracks and you just need to see to find out.

Just 2 Guyz

There are many different versions of this music video and I would recommend the lonely island version which is a comedy group that makes most of the SNL digital shorts and is also where Andy Samberg got his start. The synopsis of this video is there are just 2 guys and they are having a good time (watch video to get the joke).

Struck in tsunami

This is an extremely amazing video of a big wave taking on the most amazing and incredible things that nature has ever made.

Knock Knock

A bit twisted but for the most pare hilarious. The video is to say the least not your typical knock knock joke.

Zippo tricks

There are many things that you can do with you spare time but I think that this is one of the best uses of it. This is a very crazy video of a person lighting a lighter but you need to see it to believe it and it will make you want to pick up your Zippo and start playing around.

Girls Are Not To Be Trusted

First I need to say before the title offends anybody this video is a complete joke but a very funny one at that. This video is made by in my book one of the most hilarious comedy groups of all time derrick comedy and it is one of there big hits on youtube that I recommend everyone who loves a good laugh.

Only a slacker with no sense of a challenge could resist the name of this game! Impossible! Ha! I'll show them! To be fair to the creators of this quiz, it is indeed very hard. You get three lives, and if you get a question wrong, you lose a life. All three lives gone means the game is over and you must start again, which of course, you will. Again, and again and again!

Are you the type of person who, when told not to do something, will go right ahead and do it, whatever the consequences?

This site will keep you slacking for hours. Basically it is an enormous archive of generators. If you want the name of a previously unknown British town or a horoscope with a difference, then get to this site now! That, of course, is only the tip of the iceberg, and will certainly help you forget about those important deadlines at work.

If you like playing music while you work, why not create music while you do not work whatsoever, it is the logical step after all! Buttonbeats allows you to play a sophisticated synth with your keyboard. It doesn't stop there - whether you like House, Techno, Jungle or Hip Hop there is a Beats section where you can mix and match your own music. A sheer delight for the musically inclined professional slacker!

This site is slacker heaven! You choose your cup size and are redirected to a host of Flash and PowerPoint games. The great thing is this site looks like a normal Windows folder full of various types of file - exactly the kind of GUI that you need to sucker your boss in to believing you are working. This site could see the introduction of the one day working week.

This site maintains that it is the number one source for free online Mmorpgs and MMOs. They are probably right. Their goal is to locate and organize each and every free online MMORPGs and MMOs on the net, so there is no need for you to search anymore. Popular titles include Shattered Galaxy and Rohan, so if you like MMOs, this is your ultimate slacker site!

“A snake, a snake, ooh! It's a snake!” will be the words that you will repeat ad infinitum on your journey home after a day's addiction to this site. It is interminable, maddening, frustrating and perhaps one to be avoided if you are an obsessive compulsive. However, if you are a fan (or a potential fan) of cute dancing badgers that just go on and on and on - and on, then you will adore this. Don't be badgered at work, do the badgering yourself!

The sequel to the hugely popular Idiot's Test, number two will continue to confound you while you slack as, try as you might, you keep getting the simplest answers wrong. Perfect for those who wish to exercise their mental agility in the work place but without doing any work, this will allow you to slack and improve your mental prowess at the same time. Perhaps.

Not all slacking has to be mindless, contrary to popular opinion. In many cases the quest for intellectual rigor can be the ultimate form of slacking. How Stuff Works is a site that panders to these with a thirst for knowledge which is useful, but probably not to those reading it. So if you want to know whether there is water on Mars or how a tribe can remain undiscovered in the Amazon until the present day, you know where to click!

Top 10 Most Entertaining Websites

The internet is full of useless websites. Some will cost you money, some are free, but they all cost you time. One of the most disappointing experiences one can have on a daily basis is that of using the internet for some amount of time, then glancing at the clock only to notice that several hours have passed while nothing productive has been done. We are so susceptible to these wasteful websites because we come to the internet for other reasons: to shop, check the weather, look at the stock market, have a good laugh. Yet, we invariably follow link after link until we go from interesting article to complete junk. By the time we realize we're reading junk we're just noticing that clock.

Many times, though, we're on the "net taking care of business and find ourselves with a few extra minutes. Wary of the wasteful websites we sift through our bookmarks looking for that really entertaining website we used to visit but haven"t in a while. Want to make use of that extra time without donating it to one of those annoying and totally useless sites? Well, here's that list of sites you've been looking for:

College Humor - Currently in college? Remember the years back when? Never been to college? Doesn't matter! Use this site to relive those crazy days or simply laugh at other's misfortunes on this hilarious site with its numerous anecdotes and great links.

The Onion - Perhaps the most hilarious website out there. It's a fake newspaper available in both online and print versions (yes, they really print a fake paper!). The stories are totally ridiculous, but if you send the link to an unsuspecting friend the stories are just believable enough that your friend might think you've discovered the most insightful/absurd newspaper ever!

Sodaplay - This creative website allows you to manipulate different “models” in many environments. The enjoyment derived from this website will likely depend upon your own creativity in combination with your interest in physics. This site is definitely a lot of fun!

Prank Dial - Sitting in front of the computer at work while your friend is on vacation? Send them an automated prank call, free! It's safe, fun, and easy and there are many options, including: voice, language, what you want said, and even the number that will show up on caller ID (so they think someone else is calling!). Overall a simple, easy way to share a laugh with a friend.

eBaum s World - Similar to College Humor, but it caters to a broader audience. This site is famous for popularizing the “End of World” flash video (originally created by MIT students) as well as having in stock many ridiculous “never before seen” commercials and such. A must visit for young and old!

Newgounds - Their motto is “Everything. By Everyone.” and it is just that. A compilation of videos, games, cartoons, music, and even forums, there is something here for everyone.

Icanhascheezburger? - The lolcat fad may be over, but there is something about the way cats wind up in photographs that just makes these little fellas so entertaining. Dogs are great, but its cats that make for the best funny pictures. IF you haven't heard about lolcats, you have to check this site out!

Darwin Awards - This satirical website details the escapades of the most foolish human beings. Think you or someone you know has recently made the biggest mistake you can think of? Well, you haven't seen this year's nominees! Ever witness someone doing something incredibly foolish and think “Whoa! They might pay for that someday!” Well they do, and for it they might receive one of these awards.

Bragster - A site where you can dare your friends to do things, and, once they have, they can post victory on the internet. Or you can just watch videos that others have posted responding to crazy dares. Overall a rather entertaining website where you can see the bizarre things people will do for their 15 minutes of fame.

Funny Exam Answers - We've all heard the urban legends about students bolding answering exams. There is the famous philosophy exam where the professor simply writes “Why?” on the final and the student responds with a simple, “Why Not?” There is also the “What is bravery” exam question answered only by, “This is.” While those myths sound intriguing to any student, do you ever wonder if anyone has had the guts to actually write that stuff on exams. Well, yes they have. And fortunately for us someone has made a compilation Funny exam answers shows you the boldness - or straight foolishness - of some exam takers. Enjoy!

How to Find a Great Youtube Video

Ever have one of those days when you can't find that YouTube video to satisfy your daily dose of humor or curiosity? Well truth be told it's actually much easier than you think to come across the next "big video". Often times simply searching "funny video" just isn't enough. With so many YouTube videos being posted everyday and so many people wanting theirs to be seen, a more obvious title will be accompanied by bad videos.

So what should you do? Well one of the best sources of YouTube humor is bloopers. What is broadcasted 24 hours a day 7 days a week live? The news! All you need to do is type in "news bloopers" and plenty of great vids are available right at your finger tips, with new ones everyday. Ever stay up really late and watch those terrible infomercials or the QVC shopping channel? Well a lot of those programs are broadcasted live with little room for error. Searching for home shopping bloopers also yields an incredible amount of great candid entertainment.

Everyone has seen America's Funniest Home Videos. The best part of the show is the montage of people taking horrible yet hilarious spills! Well to see them again and again and share them with your friends who missed it while they were in the bathroom simply search "man" or "woman" or "kid" followed by the word "falls" and you are bound to get some great results.

Now for those of you who are over the humor of seeing people fall over and over again a great way to simply be amazed it to see what silly people do everyday. Searching "drunk redneck" is a great way to see some crazy back country antics that happen all the time. Also simply typing in "explosion" is a great say to see some fascinating videos of breathtaking explosions. Whether it be someone firing a rifle at a 5 gallon propane tank or the dropping of the Tsar Bomb (the first H Bomb ever tested with a mushroom cloud 8 miles in diameter) your eyebrows will definitely be lifted!

Five Alternative and Crazy Videos To Get You Saying "Wassup!"

Remember back in 2000 when Budweiser has a series of commercials features some comical guys and the WASSUP?! I was eleven at that time and thought that these were the best commercials I had seen in a minute. Over the years people have gone to a lot of trouble to parody this commercial. Here is the original:

It's addicting. I can get enough of the wassup commercial. There is one that features just Nintendo characters. Can you name them all?

These kids are funny. Instead of drinking a Bud, they use Milk, buts a still hilarious to watch.

I know how scary the Teletubbies are, but once again the wassup guys know no bounds and this is great.

The kids from South Park even have a little action:

The last one I found to be a good parody was the Rabbi wasssup guys:
